I am having 3 cascaded drop downlists and a many check boxes. On Click of button i want the all the values of Selected items. How can i achieve this. I know that this can be done by having a action method with HttpPost attribute. But the dropdown lists are not strongly typed with my model.
View 3 RepliesI was told to use a Repeater control in what I am doing which is a "Data Entry" screen with ASP.NET controls -a standard "address" like form. In cases, the fields on the form will repeated twice, once for the original values, one for the changed values. I have not used this control before but it seems like I have to bind to a database. Instead, I have an Entity object that has been obtained via a Repository. Can I bind to an object like this?

I want to do a form submit from Default.aspx in webapp1 and recieve the value in webapp2.
I tried to do it with simply setting action ="webapp2 location" but it is throwing the bellow error
Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster.
I even added the machinekey element to web.config
but it is still showing the same error.

In my website I have two forms: parent form and child form(dialog box). Their expected behaviour is like this: if clicked on 'show' button on parent form, a dialog form opens that displays a gridview. In dialog form, if clicked on 'select' button it closes
itself and returns value in selected row back to parent form.
To achieve this I write following code (.cs) : in parent form:

Now problem is: the code in parent .cs works fine, it opens the dialog properly. But when clicked on 'select', instead of returning back to parent, it opens the same dialog again in new window. This newly open window says "Done but error on page" at left bottom.
I'm using HttpModule to capture requests to the web server. Before processing the page I'd like to check the values contained in some keys of the Request.Form collection and according to some logic change if necessary. I'd like to do this when BeginRequest event is fired. The problem is that the Request.Form collection is readonly.

The user can edit information on this page and wont get it saved to the database unless they specifically say, save. However, there is a list at the bottom of this page that you can add/edit and delete elements. Adding and editing takes you to a different page, and before the page change happens, i want to save the form data to session memory, but i dont know how to access it outside a postback. Can MVC do this?

The following rule example is written in two ways. The 1st one validates against the numeric values in form, the 2nd one validates using the associated object (lookup table in database) description via the foreign key. I would like to use the 2nd method, but during the Create postback the associated object is always null.

The code is full of string processing. http://hostname.domain[port number]/application name?arg1=value1...&argN=valueN onsidering that URL parameters are always encoded it is litter difficult to rely on string processing. Also not sure if one can rely 100% on the URLEncode/Decode functions of the JavaScript.

sorry for the naive question, but it looks it should work and it does not. Say I have this simple scenario: a controller with its view with a single action, Index. The view has a form with a dropdown with some letters and submit button. When the form is submitted (to the same Index action of the same controller) the controller should fetch from a repository all the persons whose last name begins with the selected letter and pass it back to the view. This works the 1st time I submit the form, but whenever I click the next/previous button of the pager the Index action is invoked but I cannot read the dropdown selection: I tried with Request.Form and with a different signature in the action (by adding it a string LastName parameter), but I always get NULL instead of the selected value, so that the query returns no persons. What I'm doing wrong? How can I read the dropdown value across posts to the same action?

Question - how on earth do I access the parameter values? I am not posting from a View, the post is coming externally. I'm assuming there is a collection of key/value pairs I have access to. I tried Request.Params.Get("simpleTextBox"); but it returns error "Sorry, an error occurred while processing your request.".

View 1 RepliesI know this has got to be the simplest-sounding question ever asked about ASP.Net but I'm baffled. I have a form wherein my visitor will enter name, address, etc. Then I am POSTing that form via the PostBackUrl property of my Submit button to another page, where the fields are supposed to be all re-formed into new hidden fields, then POSTed again to Paypal.
My problem is I cannot get at the values entered by the visitor in the original page. Any time I put in "runat='server'", ASP.Net completely changes the ID of the control, making it impossible to figure out how to access. In the POSTed form I tried Request.Form["_txtFirstName"] and that turned up null. Then I tried ((TextBox)PreviousPage.FindControl("_txtFirstName")).Text and that was null, too. I've tried variations on those. I cannot figure out how I'm supposed to get at these controls. Why does this stuff need to be so difficult?
I have a user control I am adding dynamically. It has a link button and a text area on it. The containing div is hidden via style sheet (client side), and I use some jquery to pop it up in a modal. It is getting added in the init and the button click event is firing on the server. BUT the textareas value is not being set. On further inspection the field value is not even being sent in the form POST data. why the value is not being sent. The rest of the form values are being sent with no problems.

I have a formview that I want to prepopulate some values based on some dropdowns that the end user chooses.
The formview is in insert mode tied to a datasource so the insert will be easy because it is tied to a dataset.
Just thinking of best way to prepopulate these fields. I am going for a best practice these days.
The one way I planned on doing it, was after they selected the dropdowns I will grab the values from the datasource and do a findcontrol on the formview to populate them.

View 1 RepliesUpon clicking a button I need to send a collection and a few other variables to server in Json form.For each value in the collection the server code (C# ) wil update those other variables in the DB.
For example there is a ‘classnumber’ collection with values (First, Second, Third, ….),other variables (‘teacher_name’ and ‘subjectname’).For each value in the ‘classnumber’ collection I need to update the ‘teacher_name’ by searching for the ‘subject_name’ in the DB.So I need to pass the ‘classnumber’ collection,’teacher_name’,’subject_name’ values to server in json form. At the moment instead of sending the ‘classnumber’ collection I am sending ‘teacher_name’,’subject_name’,’classnumber’ as variables for each value in the collection ,which requires multiple requests made to the server.
Instead of these individual requests I am wondering if there is a way to send all the data at once to server in json form?
