Given an instance of a control SomeControl that is in a some file (could be a usercontrol/ascx, or an aspx) how can I get a reference to the class to which it belongs?
In a usercontrol, SomeControl.NamingContainer seems to be reliable.
In a page that inherits from a MasterPage, this will return a reference to the ContentPlaceHolder, not the actual class that defines the aspx. What I would want in that case is SomeControl.Page
Parent will return the parent control in the heirarchy so isn't much use.
Is there any method for getting this directly regardless of what kind of thing it is?
In an ASP.NET web app written in VB.NET, I need to load and store a large read-only hash table that is frequently accessed by the application. It only needs to be loaded once on application start, is never updated and can be accessed by any session at any time.
If I load the hash table into a private member in a (global) module, a lookup to it takes one 20th of the time compared to storing the hash table in the Application or Cache object. Is there any reason why I should not do this, or should Application or Cache always be used to store in-memory objects in an ASP.NET web application?
I have two member roles at my project:
1.) Administrator
2.) Member
From the toolbox in Visual Studio 2008, I have dragged and dropped the create user wizard into the stage. I aim that a guest can register itself and automatically join the "member" role. Not the role "administrator". How can I do that?
I have following model class:
public class WebModel
{
public List<ArticleModel> Articles { get; set; }
}
public class ArticleModel
{
public int ID { get; set; }
public double ValueParam { get; set; }
}
Then I have the controller with the two actions:
[Authorize]
public ActionResult Index()
{
WebModel model = new WebModel();
ModelConverter.ConvertToModel(model, controller);
return View(model);
}
[Authorize]
[HttpPost]
[ValidateInput(false)]
public ActionResult Index(WebModel model, string saveButton)
{
ModelValidation.ValidateWebModel(model, ModelState);
if (ModelState.IsValid)
{
return RedirectToAction("Create", "Article");
}
ModelConverter.ConvertToModel(model, controller);
return View(model);
}
And this is my view:
<%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<Web.Models.WebModel>" %>
<asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server">
<%var controller = Session["controller"] as Web.Code.SessionController; %>
<%Html.BeginForm(); %>
<div>
<table width="100%">
<%foreach (var article in Model.Articles)
{%>
<tr style="text-align: right">
<td>
<%:Html.DropDownListFor(m=>m.Articles.FirstOrDefault(f=>f.ID == article.ID).ID, new SelectList(controller.CurrentProdukt.Articles.AsEnumerable(), "ID", "Name", article.ID)) %>
</td>
<td>
<%:Html.TextBoxFor(m => m.Articles.FirstOrDefault(f => f.ID == article.ID).ValueParam)%>
</td>
</tr>
<%} %>
</table>
</div>
<table style="width: 100%">
<tr>
<td>
<input type="submit" name="saveButton" value="Save" />
</td>
</tr>
</table>
<%Html.EndForm(); %>
</asp:Content>
If I press the submit button, I get to the second action method in the controller (the one with the HttpPost attribute). In this action, the object model itself is not null, but the "Articles" list inside is null.
What is wrong with the attached code to return the error "CS0246: The type or namespace name 'oledbconnection' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)"

How to set defautl value in OleDbCommand Parameters?

I am working on converting a project from C# to VB and am facing this weird issue. 1 page cannot compile and I get the reference error, but the weird thing is that the compiler shows the error as coming from ASP.NET generated code. Visual Studio shows me that error is coming from my ASPX page. I cannot seem to figure out why or where this error is occuring. Also if I take the inherits attribute out I don't get the compilation error. The code in aspx page is below:

I am using VS2005, and a newbie at table adapters, DAL & BLL. I have a single dataset (in DAL) and 2 classes (in BLL) named Class1.vb and Class2.vb.
When I try to call a function from Class1 within Class2 I get the error "Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference".
Here is a sketch of my code structure:

I do not receive this error when I open my website application in vs 2005. When I open in vs 2008, I get this error. What gives?

i am trying to export a table from access database to excel sheet but i am facing error saying Type 'System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand' is not defined.

Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim AccessConn As New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:Documents and SettingsUSERDesktopD0605data.accdb")
AccessConn.Open()
'New sheet in Workbook
Dim AccessCommand As New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand("SELECT * INTO [Excel 8.0;DATABASE=C:Documents and SettingsUSERDesktopD0605data1.xlsx;HDR=NO;].[Sheet1] from [Table1]", AccessConn)

I have a json object collection of geo locations that I build in the server. Each of those objects has two properties: "marker" and "onClick". Marker is for storing a Google Maps marker object and the onClick stores the name of the function to be called when that marker is clicked on the map.When I'm pushing the location objects into an array using javascript in the client side, I create the markers and assign them to each location object within the array.
My problem is that when I bind the marker with the onClick property, the function won't be found in the DOM and get an error.Is there a way to declare a property in a json object for using it on an event binding?
I have a grid view control on my aspx page.
i have an input button in Template filed , i m calling one java script function.
I want to send Gridview row object so that i can come to know which it has been clicked.
want to play with grid view row in java script function.
I have the following Silverlight control defined:
[Code]....
I have exposed the following method in my Silverlight control (Page.xaml.cs) to be accessible to Javascript:
[ScriptableMember]
public bool HasPendingUpdates()
{
return btnSave.IsEnabled;
}
I then have a Javascript test function in my aspx page that is trying to do something with it:
var imageViewer = $("#objImageViewer")[0];
if (imageViewer.Content.Page.HasPendingUpdates())
{
alert("Pending Changes Exist!");
}
else
{
alert("NO Pending Changes Exist!");
}
Problem is that it fails after the Content object. I have tested the following:
var imageViewer = $("#objImageViewer")[0];
imageViewer // Valid
imageViewer.Content // Valid
imageViewer.Content.Page // Invalid
imageViewer.Content.HasPendingUpdates() // Invalid
So I am not sure what I am doing wrong. How do I get to the function within Content?
I am using IE8, Silverlight 3, ASP.NET. The silverlight control is created with the object tag as I don't think the control is an option in Silverlight 3+.
I need to make a call to a function object from a click event:
[Code]....
I'm trying to create a JSON object on client-side and pass to a server-side function. Then instantiate it on server-side using JSON string representation.
So I create jSON object on client-side
var myJsonObject = {
"arg1": var1,
"arg2": var2
}
and pass it in to
WebForm_DoCallback(controlID, myJsonObject , null, null, null, true);
When I try to retrieve this JSON object on server-size I get as a string representation of JSON [object Object]
So in following server-side function, the argument value is [object Object]
public void RaiseCallbackEvent(string jsonObj)
I was expecting a string representation of JSON object. How do I pass in a string representation?
I'm trying to create a member section for my website and a non member section. I want the nonmember pages to have access to all the member pages but just not certain features like saving to the database. Is there a way to have the same page for both members and non members but have certain controls like buttons and other things that are only usable to the member that is logged in?
View 5 RepliesI'm working on this big project in MVC ASP.NET w VB.NETOne of my views is getting me headaches since a few and i'm not sure what's up.I've used the Begin.Form and Html.Encode methods alot in my other views and i never had any problems. Now this new Create.aspx view for one of my object called Automation is giving me multiple build errors such as those cited in the title plus
Error 184 'Context' is not a member of
'ASP.views_automatisation_create_aspx'.
BeginForm is not a member of 'Html'
Encode is not a member of HTML
My header is as follow (just like all of my other working views headers) :
\
<%@ Page Title="" Language="VB" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage(Of XXXXX_XXXXX.Automatisation)" %>
I am working on ASP.NET 3.5, c#, visual studio 2010. I have made a master file and a default page that uses this master file. I have placed a couple asp:contentplaceholders in the master and corresponding code in the page that uses this master. I have also inserted JavaScript like this in the content page (and not the master):
<asp:Content ID="Content6" ContentPlaceHolderID="Mainpage" Runat="Server">
<script src="path1" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="path2" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function () {
var options = {
//some java code
};
$(".mycssclass").effect(options);
});
</script>
</asp:Content>
On running the website I get the following runtime error in visual studio: Microsoft JScript runtime error: 'this.node' is null or not an object and it point to some function inside the JavaScript like this.node.onload=function(){..............//I am not a java guy so do not know much about this Where am I going wrong? Why does the site compile correctly but throw this runtime error? I also tried inserting this java code inside the master file in the <head>, but same error.
I am calling a WebMethod from this code:
if($(this).attr("checked")) {
..
MyWebMethod(variable1, variable2, onSuccessFunction);
}
The MyWebMethod returns an integer, and I want to set $(this).attr("id") of the jQuery object above to the returned integer. Basically, I'm trying to do the equivalent of an MVC Ajax.ActionLink...AjaxOptions {UpdateTargetID =...} However, I can't figure out how to get both a reference to $(this) as well as the returned value. For example, if I do:
MyWebMethod(variable1, variable2, onSuccessFunction($(this)));
I can succesfully manipulate the jQuery object, but obviously it doesn't have the return value from the MyWebMethod. Alternatively, the first code block with a method signature of onSuccessFunction(returnValue) has the correct return value from MyWebMethod, but no concept of the jQuery object I'm looking for. Am I going about this all wrong?
How would I pass an Object or Array to a function using the ICallBackEventHandler (RaisCallbackEvent)? It allows for a string argument only, if you change it to another datatype it error out. Sample Below...

I am using one DLL file of Active Socket Object 3.5 and it has one function writeAsUnicode which take String as parameter. But I need to pass binary value. In ASP, it can be done but in asp.net it becomes problem. So is there any other way to solve it.
