ADO.NET :: Not Duplicate / Query A Products Table Based On Categories Selected By The User?
Feb 22, 2011
i posted a question yesterday but it got taken off by moderator mbanavige with the reason indicating it was a duplicate post. i know for sure it was the first time i was asking that question. i will have to ask it again NOW because it was deleted. hope THIS one does not duplicate the one i made yesterday. so here goes:
I need to query a products table based on categories selected by the user. The selection of the categories is a checkbox list, and user can select any number of categories (including none at all). I only know how to compare one parameter at a time. Like this:
I am having problems in getting product data when using different levels of categories. My knowledge of SQL is also very limited.
Here is what i have so far
TABLES Categories CategoryID (PK) int CategoryName nvchar(max) allow null ParentID int allow null Data for this table 1,Soaps,null 2,Original Range,1 3,Premium Range,1 4,Speciality Range,1 5,Seasonal Collection,4 6,Selection,4 Products ProductID (PK) int ProductName nvarchar(max) ProductDescription nvarchar(max) allow null ProductPrice money CategoryID int
Data for this table
1,Prod1,some text,0.25,6 2,Prod2,some text,0.25,6
I have some linq to sql in the page load event that populates a list view,
[Code]....
Now when the category passed in from the query string is 6 then the products with a category of are shown correctly but category 6 is a child category of 4 and 4 is a child of 1 so when i pass in 4 as the category i should still be retrieving the data for products 1 and 2.
I am using SQL Server2005 with asp.net. I want validation at server side to restrict duplicate entries, Here i am using two tables companies and Branches. In Branches Table i had maintain a foreign key of CompanyId. In Branches the BranchName can be duplicate but not for the Particular CompanyId
I am building a shopping cart with datatable in C#.net.As i select the product again for shopping cart, besides inceasing the quantity of the product.it is showing the product again in gridview.
On the left hand side I have a tree navigation . It is populated from a XML file with . What I want to achive is when a querystring of the value of the XML file is matched , the tree node sets a setfocus or highlights on a particular node from the querystring passed through. I cant find a method which mimmicks findtreenode with value x and sets a selected .
I'm using SqlMembershipProvider and SqlRoleProvider for user management.
Users are created by
Dim MCS As System.Web.Security.MembershipCreateStatus Dim NewUser As MembershipUser = Membership.CreateUser(TB_UserName.Text, TB_Pw.Text, TB_Email.Text, TB_SecQuestion.Text, TB_SecAnswer.Text, False, MCS) later, after email confirmation, I take the user into a specified role Dim myUser As System.Web.Security.MembershipUser = Nothing myUser = Membership.GetUser(New Guid(Request("RegID")))Catch If myUser IsNot Nothing Then myUser.Comment += " approved " Membership.UpdateUser(myUser) Roles.AddUserToRole(myUser.UserName, "role") End if
After this I have two entries with the same UserName in aspnet_Users table, but with different UserId's. One UserId is referenced in aspnet_Membership table and the other in the aspnet_UsersInRoles table.
Question basically crams it all in... I'm loading a page with a querystring (ID), and I need to use that ID to set the selected item of a ListView when the page loads. The ID is a DataKey on the ListView. I have no code of value to post--none of my attempts at this work.
ItemNo refno Process Name Qty 001 1 A John 50 001 2 A Jon 150 002 3 B Kalis 100 003 4 A Bob 300 Second Table ItemNo Newrefno Process Name Qty 001 001 ZZ peter 50 001 001/a ZkZ Joe 70 002 002 Ab Ray 100 Result Set 001 A John 200 001/a ZZ ZkZ peter joe 50 70 002 B Kalis 100 002 Ab Null Ray Null 100 Null 003 A Bob 300 null null null null null null null
Here first row of the result set explanation:
up to this 001 A John 200 based on first table sum...
and 001/a zz ZkZ peter joe 50 70
here 001/a newrefno of 001 so i need to show all the ItemNo 001 record in one row like the above resultset.
I have 2 Tables , OrderDetails and Requests In my LINQ to SQL dbml file. OrderDetailsID is a foreign key in Requests Table. I want to write the query to get the sum of UnitCost from OrderDetails based on OrderId. And If there is a row in Requests Table for each OrderDetailsID, and the Requests.Last.RequestType="Refund" I want to reduce the total refund amount from the main sum otherwise If there is no row based on OrderDetailsID, add to sum. Here is the way I implement that. I am looking to prevent using "For each".
iRefund = (From od1 In dc.OrderDetails _ Where od1.OrderID =1 _ Select od1.UnitCost).Sum Dim objOrderDetails = (From od1 In dc.OrderDetails _ Where od1.OrderID =1 _ Select od1) For Each OrderDetail As ORM.Entities.OrderDetail In objOrderDetails If Not OrderDetail.Requests Is Nothing Then IF OrderDetail.Requests.Last.RequestType="Refund" Then iRefund -= OrderDetail.UnitCost End If End If Next
I am building a little app to upload a picture and various downloads for different file types for the photos, but I also need be able to select the catergory they will go into. So I have two tables one that stores the catergory names and one that holds the paths to the photos and downloads the tables are related through the catergoryID.
What I need is those catergories to show up in the photo's and downloads table so that when I go to upload the photos I will be able to select the categories.
I have also built the DataSet and the Business Logic.
I have a LINQ Query that includes an order by that is based on a user preference. The user can decide if they would like the results ordered asc or desc.
I'm trying to design a page that displays all suppliers by their location. I'd quite like this to work from a query that will automatically include new locations added in the future.
At the moment my design has a table that holds 'locations' with locationID and locationName fields. In my 'suppliers' table I also have a locationID to join them.
I'm not sure how to query the database to return all the suppliers in location 1, then all in location 2. (Or even sure of the terms I need to Google to get some examples!) For example:
I am a student at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi and im working on my Senior Project. For my project i have chosen to use ASP.net MVC 2. Most things seem to be going well, but im having a real issue with the ListBoxFor() method. I have read a ton of posts on this website, StackOverflow as well as others. Here is a description of my problem.
One of the major points of my project is to create a directory of healthcare service providers in Mississippi. These providers can be sorted into multple categories, which creates a many-to-many relationship. Im using a ListBoxFor() to display those categories when the user would like to edit or create a provider. In the case of creation things work well. However in the case of editing an existing provider, i am unable to figure out how to get the providers's categories to be selected on the load of the page. Below is a look at some of the code. I would be so thankful to anyone who could help me tackle this issue
I have two text boxes for the user to enter UserName & First Name, both these fields are optional and not mandatory to fill.
once the user presses the Search button, i execute the following query to fetch matching records.
[Code]....
The problem is, in cases where User leaves both the textbox or one of the textbox empty/blank, in that case that particular field should be removed from where clause.
More like if something is entered then search for that particular record otherwise search for all the records.
've created a simple gridView which lists all products based on category within a dropDownMenu (select * where CatID = dropDownMenu). This works just fine, but is there a simple way to add 'Show All' in the dropDownMenu -
I want to add unlimited categories and sub categories facility, But I couldn't solve it for last two days.
1. DB
CategID,CategName,parentid
Data:
CategID CategName Parent ID 1 Electronics 0 (where 0 means it is main category) 2 TV 1 (Self Join whith the categ id Electronics) 3 Panasonic 2 4 LG 2 5 Toys 0 6 Girls Toys 5 7 Boys Toys 5 8 Criket Related 7 9 Dolls 6
Here I want to display this data in Combo Box like
I have a sql table (ProductsOffers) in which I store all the offers posted for each Product it consists of columns
offerId int ProductId int ProductSpec nvarchar 50 OfferDate DateTime OfferId + ProductId = My primary Key
everyday there will be many offers for each model and some of them may have no offer in this day. Now Suuppose that I have 10 Products with 15 offers. I want a sql sentence or function that let me select the latest offer for each product. When I select by date it returns the last inserted offer and they may have repeated products and also there will be some products not appear in the result. how can I get a result with the latest 10 Offers for all my products with one offer per product
I have a TextBox entry field where the user will enter a integer value. And then there is a "Create" button, which when clicked upon must generate a Table with 2 columns :
"Name" and "Email" being the column headers.
I want each row to have a textbox in each of these columns.
All of this has to happen after the button is clicked. I have discovered that if you dynamically add a control in ASP.NET(I am using C#) then the controls are lost during postback. And I don't know how to prevent that from happening.
Can somebody give me some ideas regarding how to go about adding rows dynamically to a table (I tried using the asp.net Server side table control but ran into the "lost-during-postback" problem - can I try with something else like a gridview ? but afaik a GV will not work without data bound to it )
Point to note is that my table has textboxes for user entry and it is not for showing data ..rather it is for accepting data from the user which will be later used to persist details to the database.
(Using SQL Server 2008 and ASP.NET MVC2)I have a simple business table and a category table. I have a 3rd table to map business to category, a many-to-many relationship. the Map table contains a BusinessID and CategoryID. I'm lost as to how I can load the categories into my Business View Model using the entities model.Without incorporating categories, my code looks like this:
[Code]....
with Business View Model defined as:
[Code]....
but if i want to populate the Categories with the mapped categories, how would one do that?
I am developing a website that display products and the users will be able to rate these products. At the end of the month a winner product will be highlighted on the website home page. What I need to know is how to determine the winner product if I have the following rating scenario, The user will rate for the product by choosing a value from 1 to 5 where 1 mean bad and 5 excellent.
If 10 users voted for the product A and the average rating was 4 and 1 user voted for product B and the average rating were 5 that mean product B will be the winner. I feel this is not the correct method to determine the winner. one has better method that take in consideration the number of voted users to determine the winner?
I have a parent repeater that lists the sections of the website. this repeater binds to display a table that contain another repeater of the website pages .. or may display a table that contains another two repeaters of the projects categories and sub-categories.Until now everything is going fine.
The problem comes when I try to include a query of the section ID to the link of the project categories (DataView of the projects repeaters does not contain SectionID)my question is : is there any way to call the SectionID of the first repeater in my projects categories and sub-categories repeaters? Here is my code:
i want when user click in this item on jquery menu in Furniture.aspx will show all product in this item H_name is'nt important i want show all product with different H_name
Coming from PHP it's common to have a simple class that makes talking to a database very easy. Do people use the same approach in .net, or do you have a class for say products, which handles all database communications for the products table?
