Example: url is [URL]
I click an asp:Button which cause a postback, but now the url comes up:
[URL]
There is nothing special in the button, just id and runat.
This only happens when I start with the "/88" in the starting url?
Why, and how can I prevent the duplication. After the postback I want the url to be the same as when started.
I have a page register.aspx that a user can use to register on my website. Once the registration process is completed, I redirect the user to thankyou.aspx where he will get a code to activate his account.
My problem is this: from the thankyou.aspx page, if the user click the "previous button" on the navigator, he can still have access to the information he had previously submitted and might cause data duplication . I don't want this to happen. I want in that case to redirect him back to thankyou.aspx or another page which will be different than the register.aspx.
My questions are:
1. how can I prevent the user to use the "previous button" on the navigator to avoid data duplication?
2. in case question 1 cannot be done, how can I know in register.aspx that the user comes from thankyou.aspx (which should not normally happen) so that I can redirect him to another page?
My approch was before redirecting to thankyou.aspx, I concatenated session.sessionID and another data to be retrieved on thankyou page. And on thankyou.aspx, I destroy the session after the page was loaded by using Session.Contents.RemoveAll(). And here, nothing happens. The session is still on when using the previous button.
I would like to know how to avoid the same operation from being performed twice after some action has been taken on the gridview.
i.e. on clicking a button in gridview, operations in RowCommand get executed. Then on doing a page refresh, the same thing gets done again.
How can we avoid this?

The problem is, when i type something in Departmetn textbox, and click on the button, you have to click twice to get the actual results up. This is because the first click is doing the "AutoPostBack" part from the text box, and then you have to click again to make the actual click postback to happen.

Validators and button belong to the same validation group. How to avoid button click and page load events happening when some validators aren't correct? In page without formview everything works ok, I click "Save" button and when all validators are correct only then happens button click event. How to fix that with form view?

I want to show a confirm dialog when the user selects an item in a DropDownList. If the user presses "Cancel", I want to stop the postback. Here is the function I add to the onchange event:

The problem is that the postback occurs even if the user selects "Cancel". If I move the handler on to the click event, it works. But it feels clunky to me.

Correction: it doesn't work onclick, because the dialog prevents selection, so when the user selects OK, no change has taken place, and no postback when you want it!

The DropDownList is inside an UpdatePanel so that may affect behavior.
i have a dropdownlist (asp.net control) and a listbox control and a Add button when the user select the item from dropdownlist and click on add button to add to the listbox.
how can i prevent the user from adding duplciate items and alert saying its already in the listbox?

in my particular scenario, i have a dropdwonlist and adding the item to listbox both are asp.net controls and i am adding the items from code-behind and your solution is pure on client side, is there a way i can read the listbox and compare and alert the message?
Simple one here... is there a clean way of preventing a user from double-clicking a button in a web form and thus causing duplicate events to fire?
If I had a comment form for example and the user types in "this is my comment" and clicks submit, the comment is shown below... however if they double-click, triple-click or just go nuts on the keyboard they can cause multiple versions to be posted.
Client-side I could quite easily disable the button onclick - but I prefer server-side solutions to things like this

I have 2 listboxes, when i add a item retrieved from database to Listbox1, i need to select the item and bring it to listbox2. But i do not want to have same records added again. In my case, i cannot use the codes below

I am learning asp.net web development. I have create a table with the column "username". But i don't know how to prevent the Duplicate "username".

Now we are worried that since the site is public what could happen to the Jira server if we get alot of issues in the production environment.
We have already filtered on Critical and Fatal, but we want to see either some acumulator service on log4net or a plain filter which identifies repeating issues and prevents them from being sent via Email. John will be in the table twice but will be linked to the others via another data-member. What i dont want is james to be down as johns friend twice in the table. In my gridview their are 5 columns (Student Id,Student name,Roll no,and a checkbox column,Date Textbox column which is empty) in which the data is retrieved from student master table....
I m adding the date in the textbox which is out of the gridview and when i check the checkbox for each student the data is stored in another table in database with a status as present for the checked students and absent for the unchecked students...
What i want is dat when i check the student and i select the date for the student and the data is entered in new table after all this i wld not be allowed to make the attendance for the same student for the same date bt i wld be allowed to mark attendance for the same student for another date..
for example i check the checkbox for the student "Rohit" and entered the date 1/1/13 and rohit is stored with status present in the another table for date 1/1/13 and now he shld be disabled so dat i wld not be able to mark his attendance for the date 1/1/13 and prevent the duplication...Bt after dat i would be allowed to mark "Rohit's" attendance for the date 2/1/13...
means he should be disabled for the single date...
I have an issue that I've been fighting with for some time. I have a large web form, with update panels and autopostback controls. When the users click "submit", some custom javascript runs which shows validation summaries and turns the fields with errors red, relatively easy, and it works as expected. The problem is that I have a dropdownlist which should autopostback an update panel. It does this perfectly if the user does not click the submit button, and therefore my custom client script dosesn't execute.However, if a user clicks submit, the custom client script executes (turns fields red and shows validation summaries), and then the dropdownlist does NOT autopostback the first time a user changes it's value. If the user changes the dropdownlist's value a second time, then the autopost back occurs and everything functions as it should. I don't understand why the autopostback is disabled for the first click after the javascript executes. Can someone please help me out? The DropDown List looks like:

I've got some dynamic created buttons in my GridView (adding them OnDataBound), but when I click some button in makes a strange PostBack and all my added button desappears... Also Click event doesn't happens.
How to :
1) Make my dynamic Button inside GridView do not disappear after clicking one of them.
2) Make this click methode works somehow ...

Have a dropdown list with autopostback set to 'yes' have another dropdown list box that will be populated based on the selection of the first dropdown. It works fine until I put a submit botton on the form. When I do it appears to not do the auto postback until the submit button is pushed. Can you have a submit button on a form that has a dropdown with autopostback active.

I am having problem with multiple clicks on submit button. Multiple clicks cause duplicate record insertion in database. On the form, I have used validation controls. Also I have to make some validations at server side, so I can't use javascript to prevent multiple clicks.
