Just looking for recommendations, we have a need to supply a chat-room for our customers. It will be small-mid scale usage, has anyone purchased any products recently that they recommend? Open to bundled, open-source, or SaaS implementations.
View 2 RepliesI've written a ASP.NET app that I hope to sell to businesses, I could host the trial but it's designed to connect to the customers data so customers will certainly want to install it to do a successful evaluation.
I've never produced anything commercial before so I'm looking for advice on how best to limit the trial, a 30 day trial seems most common, do you simply rely on the clock of the PC/Server they install it on? keep in mind this is ASP.NET app so will be installed on their web server.
I need to write a stored procedure to schedule a job that will send automatic email to customers based on some condition as follows:
1. I have two tables. One table is table1 like the following:
Name Date1 Date2 Date3 Rahim, Khan 29'10 30'11 25'08 Karim,Abedin 12'10 28'11 26'09 Fahad, Alam 26'10 12'11 25'10 Another Table is table 2 like the following:
Name Email Rahim,Khan rahim@yahoo.com Karim,Abedin karim@yahoo.com Fahad, Alam falam@yahoo.com In table 1 the date format is in format where 30'11 mean work week is 30 and 11 means last two digits of the year.
2. Now , I need to write a stored procedure that will check :
a) What is current work week and current year?
b) It will then determine the difference between the current work week (now 37) and work week mentioned in date (Date1, Date2 and Date3) columns from table1 and if for current year(it's 2010) at least one difference in each row is>=8 then it should send an automatic email to the corresponding email address of Name column using the relation between Table1 and table2. For example: For first record in Table1 the three difference is: 37-29=8, 37-30=7 and 37-25=12. There are two differences >=8, but only first difference is for year 2010 and third one is not for current year. But, since at least one difference in this row satisfies condition (That means >=8 for year 2010)hence email message should be sent to the address rahim@yahoo.com using relation of table1 and table2.
I know how to set a schedule job in SQL mail but I need this stored procedure to run this job on daily basis.
how best to allow a user to create their own URL? Say I have a domain like, www.mydomain.com, and I want the user to be able to create a custom ending to the URL like www.mydomain.com/companyname . Then when the URL is hit it will load the data for that company. Is this done via ASP.NET MVC routing? Any other ideas? I don't want to have to do any manual setup of site after user names it - like IIS changes or routing config file changes.
View 2 RepliesI am working on building a custom form builder module for our customers ... and wondering if you know any good .NET code base references for this module.
Requirements:
Customer should be able to add a form field(radio button, text box, dropdown menu) and customize the values real time.
ing to show customers and their order totals. There are a few joins involved since the order items quantity and price come from 2 different tables. Here is the query:
select DISTINCT
c.custnumber
ordertotal = convert(money, (SUM(c.quantity) * d.Price))
from custOrders c
left join purchaseorders p on p.cust_code = c.cust_code and p.purchno = c.ponumber
left join purchasedetail

In My application , i have different plans1)Free2)Personal(Monthly, Yearly)Now my problem is 1)Want to send email to all the customers in which plan is going to be expired in one week , on the day of expiration andafter expiration to re2)After expiration i have to set the record status to deactive
View 3 RepliesI have the following query, the relationship is mutiple pictures per dog and multiple dogs per registered User. the query below will return dogs that belong to users that have not expired. the problem is that some users have many dogs and other users only have one dog listed, the query below will return a record for every dog. What I would like to do is return a random dog per user and only one dog per user each time the query executes. therefore if I have 10 users and 50 dogs I would like my quesry to only return 10 dogs one beloinging to each user, and the next time the quesry executes it would be nice if it once again return 10 dogs but a different 10 dogs 1/per user where it was able..

The project, once done, will provide a "portal" into a limited portion of the client's database. All clients are using a SQL database, but various server software products are involved (MSSQL, MySQL, and others).
My question, however, has more to do with the "look and feel" of the finished product. We want to be able to integrate our 'portal' easily into the client's websites and have it look as seamless as possible. Obviously, placements of logos, etc. -- but also colors, fonts, etc.
Client sites tend to be simplistic in design. We envision the customer placing a link to our site from theirs, and our site will be running on IIS on their server. At least that's the plan.
The goal right now would be to make as much of this "parameter driven" as possible, so that a lot of the install can be accomplished through some simple settings, isolated in one or two files such that at installation time we can tweak those settings and be up-and-running in a short period of time with a site that integrates reasonably well with the customer's.
But I'm uncertain as to whether there is a better approach. Obviously, we could try to redesign our site with each install with the basic design of the customer's, but this would be cost-prohibitive in some situations. So, I'm thinking about a "second best" alternative that may be adequate in most circumstances.
I'm sending automatically emails when customers buy products on my ecommerce portal.
But, send pages by emails, at least in my server, using asp.net is too slow.
So, I want to send emails automattically, but using SERVER PROCESSING (Server Side). Did you get my point?
The customer won't see the sending process. But in background, directly on the server, the email is being sending.
I need to create the web-site updater for existing customers. In which I also need to update the database
View 1 RepliesI am currently developing a solution in which the user logs in once and can work on multiple customers at the same time on my site.I've looked at all possible solutions involving sessionid having stored the customerid, to launching a new browser session so i could have multiple sessions for one users etc. I also looked at using cookieless sessions. But the all fail because it's not a simple solution and in my opinion a simple solution is most of the time a good and predictable solution.
Therefore i came up with the idea to use url rewriting(i've seen this used in other applications). When the user opens a customer, i would like to start his url as follows "~/Customers/xxxxxxx/*.aspx" where xxxxxx represents the customerid. and *.aspx represents a complete subset of pages of my site. This would allow me to use a simple technique to use multiple user sessions within a single asp.net session.
Now coming to my problem, I have never done some url rewriting, therefore my questions:
- Is this possible.
- Can i protect all the pages that need a customerid as input(come to think of it, if no customerid in the querystring, redirect to a selection screen would be sufficient).
- How do i adopt all urls used in a sitemap etc in a structured way.
suppose we've created a web app for our customers.
how to prevent to access web page code (aspx code or behind code) for our customers ?
how to implement security and licensing information for web apps ?
i have a website which has 3 modules admin part, employee part and customer part . so when the admin login he has to see the number of customers logged in and the duration etc excluding employee and admin
View 4 RepliesI am a beginner in ASP.Net. I want to know what is CSS, Themes and Skin in ASP.Net? and How to create and use these things in ASP.Net? Please explain with simple example.
View 1 RepliesI am using the UrlRewriter.NET library to perform URL rewriting. I noticed that themes do not work properly as the browser tries to retrieve the CSS file incorrectly.
The link tag generated by ASP.NET automatically is as follows:
<link href="App_Themes/vertebrata/style.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" />
URL typed into browser: localhost:1708/BloggingEngine/aa Displays fine
URL typed into browser: localhost:1708/BloggingEngine/aa/ Browser does not load the CSS file
I can probably fix the problem by prefixing a "/" before the URL in the href attribute, but this is dynamically generated by ASP.net depending on selected theme and I have no control over it.
How do I get ASP.net to load themes properly?
I have a portfolio website I am building for fun, I am graduating about this time next year. I have added ASP.NET themes to this portfolio website, and I have added themes to other ASP.NET sites before. I really love the feature! I have been noticing though that other sites (not asp.net that I've seen) change "Themes" without the page refreshing and I understand its probably just changing which CSS the site is using. Is there a way to do something like this in ASP.NET 4.0?
I am just setting the default theme in the web.config, and then setting a session variable through a couple asp:ImageButton's, then in the Page_PagePrePreInit setting the page.theme to the session variable. This is my first time taking that route, I usually use "profiles" to save the theme info.
I am working on asp.net website and i want to implement themes on my site. If i select any theme then it will change whole UI not only colors. After Change it will show a new User interface. Like change in div size, width and location same for controls and same all html tag that is used in page.
I got lot of example of themes where it it changing only UI color.
Change themes in asp.net 2.0
View 3 RepliesI think i understand the benefit of using themes but I want to be sure I understand correctly. I have previously used css to style my pages. I'm thinking about using themes in my next project. It provides a way to switch between the visual style of web controls and html elements. This could be done by allowing the user to choose a theme that is to their liking.
View 9 RepliesCan ASP.NET themes be used per user session ? Ex : For one user,User theme called "Green" and for another user Use the theme called "Red". Or themes are for the enire web app ?
View 1 RepliesSince Themes in ASP.NET are used to style elements of your site, I was just wondering why would you use Themes rather than CSS, or is it common practice to use both? If so, when would you opt for one versus the other and why?
Just seems to me like Themes are kind of unnecessary, so I am just looking on clarification if there really is a good reason to use them, or it's just a part of the framework as an alternative(unnecessary) step to styling your site.
I'm using the Google CDN to load my JQuery file. However, I'd like to have my master page use a separate theme to my content page. Is this possible when using the CDN? I'm using ASP.NET.
