View 2 RepliesI'm contributing on an I18N project and there's a call to serialize our *.resx files as JSON objects (for whatever reason).
What I'm wondering is:
Is there a way to get a list of all of the valid keys for a given *.resx file so that we could use HttpContext.GetGlobalResourceObject to grab the tokens?
If that won't work, has anyone come up with a clever solution that does?
I just wanted to hear some authorities on when and where you should use a LITERAL control over a LABEL. As I understand it, the difference is this: A LABEL can be styled via the <SPAN> tags that are added.
I personally find the addition of <SPAN> tags in my HTML to be very annoying and never actually apply styles through ASP, and so LITERALs seem to be what should be used most of the time... but I'm concerned there's other considerations or benefits to using a LABEL over it that I'm unaware of.
Is it 100% completely fine to replace any LABELs with LITERALs, provided we're not applying styles to them? Are there NO other considerations?
I have an ASP.NET web application with a .resx file in App_GlobalResources whose resources are typically accessed like this:
ASPX: <asp:Literal ID="l1" runat="server" Text="<%$ Resources:GalleryServerPro, Admin_Tab_Hdr %>" />
Code-behind: string msg = Resources.GalleryServerPro.Successfully_Restored_Msg;
Is there any way to compile the .resx values directly into the DLL so that I can deploy the app without the .resx file and not have to edit any of the existing code?I ask this because I am porting an existing app to a DotNetNuke module and DotNetNuke does not allow .resx files, so I am looking for a workaround.
How can i get value from local .resx file in asp.net?
View 2 RepliesHow to view .resx resource files, which are under app_globalresources.
We have a project with lot of resource files.
I want to insert string (name and value) with programmability.

View 1 RepliesIs there any way to use a Reouser file (.resx) as global outside of App_GlobalResources?
Maybe with some kind of Resource Manager?
i have some global resource files that store my dictionary for app.when a key is not in the resource file i return the key.
public Object MyGetGlobalResourceObject(string classKey, string resourceKey)
{
try
{
if (GetGlobalResourceObject(classKey, resourceKey) == null)
i want to add the resourceKey to the classKey file.
I have a CMS that allows an administrator to add/create pages for his website.
When a page is created a SiteMapNode is added to the web.sitemap file with the an url , title and resourceKey.
Now I wish to add a resourcekey to the appropriate web.sitemap.resx file(located in App_GlobalResources).
I have tried many different ways :
- using XMLDocument load/save => says I don't have access to write to that resource file
- ResourceReader says the source stream is not valid.
I'm using a .resx file which have some name and values.. I wanna read the values programatically.. the recource file is inApp_GlobalResources folder of the project..
I'm using Visual Studio 2008.. and C# as Code behind.
I'm using .resx file in my project. when i build the application the satellite assemblies are created under bin directory. If i add this dll in other application then these satellite assemblies are added in other application bin directory. I want to add only the dll reference, not any other dlls so how to create a single dll for this scenario?
View 1 RepliesI was wondering how guys did you manage this in your company or website, to let owner of the website, to update content of the website, when it's resx file compiled.What would be the best option to do that without requiring a developer intervention
View 4 RepliesEvery time I edit a resource file in VS, it regenerates the corresponding code and sets the class access modifier to internal.It's a pain to Ctrl-F -> ReplaceAll every time I edit the resx. Is there a property/setting so that I can default this to public?
internal class MyResource {
internal static global::System.Resources.ResourceManager ResourceManager {...}
}
I need all those internal to be public all the time.
I have a page with a datalist on it, with an image button and some labels in the datalist item(1,2)..
I have some more labels on the page which get their values from querystrings(17,18)..
I have more labels which are empty (34,35)
On image click in the datalist item, i want the labels from that item to add with the labels outside of the datalist, and the last lot of labels to show this number..
Currently it doesnt do this. Here is my code:
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Label17.Text = Request["b1"];
Label18.Text = Request["b2"];
}
protected void ImageButton1_Click(object sender, ImageClickEventArgs e)
{
DataListItem item = ((Control)sender).NamingContainer as DataListItem;
Label Label1 = item.FindControl("Label1") as Label;
Label Label2 = item.FindControl("Label2") as Label;
Label34.Text = (int.Parse(Label1.Text) + int.Parse(Label17.Text)).ToString();
Label35.Text = (int.Parse(Label2.Text) + int.Parse(Label18.Text)).ToString();
I hv a file upload control which save files in folder upload_html. When I upload file of same name which already exists upload_html folder it does't replace that file.........
I want that file to be replaced from that folder.............
In my asp.net project i have a folder (folder name "Data").
I upload .pdf file and save the .pdf file in My Data folder.
In same day if i upload same name file then the previous file is overwrite without any message.
So I would like to know, how can i show a message like ("same name file is exit ,Do u want to replace it").
I have a virtual web folder that has large number of PDF Files (Leave Forms) submitted over the past 5 years.
The users and other applications have direct references to such files and on some cases, the PDF is referenced as embedded object.
Here is a snapshot of where the PDFs are stored:
So, the direct link to the PDF will look like the following:
[URL]
Becuase the PDFs are stored under a folder under the ASP.NET Web Application, it was a bad idea.
Now, I have to move them all to another location which is simply a virtual folder outside the Web Application.
All Leave PDF Forms have Unique URLs which is:
"SessionID" + "/" + "Leave-userid-start-date.pdf"
So, I need to replace the above link with the following after I move the PDF Files. I want the replacement to happen at the time it is requested from the Client Browser. The new URL will look like the following:
[URL]
So, whether it is requester from IE from any other Object Tag or similar, then the input URL should be replaced with the new URL as shown above.
I have a class project with only localized .resx file, means AxRes.de.resx. An MVC project with a resource folder an in the public AxRes.resx neutral (en) resource what can be reached by project-name.resource.AxRes.label-name. If now the satelite dll is copied to inde the german label shoud appear, but it doesn't. What must be done when referencing satelite assemblies? Can all resources be in the class project, how to link these to my MVC project?
View 2 RepliesI am developing an ASP.NET 3.5 web application which allows users to upload files to the server. If the user is uploading a file which is already there in the folder then I want to show a ASP.NET AJAX modal popup asking the user whether he wants to replace the existing file or not and continue the operation depending on the user's input. Is there a way to do this?
View 3 RepliesI'm working on an ASP.NET web application for our corporate intranet users. I have a form where a user should provide a path to the file on the local network (something like "localServersomeFoldersomeFile.ext") without uploading the actual file. The issue is that users don't want to type the whole file path and want to use some kind of visual browse dialog.
The standard HTML <input type=file> element allows to browse for a file, but most of the browsers (except for IE) don't allow to access file's full path, so I think it should be done by some external component like Silverlight, Flash, Java applet etc. I tried to do it with Silverlight, but I'm getting a SecurityException when trying to access file's full path using Silverlight's OpenFileDialog class. This java applet [URL] seems to do something similar to what I'm looking for, but it's focused on uploading files - I only need to be able to get file's full path and pass it to the server as a string.
I have a css file which I want to read from disk and in that content I want to find and replace all linebreaks (do I look for vbCrlf or ...?)
Public Shared Function GetFileContents(ByVal FullFilename As String) As String
Dim filecontents As String = ""
If File.Exists(FullFilename) Then
Dim objStreamReader As StreamReader
objStreamReader = File.OpenText(FullFilename)
filecontents = objStreamReader.ReadToEnd()
objStreamReader.Close()
End If
Return filecontents
End Function
So in the returned variable "filecontents" I want to find and replace any linebreaks.
FILE: style.css
#progress{color:#000;width:500px;height:30px;padding:0px;clear:both;}
#progress ul{list-style:none;padding:0px;margin: auto;display:block;}
#progress ul li{list-style:none;display:inline;float:left;width:auto;height:30px;padding:0px;line-height:30px; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:13px;}
I need to replace <span> entries in a string to legacy html code because it's going to be used in a report for Crystal Reports. <b> works with Crystal, but the<span>'s do not.
Here's the string which I'm trying to replace: <span style="font-weight: bold">%THIS CAN BE ANY TEXT%</span>. I want to replace it to
<b>%THIS CAN BE ANY TEXT%</b>.
[Code]....
I am referring [URL] .... how to prevent file to replace when file with same name uploaded, as it replace old one in folder.
