I am creating a sql server database table and when i save the table and give the name to a table "i.e. USER" and then see in the property of that table then the name changes to "[USER]". I have tried lot of time but every time it gets.Plz help mei am also attaching the screen shot of this.
View 4 RepliesI have done my searching and haven't found anything related to my issue. I have an aspx page that contains a regular drop down control. When the selectedIndex is changed, it fires off a post back and also rebinds a datalist based on its value. Inside the datalist I have an ascx control which has a gridview and an object datasource:

My problem is that after my drop down posts back, when the process gets to DataList1.databind (in the selected index changed) i get a "The ObjectDataSource control 'ObjectDataSource1b' does not have a naming container. Ensure that the control is added to the page before calling DataBind." error.
During the post back, the pageload on my control runs and all my properties seem to have its values.
I am using Entity framework to model my database (model first) however the table generator is creating tables with plural names. I have looked into the ssdltosql10.tt file. It is generating the table names from Entity set. Any way this can be changed to get the table names from "Entity Name" instead of the "Entity Set Name" so I end up with singular table names.P.S. BTW in Northwind Database the tables are pluralized however in adventure works database the tables are singular. I prefer singular.

I had created the database called train. A train database has a two tables

The first time I visit the site and attempt a database connection I get this error:
Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'.
But when I refresh, it all works fine. I'm at a bit of a loss. I don't believe I'm attempting to create a database, but I realise that the error may not really have anything to do with that. This is hosted at GoDaddy shared hosting. The database was created and I used an SQL script to create the tables initially and populate the data. My connection string works as I can pull data from the database, but I do have
a feeling it will be a web.config setting that will correct this.

View 2 RepliesI have created normalised data tables to hold look up information (such as venues, players, teams etc) and want to dynamically update the 'matches' data table (my transactions) using webpages instead of running SQL queries.
What I want to do is select a name from a drop down list and then post the relevant ID associated with that name to my 'matches' table. At the moment I can only link to the value in the drop down list, i.e. the name which is incompatible with the validation which expects a primary key integer.
I'm sure this problem is a fairly common one but I haven't found the right answer on any of the tutorials or blogs, all of them assume that the data is de-normalised or describe things in more technical ways than I can yet understand. If anyone can point me to a 'how to article' or tell me what I am doing wrong, I would be grateful.

I am a bit confused about the error message though because the "tbUsers" table does exist inside of my MDF database that I created it via FTP. Is something wrong with my connection string possibly?

is there any way to search the table name containing a specific data in a given database.
for example, if i have any data, say "Euro" in hand, and i know any of the table in database contain the given value, however i'm not sure which table. So if i can list out the table anyhow containing the data in hand.
I've just taken over looking after a website and well to be honest the way it's been put together is not the best, but I have to make do as the client does not have the money to make major changes.Anyway currently there is data stored in a MsSQL database and some in an XML file. The xml file does have a ContentID attribute which matches the ContentID in a table.Not really done much with XML as I tend to use a database and LINQ.What would be the best way to tie these two together so I could output the results in a gridview for example.
