I have a form that I put on the Web User Control, but "Submit" button is on the parent page. The form contains user information. That same form displays for admins to edit a user and for the user to register and update profile.I wanted to have the form in only 1 place to display in those 3 places. The admin page will have a little more information on it, along with the "user info" control.how can i reference items on the control page from the parent page?
I am working on a project in ASP.NET MVC using C# 3.0.I am using the Dundas Chart Control for OLAP. As the Dundas control does not directly support MVC it is used on a standard ASP.NET page with a codebehind file. This page is displayed in an iFrame of a normal View returned from a Controller Action.I have a button in the iFrame which submits a form via Ajax (using jQuery) to a method on the controller. I have also written an extension method for the OlapChart which returns the XML of the current report. What I am looking for is a way of getting the XML produced by the extension method to the Controller Action which handles the Ajax submit.I have only developed using ASP.NET MVC so I may be missing something obvious with Code Behind and ASP.NET controls.
I have webpage containing 3 views of multiview control. In the first view there are 3 fields Name Age Surname which will be captured in the textbox for the respective fields. In the second view i have three more fields
sex maritalstatus bloodgroup
which will be entered in the respective textboxes and a submit button to store the data in both the views in the sql server database. I have all the fields in the sql server table which are mentioned in the webpage.I need the complete code for storing the entered data in both the views of the multiview control after hitting the submit button.
I would like to hide a submit button if a DataList is empty. I don't really know the code. If you submit an answer please show me the code also. I have to do it in VB.Net. I googled and found the following code that I place in the code behind under the Page load event.
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Dim dv As DataList dv = SqlDataSource3.[Select](DataSourceSelectArguments.Empty)
I don't think I understand fully how ASP.NET does inheritance of controls.I have a user control, ucBase, which has an asp.net label in the ascx file. Code behind references the label and it works fine during run time if the control is not a parent for another user parent.
If I have another user control, ucChild, inheriting from ucBase, the label in ucBase's code is always null. ucChild has no controls in its ascx fileThe server controls (like the label) needs to be declared in the ascx file and not created programmatically. What needs to be done for ucBase to see its own controls when it's a parent user control?
i have this form, that the data is stored in a SQL db using Linq.
my question is, how can i add a column, that will have all the information about the sender, meaning IP address, browser, referrer etc.
the thing is is i want to store it in one field. i come from a php knowledge that has been long forgotten by me, but i still remember there was some serialize command, that you could run on an array and store it in a db, then when you want it back to an array you would just run deserialize command and it would go back to an array.
I have a web application where users are permitted to submit their resumes. When the form is submitted, the data is inserted into a new record in an SQL table. One of the fields in the form allows them to copy and paste their entire resume text into a TextBox control, which is inside the InsertItemTemplate of a FormView. This particular control is bound to a column in the SQL table that's of datatype nvarchar(MAX). It works, but there are no line breaks and when viewed the resume is just one long continuous block of text. How can I change this so that line breaks are preserved? Do I need to use something like a "cute editor" control? And finally, how do I protect against malicious code? The insert query is parameterized, and the FormView refers to an insert method in a TableAdapter in my dataset.
How to add code to redirect my user on successful submit to my database.
Code...
Imports System.Data Imports System.Data.SqlClient Partial Class CPD_OnlineSurvey Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Public Sub UpdateOnlineSurvey(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Using conn As New SqlConnection() conn.ConnectionString = ConfigurationManager _ .ConnectionStrings("wincts").ConnectionString Using cmd As New SqlCommand() cmd.CommandText = "update OnlineSurvey set IsSelected = " & _ "@IsSelected where QuestionId=@QuestionId" cmd.Connection = conn conn.Open() For Each item As ListItem In ChkOnlineSurvey.Items cmd.Parameters.Clear() cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@IsSelected", item.Selected) cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@QuestionId", item.Value) cmd.ExecuteNonQuery() Next conn.Close() End Using End Using End Sub End Class

Is there any reliable way to check if user has entered Arabic words into a form and tries to submit it? Can Javascript handle this? Or, only server script like .NET can do this?
I'm thinking that if possible the script should directly prevent the user from inputting Arabic words into the form and show an alert pop up.
I've got a little problem with trimming my textboxes. I know how to loop throw all textboxes but i dont know how i get the text trimmed when user klick on submit-button,cause i dont know how to get the name of the respective textbox.
I have a website the main page holder is placed within an iframe - everytime I navigate to a page from the menu a new page id is set within the frame. I have a left hand panel seperate to thee i frame which is a usercontrol and is static. I'm trying to capture the main iframe pageid from within the usercontrol. When I navigate to to a new page - the iframe is updated but the usercontrol is not, and im struggling to think of how I can grab frame id from within the usercontrol.
I've tried setting trhe page id as a session variable but this isnt accurrate enough. I need to grab it as as soon as a new page is hit.
I have a web page, with three buttons which allow a user to cancel, save & exit, or save & continue. to assign the Save & Continue button the ability to accept the Enter key as being equal to it being clicked? Thought this might make it faster for data entry, so they can keep hands on keyboard, and just hit enter, instead of having to use mouse to click save & continue.
I need to write some software that when you turn on a new pc it will popup asking the user to submit registration details - what application would you recommend to do this, I was thinking a win forms app that then saves the data as an xml file and then sends the file via a webservice to a server once an internet connection has been established.

I would like to use the gridview paging feature and have built a gridview with a user control. The data source has lots of columns, so to make it easier I want to return a LIST<MyObject> and just pass <Myobject> into the user control rather than all the data elements. Not sure how I access the object of the data source to bind to the control. Assume it would be during ondatarowbound.
Also, my guess is there is a better way to do this than gridview. I'd take either solution that allows me to have easy paging and pass the complete object into the user control
I've got a web site that has a master page and that master page (mpMaster that has a user control ucControl1) which has a sub user control (ucControl2), this user control has a property which accepts a value. Now, I have a page that uses the master page and on this page I have another user control (ucPageControl), I need to find a way of setting the value in ucControl2 from ucPageControl. Is this possible at all?
I'm trying to get this to work. My current problem is what to do if the user wants to give the same rating that already exists. For example, an item has a rating of five, and the user wants to give it another 5 rating.
Possible to use a link control to validate and submit a form? What would be the code to tie the click event of the link control to the submission functions? (I prefer link buttons much more than input buttons for styling across browsers.)
