've created a simple gridView which lists all products based on category within a dropDownMenu (select * where CatID = dropDownMenu).This works just fine, but is there a simple way to add 'Show All' in the dropDownMenu -
View 5 Repliesi posted a question yesterday but it got taken off by moderator mbanavige with the reason indicating it was a duplicate post. i know for sure it was the first time i was asking that question. i will have to ask it again NOW because it was deleted. hope THIS one does not duplicate the one i made yesterday. so here goes:
I need to query a products table based on categories selected by the user. The selection of the categories is a checkbox list, and user can select any number of categories (including none at all). I only know how to compare one parameter at a time. Like this:

I'm building an application, my client wants me to create new control using AJAX. This control should look like thisThis control includes price(dolars and cents) and when user clicks on specific price(suppose 95 dolars and 33 cents) this price should jump inside to textboxs(one for dolars and one for cents)Does anybody have a clue how to implement this control creation??
View 4 RepliesI am developing a website that display products and the users will be able to rate these products. At the end of the month a winner product will be highlighted on the website home page. What I need to know is how to determine the winner product if I have the following rating scenario, The user will rate for the product by choosing a value from 1 to 5 where 1 mean bad and 5 excellent.
If 10 users voted for the product A and the average rating was 4 and 1 user voted for product B and the average rating were 5 that mean product B will be the winner. I feel this is not the correct method to determine the winner. one has better method that take in consideration the number of voted users to determine the winner?
this is my last thread

I have written a page which uses Linq to query the database and bind the resulting IQueryable to a datagrid. I have a partial class which contains extra properties which derive their values based on other values brought in from the database.
Sorting works fine on fields that are actually in the database but not for the derived fields. When I attempt to sort on such a field I get an error saying "The member 'Trip.Difference' has no supported translation to SQL. how to allow sorting on these derived fields?
I have a page which lists all the files in a particular folder (all PDFs), using a data-table and gridview.
I'm currently sorting this table by the filename (by using a dataview), which isn't that helpful, and I want the gridview of files sorted by the file created or file modified date (as recorded in Windows).
If that's not possible, a second option would be to extract the date from the file name string (no problem doing that), and sort the dataview/datatable or gridview based on that. Example Filename: DailySalesReport-1-15-2010. My only hangup with this is how do I sort on date, when it's a string value? Convert to date? How would I sort the whole dataset based on this converted value?

i need to sort the gridview based on the radiobuttons. and i have 3 radiobuttons like dept,empcode,reporter..
if i click on any of radiobutton i need to show the gridview by sorting order..
How do I sort a data table based on a particular column which has integer values in ascending order?
I wrote this:
'Sort the datatable based on sequence id leadtable.DefaultView.Sort ="Id" But it doesnt seem to work Datatble is defined as:
[Code]....
I have a datatable,columns are(User_id,Name,Address,DOB)
values like(12,abc,delhi,22/2/2000)
(14,pqr,mumbai,13/3/1989)
(8,klm,banglore,17/5/2001)
(9,asd,pune,12/9/1999)
Now I want to sort these rows on DOB in descending order..how can i do so?
I have a simple dynamic gridview with following code -
GV = new GridView();
Actually i want to ask which is the best for sorting in Asp.Net is it DataView.Sort Method or List<Object>.Sort() method.
View 1 RepliesI'm looking for a way to sort the rows of a datatable without setting the DefaultView.Sort to a specific column. I have a datatable in session that users can add records to. I want them to be able to sort the data by clicking on a button. But new records added after that need to show up at the bottom of the list until the sort button is clicked again.
View 2 RepliesJust spent about 8 hours googling and looking through this forum for a solution on how to make sure that I can dynamically sort. Here is the situation.
I have 1 Gridview that displays 10 different scenarios based on what button is clicked.
I am also returning only top 10 records. I am doing all of the data binding pragmatically. So I have BoundFields, HyperLinkFields etc.
I also want to sort some records. When I change DataSource SQL statement the gridview somehow remembers what the last sort value was and it errors out saying that value "x" cannot be sorted because it does not exists.
I tried this:
Tried setting gridview1.sqldatasourceid = null; gridview1.allowsorting = false; gridview1.databind();
Here I get an error that says that the data source does not support sorting? Doesnt it say gridview1.allowsorting = false;
I also tried gridview1.sort("", SortDirection.Ascending); This does nothin... except query my database one more time because i have a onSorting event that looks like this:
[Code]....
Here is an example of just one of those SLQ statements inside GetSQLQuery:
[Code]....
i read Matt Berseth article also i downloaded this source. But i can not do sorting event. Everything is ok but sorting is not working.
[Code]....

I have a repeater using paging (see code below) I want to be able to offer a button that sorts the results by price and one for alphabetical order. I'm not sure how to achieve this with my current system. Would it just be a case of altering the sql select statement on click?
Private Sub BindRepeater()
Dim dv As DataView
dv = CType(SqlDataSource3.Select(DataSourceSelectArguments.Empty), DataView)
PagedResults.DataSource = dv
PagedResults.AllowPaging = True
PagedResults.PageSize = 9
PagedResults.CurrentPageIndex = CurrentPage
lnkBtnNext1.Visible = Not PagedResults.IsLastPage
lnkBtnPrevious1.Visible = Not PagedResults.IsFirstPage
Repeater1.DataSource = PagedResults
Repeater1.DataBind()
doPaging()
End Sub

Say i have a Laptop for 600.00. Say i change it to $650.00. How do shopping carts handle that? Like do they store the price in the cart or the item? How do they make sure they get the price they wanted but not bill the customer the new change without asking them? Or do most store them in both?
I was thinking maybe i could store it in both.So if the current price is over the cart price for a item, don't remove it/bill them from their cart. Then after, tell them what was billed/email a receipt for the items that didn't change that was billed(say they had more then one item) and remove it from the cart. For the items that did change, say something like "Items left in cart due to price change, check if you still want to buy the items at the new price." So leave the items that changed in the cart but update the price in the cart.
I don't think the language should matter. Guess this is more of a logical type question. Do most shopping carts do it this way or is there a better way?
I have a catalog that hase standard pricing now i need to increase this to 5% for each product. this is the way i bind the data:
Price:<%#Eval("Price",
"{0:c}")%>
declare @FinallyGrandTotal float
declare @total float
set @total = 45.3699
set @FinallyGrandTotal = @total
in the above code ther is a total price 45.3699
I want add to FinallyGrandTotal this but with just 2 letters after the dot
that mean @FinallyGrandTotal = 45.3699
45.36 and not 45.3699
i am working through the MvcMusicStore Tutorial Version 2.0 from 1/12/2010. I do have an issue with the EDIT Screen. When trying to save an album i get the error "The field Price must be a number". The value of the Price was not changed, it contains e.g. 8,99. I don´t know where this error comes from and what i need to do to avoid this error.
View 4 Repliesi have a scenario where i have to remove the invalid character from price using c# code.i want the regular ex to remove the character or some thing good then this.
For Ex- my price is
"3,950,000 ( Ex. TAX )"
i want to remove "( Ex. TAX )" from the price.my scenario is that. i have to remove the any character from string except number,dot(.), and comma(,)
I have been messing around with a Shopping Cart Tutorial i found on NetTuts+ I would be keen to find out how get the products from a Databse rather than use the product class they have made for the tutorial.
