I have a few tables, Listings, ListingImages and a few others related to Listings. ListingImages is related to Listings so that you can have many ListingImages per Listing.
When I query this table I do;
[code].....
Now this is fine. However, I now want to sort the ListingImages independently within each Listing (by an ImageOrder column I have in that table).
How can I do this and pass all my Includes(...). Would it be bad form to sort the ListingImages within the View as this solution seems to work?
I am using Reporting Services to render a report directly to PDF. It requires that I use two web references: ReportExecution2005.asmx and ReportService2005.asmx. The performance on web references seems really poor. Since my web server (IIS7) and my SQL Server (2008) are on the same box, is there a way I can reference them directly? If not is there any way I can explicitly cache them or something. First load is really really slow, second load is perfectly acceptable.
View 2 RepliesI want to use Context.Items to store some info of a User Control like:
Context.Items["Data"] = 5;
I want to know, Is Context.Items is for each request or it is global for the application?
I'm trying to include script and style references that will not break on deployment, however I can not even get the references to work locally. I have tried using Url.Content() and MVCContrib's <%=Html.ScriptInclude("")%>.
My scripts are in a Scripts folder on the root of the site; my styles are in the usual Content/css/ folder.
The scripts render like this:
<script type="text/javascript" src="/Scripts/MicrosoftAjax.debug.js" ></script>
This will not work in a view page in the Views folder. What am I doing wrong and what is the best way to handle this?
I would have thought Url.Content() would at least work for styles but used in my master page, the link rendered
<link href="/Content/css/Site.css rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
This does not work, because the Master Page is in a Shared folder, so what is really the way forward with this?

I have written simple HttpModule. context.Response.Output.Write is working fine. but not context.Response.Write().
View 2 RepliesI want to show the user defined Data table created at runtime in code behind C# and i want the load the datatable values in the crystal report ....
View 1 RepliesI'm encountering a strange problem. Here is the scenario. I have built a query that accepts a parameter (WHERE LIKE clause).
I've tested this within the query builder and it returns exactly the number I would expect.
I then go back to my webpage and add the following controls:
Dropdown
Gridview
the user to make a selection from the dropdown. Postback on the dropdown is enabled so the page reloads and the Gridview displays the filtered results (via an objectdatasource). I've set the parameter to the dropdown control.
The trouble is when I run the page I make the selection in the dropdown no results are displayed. Even though the text displayed in the dropdown control is exactly the same as I inputted into the query builder when testing it.
Here is the code of my Repository class:You see, I use singleton here. Also you see, there is a data context as class variable of Repository class.The main reason to use singleton here is a wish to avoid using 'using(NorthwindEntities context = new NorthwindEntities())' in every function.
[Code]....
This Repository is used in ASP.NET application. So only instance of NorthwindEntities (context) is used everywhere and that's why I never dispose it.So my question is: Won't this code cause connections to the DB that are not closed?
I have a database that tells me what contract is in effect on specific streets but between mile marker values.
For example, Main Street is 10 miles long. Contract ABC123 applies to miles 0 - 4.9, and contract 999555 applies to miles 5-10.
My user will enter the street name and mile value into textboxes, and the results will be displayed in a gridview.
Getting the Street name portion of the query is working fine, it is this mile value that is confusing me.
In my table I have StreetName for the name of the street, and for the mile range of the street the table has BegMile (beginning value) and EndMile (ending value).
How do I get the correct answer back when my user is entering a value between BegMile and EndMile?
I have a member class that returned IQueryable from a data context
public static IQueryable<TB_Country> GetCountriesQ()
{
IQueryable<TB_Country> country;
Bn_Master_DataDataContext db = new Bn_Master_DataDataContext();
country = db.TB_Countries
.OrderBy(o => o.CountryName);
return country;
}
As you can see I don't delete the data context after usage. Because if I delete it, the code that call this method cannot use the IQueryable (perhaps because of deferred execution?). How to force immediate execution to this method? So I can dispose the data context..
I am creating a core library for one of our internal project. This core library supposed to contain some abstract classes and generic classes which will then be extended by specialized projects. For example, There is an AbstractPerson class with standard properties and methods for a Person class while another project will implement a Person class which will inherit from the AbstractPerson class to add project specific functionality.
Now we need to impelment DAL for this common and specialized projects.As most of operations are generic so i want to include them into core library as Repository classes. However, Repository classes need to access LINQ dataContext. Which is generated from the specialized databases. Hence there is no dataContext available in Core library to work. So how could i can create a common repository classes for generic methods which can reside in the common library.
am having a class which contains user defined data type property. I have created an instance of that class. When I bind that object of that class to DetailsView it is showing all properties except user defined data type property. Here is the sample code.
public class Customer
public string CustomerName { get; set; }
public int Age { get; set; }
public Address CustomerAddress { get; set; }
}
Address class looks like
public class Address
{

I receive the error (Both DataSource and DataSourceID are defined on 'DataList1'. Remove one definition) in the following code. Could anyone help me sort this out. I do not have anything named DatasourceID that I can find.

I set the Databinding of a repeater to a list of classes i.e. List<Message>, I have used the ItemCommand event before to pull out individual ID's etc based on the CommandArgument, however is it possible to make the class itself the CommandArgument instead of one of its properties, this way I have them all at my disposal.For example say I have a list of messages and within the repeater I have this:
[Code]....
However I want to pass the Message class as the argument instead, can this be done?

For some reason my DataContext is not showing all the normal methods like SubmitChanges() etc in the intellisense.It also won't compile if I type in db.SubmitChanges();Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Normally I don't have this issue, I have several other projects that work fine...

I have a dropdownlist as defined on a page in the following way:
<asp:DetailsView ID="DetailsView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateRows="False"
Let's say a control X has a template called RowTemplate.
So X's markup would be like:
<foo:X>
<RowTemplate>
<foo:Y>...</foo:Y>
</RowTemplate>
</foo:X>
My question is: How can the Y control be sensitive to the data context? I know I can use template inline tags to get access to the data context: <%# Eval("Id") %>, but I cannot pass this information to Y because template inline tags are not allowed in server controls.
So I don't know how I could use the Object's Id (Eval("Id")) in Y.
