JQuery Form Submit Handler Doesn't Trigger When TextField Changes By Watin In MVC App?
Aug 20, 2010
I am writing Watin test in MVC Asp.net app. I mvc app, all input are wrpped with form and every time an input or textarea is changed their form gets submitted by jquery like code below:
This is perfect when changes are done by keyboard. However this doesn't trigger the form submit when input/textarea are changed by Watin TypeText() method. I tried to call Change() and Blur() events by Watin and also tried PressTab() with no luck.
Trying to get a helloworld web application up running in Visual Web Developer 2010.
Now I created a new project with Home controller and two default views (index and about).
Then in the index view I added a button and a textbox...double clicking the button creates a handler in the view, but it's never called...what am I missing?
I am loading an external file 'contact_us.aspx' into a jquery dialog box. the external page contains a form.When the submit button is pressed it closes the dialog box and changes the page to contact_us.aspx. is my code correct or is there a different way of doing this. see my code below, thanks.
i have a view which asks the user to enter their post code in the text field provided. this form also has a submit button where it calls a jaquery function to display a jquery pop up window..inside my view i have a if statment which checks the value of the post code if it is m20 display thisBunchOfCode on popo up wind if else m14 display thatBunch
[Code]....and else display this error.i have tried the code below but it doesnt do anything...
I have an invoice form where user enters items and amount. I am calculating the amount as the user enters amount in the textfield. I receive an error (Input String was not in correct format) if user enters amount with comma separated values. If there are no commas, my calculation goes through fine.
Process[] processes = Process.GetProcessesByName("iexplore"); foreach (Process p in processes) { if (p.MainWindowTitle == url + " - Microsoft Internet Explorer") { // this doesn't find it. } }
i am using asp.net and following code to submit form on enter key press it is working but only refreshing same page and not calling button click event in server side code and without saving data it is comming back to same form, even without the jquery code again same thing happening don't know why but in some forms enter key press working fine and saving data without even following jquery code.
So as the title suggested, I'm currently trying to compare the hashed answer in my database against the answer typed in the textfield by the user in the form.
I thought of hashing the answer in the textfield typed by the user first, and after that compare this newly hashed answer to the one in the database (which is already hashed). But when I typed in the SAME answer (before hashing) and hashed it to get the hashed value, by right the 2 hashes (in web form and database) should match? Somehow, it didn't. And I can't seem to get security answer right anymore (even though I typed the SAME security answer).
This is the code behind the button:

I tried in another way too, but still the same thing.
Based on this article, I've written a custom class which implements the Watin.Core.interfaces.IFindByDefaultFactory, but I don't think I'm correctly assigning it to the watin settings, because it is never used.
Basically, Where/when should I assign to the Settings.FindByDefaultFactory? I've tried in my test Setup, and the text fixture's constructor, but neither seem to cause my custom class to be used. The tests still run and work, but I have to use the full asp.net ID's.
I'm using Watin 2.0.15.928 in VS2008 from nUnit 2.5.2.9222. I am running visual studio as administrator, and tests run sucessfully as long as I don't rely on my custom find logic.
Here's what the start of my text fixture looks like, where I set the FindByDefaultFactory namespace Fundsmith.Web.Main.BrowserTests { [TestFixture] class WatinHomepageTests { private IE _ie; [SetUp] public void Setup() { Settings.FindByDefaultFactory = new FindByAspIdFactory(); _ie = new IE("http://localhost/somepage.aspx"); } //etc etc...
And this is what my custom Find By Default factory looks like (simplified), unfortunately, it's never called.
using System.Text.RegularExpressions; using WatiN.Core; using WatiN.Core.Constraints; using WatiN.Core.Interfaces; namespace Fundsmith.Web.Main.BrowserTests { public class FindByAspIdFactory : IFindByDefaultFactory { public Constraint ByDefault(string value) { // This code is never called :( // My custom find by id code to cope with asp.net webforms ids... return Find.ById(value); } public Constraint ByDefault(Regex value) { return Find.ById(value); } } }
Edit: Extra information after the fact. Based on me fuguring this out, (see answer below), It turns out that the way I was consuming Watin to find the elements was wrong. I was explicitly calling Find.ById, rather than letting the default action occur. So I'd reassigned the default but was then failing to use it!
[Test] public void StepOneFromHomepageShouldRedirectToStepTwo() { _ie.TextField(Find.ById("textBoxId")).TypeText("100"); //Other test stuff... }
I have two submit buttons, 1 on a search control with its own ValidationSummary/Group and another in a Datalist Item.When I submit the search button and validation errors occur, I must hit the "add to cart" button on the DataList item that was generated from a previous successful search twice in order for the ItemCommand event to fire.I have different validation groups specified for the two submit buttons.
have developed a payment processing form where user fills the payment details and submit the button "Pay Now" what i want is to block the entire UI with the message "Processing Payment..." and with a slight delay right after payment processing stored procedure executes (in code behind) it should UNBLOCK the UI. Actually i was having multiple postbacks from user due to the slight delay ...I dont want to disable button. how to achieve this.
I am using Update Panel in my asp page and I am doing JQuery Validation on Asynchronous Postback...I just want to validate my form on only button clicks or submits..My problem is..all my buttons are in different formviews and won't load at a time...that's why I am unable to take the button id's and use the click events..here is my code..
Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_initializeRequest(ValidateMyForm); function ValidateMyForm(sender, args) { var objPost = args.get_postBackElement(); [code]..
All I want to do is: 2nd time validation on only button submit not for everything...I do get other postbacks on this page and those post backs also gets validated each time (I want to Avoid this)...
I have a website in ASP.NET (WebForms, NOT MVC) which has a survey form divided in several slides. Each slide has a next button that, obviously does a transition (client-side, not post back or remote request) to the next slide.In each slide I have several ASP.NET controls with their related validators. I want this validators to be triggered when I click the next button (or maybe when each input loses focus?).
I remembered ASP.NET doing client side validation on lost focus, but maybe I'm wrong... (I quit doing ASP.NET development about 3 years now, so I can't remember)UPDATE: It would be better to make ASP.NET trigger each validator when the associated control lost focus. I remember ASP.NET doing this (or am I dreaming? =P)
I have required validation controls on a page. If the user got to this page by mistake and wants to go to a different section of the website using the navigational buttons; required validators are triggered and it will not let the user navigate away. Ho do I get validators to trigger only when a submit button is clicked?
I have a web form called default.aspx which has a form with user information. In addition to this, I have an iFrame on the same page that displays a page Secondary-Form.aspx that has a few additional dynamic data fields. I need to do two things.
1. I need to pass the parent form data in real time to the iFrame page to refresh its content and modify it's fields accordingly. Example: If the user submits their Vehicle Choice as Car on parent form, the form item in iFrame will display a radio button that says Honda, and if the user submits their Vehicle Choice as MotorCycle in the parent page, the iFrame will display Harley Davidson as the radio button choice
2. The submit button is on the parent page. I want both pieces of this information (from the parent page, as well as iFrame selection) to be passed to a server side ASPX page to process this information.the default.aspx and Secondary-Form.aspx files are located on different domains.
How can I trigger a jQuery function with the Gridview Select button?
I want that the select button trigger the jquery function that has the row details (it's already working with a asp:buttonfield ), and select the row so i can get the values and send it trough e-mail with another button. I don't know if this is possible.
Can I trigger the jQuery function from code behind with the select button Sub? How?
i have post detail page (asp.net, umbraco cms), with search box and post replay box.the problem is that when user try to search using the search box, it cause validation error in the post replay box.the search is client side form.the post replay is server side form.you can view it live at:[URL]
I have two asp.net applications webapp1 and webapp2, in each application i have a asp.net form Deafult.aspx
I want to do a form submit from Default.aspx in webapp1 and recieve the value in webapp2.
I tried to do it with simply setting action ="webapp2 location" but it is throwing the bellow error
Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster.
I even added the machinekey element to web.config
but it is still showing the same error.
This is the code for webapp1 form which sends data to webapp2
I populate the items to the dropdownlist with values from a database. I use the .text and .value properties. It comes out right in the list. However when I try to make a button visible when selectedindexchange or selectedtextchange, nothing happens. Therefor I made the button always visible (because itīs the "add" button to the database depending on the selected item). When clicking Add I realize itīs the same value being sent to the database everytime, ie the first value of the list. So Iīm thinking the selected... events isnīt working. Do you know what Iīm doing wrong?
