Trying To Create A Repository Class For Each Table
Dec 17, 2010
I am trying to create a repository class for each table. For example I have TableA, TableB and TableC. TableB and TableC has Foreign key to TableA. I created an interface for TableA, TableB and TableC with SaveData() and ListData(). I have MVC form which inserts the data into these tables. When implementing these interface methods do I have to create a seperate class for each interface? Please let me if I am doing right.
I am sort of using a repository pattern to extract information from a database. I have two classes, report and reportRepository.
The trouble I have is that since reportReposity has to fill in all the details for the report object, all the members in the report have to be publicly accessible.
Is there a way so that I can ensure that only the repository class can access some of the methods of the report class and only it can set some of the properties that other classes cannot, sort of like what friend does in c++. Or is there a completely different way of handling this situation?
i am trying to create a data repository and i am using L2S for the ORM.
I have created a stored procedure called sp7DayAnalysisByStock which accepts a string parameter and returns a recordset of data rows. iThe result is a set of PriceList objects which is already available in the dbml.
What i now want to is create a data repository class with the signature below;
public IQueryable<PriceLists> Get7DayStockAnalysis(string stockname) { }
it seems what is being returned is ISingleResult..How can i return EITHER IQueryable<PriceLists> or any IList?
My repositories throw exceptions (System.Exception) when some things go bad and I know this is bad practice.. so i will create a custom exception (DataException). My question is should this custom ex class be in the repository layer or the domain layer? Im thinking it should be in Domain layer where all business objects and repository interfaces live but just want to make sure.
I have- empId - PK, CurrentUserId in one table,mpId- FK in other table.now i want to get empId of related currentUserId ,and want to add empId in other table having FK,using Repository,what will be in create method?
Just wondering, in an ASP.NET MVC3 environnement with entity framework. Should the Unit of Work point to the service layer or the repository (and then the repository point to the service layer) ?
Ive saw two example:
* One where the unit of work and repository both have an instance to the service layer..
Link: Entity Framework 4 CTP 4 / CTP 5 Generic Repository Pattern and Unit Testable
Doesn't use a service layer but its obvious that one could be use in that case.
* Second where the unit of work have an instance to the repository which have an instance to the service layer..
I'm assuming I need to use a pivot table from what I've found so far. However, every one that I've seen has not had the date setup like I have.
I have a Gridview on my page which I need to be populated like so
Date NCMR
1/1/10-1/31/10 #
2/1/10-2/28/10 #
I want to do this for 10 months... bottom record being the current month (or last month). I would also like the Date to format to January 2010 I used the above date format because that is how it is in the table. Basically, I need to know how to create the pivot table to search the table for 1/*/10, 2/*/10, etc
I am dynamically creating a table that contains a textbox in each cell. The table is put in a placeholder control. Everything displays perfectly. The problem is when I go to retrieve the values entered in the cells. I have the code to generate the table in a separate method called CreateTable(). In order for my program to find a table in the placeholder when I go to save, I have to run CreateTable() in a postback event AND in the PageLoad event. If I call CreateTable() in only one of those places and I try to save, it says the placeholder is empty and, therefore, I cannot save the textbox contents. I've tried calling CreateTable() from InitLoad but that doesn't work because it needs to reference values from three static controls: 1 dropdown, 1 listbox, and 1 calendar control, which I don't believe have had their viewstate rendered yet.
I want to create a temporary table where the columns of that temporary table needs to be dynamic (those columns needs to come from the rows of another table)
I have 2 tables in my database ie product, order details.In my mvc application i was able to display products from product table.I created products.cs class in my entities,IProductRepository.cs in Abstract folder and SQLProductRepository.cs in Concrete folder..Do i need create a separate class for all the order details too?I was using apress book to develop my mvc application
I´m looking for some advice on how to create an table showing bookings, a table containing mon-sun on the horizontal axis and times at the vertical. The admin is able to edit each days bookable times (first bookable time, last bookable time) - The slottime is constant.
What I want is let the admin click on eacha cell to remove it/add it when removed. And other features as well, like create an booking for a customer.
What would be the easiest way to achive this, at the moment I use dynamic links since I cant get asp:buttons to work and the code to create an dynamic asp:table row by row and this produces some ugly code.
So any advice on how to achive such an "schedule".
All I want to do is learn how to create a class procedure. And then. How to call it. As an example, A + B = C is the procedure. I would create a class. Right? Then do I name the procedure and put it in the class? Or create a new class for each procedure? Then I would want to, on a local level, substitue values for A & B to return C. So, if the public procedure exists, how to I call it? I know that this is really simple stuff, but I need examples to be simple.
I am trying to create a pageBase class where I can dynamically pull data from the database and display it on a web page. Each page I specifically set an ID for the sql query which pulls back the information such as page title and page text.
my problem is that I can't seem to pass the information captured from the query to the page. I get problems such as can't convert string type to literal and I need to declare a new keyword to an object.
A instance of a class is created in the partial class of an aspx page.Under page_load or button click method I'm trying to set the value to the class. but when each postback takes place new instance is created and I'm losing the previous value.
public partial class DatabaseSelection : System.Web.UI.Page { DBProperties dbpro; Metadata obmeta; protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!IsPostBack) { dbpro = new DBProperties(); }
Yet when I try to create an object of this control type in a class (in my app_code folder) it doesn't allow me.
Controls_MyUserControl dummy = new Controls_MyUserControl();
The potentially strange thing is when I put this code into a code behind of a page, it works.
what I need to do to have the usercontrol to be able to be created in my class in the app_code folder?
My guess is, is that I need to reference the control in a "using" statement at the top, but I'm not sure what that'd be.
It's not in a namespace to my knowledge (at least there's no namespace, in the code behind of the actually user controls). Though I'm not sure if it inherits one from the System.Web.UI.UserControl.
I am using vs 2010, mvc, linq to sqlMy Model is .dbmliletbl_teacher,tbl_class,tbl_subject etc are involvedI write code in my controller for table join.
