AJAX :: Embedded Object Doesnt Display Within Modalpopup, But Code Is Visible In Source View?

Mar 9, 2011

Using StringBuilder im building my object in code behind so its customize for our needs.. I placed a Literal control within the modalpopup and populating it when you click on a button..On my test page everything works great to display it and when fed a value video file, it plays.. on that page, it wasnt contained within a modalpopup.Now on my actual dev page that i need it on, i placed the literal control within the modalpopup, and when you click on the button, it builds the object..my modal popup comes up and everything shows up except the object which is weird, because within the stringbuilder i have 4 buttons below the object and those show up, just not the object control itself.. can a object not be built and displayed like this?What makes it weirder is that when the modal popup opens, you can view the source of the page and my entire customize object control is there, but it just doesnt render on the page..

Simple Documentation Question About Embedded Code?

Jul 15, 2010

Is there any documentation or tutorials anywhere on what can be done or put between these magical symbols in ASP.NET aspx files? I've tried a number of resources though they all seem aimed at Classic ASP.I'm already writing protected functions for updating and grouping in my grids using Eval. But, for example, I noticed the following in my code :-

ConnectionString="<%&#36; ConnectionStrings:WORK_MyConnectionString %>"

I presume that $ ConnectionStrings is a macro or built-in function of some sort and I'm trying to track down what else is available in this area. I would also like to use the

<% if (my function) then .....endif %>

to conditionally write items to the page.

MVC View With Embedded Code Displays Html Out Of Sequence

Oct 15, 2010

I have a view in ASP.NET MVC. It takes the model object and iterates over a list of strings and displays them in a table row, like so:

Details

<table>
<tbody>
<tr>
<th>Values in the database</th>
</tr>
<% foreach (string value in Model.lstDistinctValues)
{%>
<tr>
<%=value%>
<%} %>
</tr>
</tbody>

The problem is that the values appear ABOVE the header. So 'Values in the database' appears at the bottom, while the values are at the top.

VS 2012 - How To Tell Difference Between Source And Published Code

Feb 5, 2014

How can I tell the difference between source and published .NET code?

I am looking at some inherited code that I have not touched in about a year. The original designer had me first publish locally before uploading the published code to the internet server. Now I am looking a number of backed up source folders as well bas backed up published folders. I should have done a better job at naming the folders, I guess. Now I wonder: How can I tell the difference between source and published .NET code? Is there some easy way to see if some folder that contains only published code is lacking a file or xml setting?

Is the .csproj file or the .sln file part of the code pushed to the server when you publish? What other differences are there that I are immediate and obvious?

C# - Difference When Declaring A DataSource In Markup Compared To Code Behind

Jan 13, 2011

I have a legacy solution where all the DataSources are defined in the markup for all .aspx-pages. The problem I have with this is that the DataSource get instantiated several times since it is used in page, control... What I want is to have NInject to handle the instantiation of the DataSource so this doesn't happen. I have got that part to sort of work, but when the DataSource is defined in the code-behind instead of in the markup the Page property is not set on the DataSource, does anyone know why? A simple solution to this is to set the the Page property in a base class or something, but I do think that the property should be there and want to know why.

Performance Difference Of Code In Aspx And Cs Files For Showing And Hiding Control Dynamically

Feb 18, 2011

I was thinking about the performance when I use code to hide some control in aspx page using delimiters or in cs file. For e.g. If I have a panel and I want it to get shown following some condition, so I can achieve this by two ways

1: Using code in aspx file, something like this

<% if(isAllowed) { %>
<asp:Panel ...></asp:Panel>
<% } %>

2: In the code file, something like this

<asp:Panel ID="pnlMyPanel" Visible="false"></asp:Panel>

And in cs file

if(isAllowed)
pnlMyPanel.Visible=true;

In my view, first way should be good as it will not at all create any Panel in the page. Am I correct here?

HttpHandlers / Modules :: URLHandler Code / Getting "Object Reference Not Set To An Instance Of An Object." Error

Feb 8, 2010

Everything works fine on my dev machine which is running Windows 7. However, when I deploy my app to my production server at MaximumASP running 64 bit Windows 2008 R2 Standard, I just can't access those pages that are handled by my URL Routing logic. I'm getting the infamous "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error.

The code below is my URL handler for Mailbox module in my application. I've defined mail folders in my database. All this does is if user is looking for /mailbox/Inbox, it looks up the folderID and sends the user the mailbox.aspx page which is expecting a folderID

[Code]....

And this is the part in Global.asax

And finally, the code in the mailbox page:

C# - Proxy Object References In MVC Code?

May 6, 2010

am just figuring out best practice with MVC now I have a project where we have chosen to use it in anger.My question is.If creating a list view which is bound to an IEnumerable is this bad practise?Would it be better to seperate the code generated by the WCF Service reference into a datastructure which essentially holds the same data but abstracts further from the service, meaning that the UI is totally unaware of the service implementation beneath.or do people just bind to the proxy object types and have done with it ?My personal feeling is to create an abstraction by creating a model and placing the Collection in that and referring to the collection in the UI code from the model.
