the edit with an underscore does actually trigger the modalpopup but I also need to trigger a select statement that fills the textboxes with the existing text.how do I do that? in webforms I fired a sub that just filled the textboxes. will I need to redraw the view?
I'm doing an ajax work where web service will return data and on client side and I am creating html table with data.I am using var (to hold string of generated html code), do string concatenations to generate table, tr and td tags and put data in it. Then I put this html table with data into a div using innerHTML. I am applying inline css in this dynamic html code.
The issue I am facing is the web service will return a huge amount of data. What I tested is even on local machine it took about 10-12 minutes to process (concatenating, creating tags putting data in table, applying css) 10000 rows. Stored procedure just take 3-4 seconds in returning data. how this in-browser processing time can be reduced ? I am doing it for speed in some wrong way ? Or is there some technique for it or some method faster than innerHTML and string concatenations ?
I have a webform which users fill in and all fields are submitted to table. How do I check that the record doesn't already exist in the table before the data is submitted? And if the data does exist I'd like to display error message label.
I have a page which consists of a grid and add new button. When the user clicks add new button he gets several fields to be entered. So, when he clicks submit I usually write a query which checks if there is an entry already in the database. In this case, I succeeded. However, my task is to also show the records identical and let the user decide to proceed or not.SO, I am not sure of how to proceed with this one. So, can anyone just help me in giving an idea on how to proceed with this one?

I am using Form View to Insert Data using ObjectDataSource Visual Studio2010.
It is running fine, taking values inserting and then showing in grid view using SqlDataSource.. also editing in detailsview using SqlDataSource.
1. My Column EmployeeID is of String nature.now i dont want the user to input Employeeid, i want E-123 type value. and i want to get the max id from table and +1 before inserting new record. what are the step to do it.
2. I want to display status column as check box in detailsview. it is again string type and taking values T or F. how to do it?
3. Status Checkbox need to be displayed in Grid View also.

I need to write a sql script which will scan for records in a table (Table1) and thencopy the records found into a second table (Table2). Table2 has the same table structureas Table1Table 1 has a primary Key for the first column named CustIdI thought this would involve A simple sql statement like:

However I just realized that if A record already exists in Table2 and I try to inserta duplicate record into Table2, how should this be handled?Should I instead use an Update statement without a where clause?
We are trying to design selection tool for a hierarchical dimension (e.g. org-dept-subdept) in order to query SSAS cube. When user clicks a drop down list, a tree view will pop out for user to select single or multi tree nodes. Ideally it would be like the drop down box used in Excel pivot table when it is connecting to a SSAS cube. If there is any Ajax control that can perform similar function
Is there a way that if certain items are selected in a DropDownList to fire up a ModalPopupBox. Basically if any value except for one value is selected, I want a popup warning them, are you sure?
I have the Popup Frame, I have the Popup Extender. I just don't know how to wire the two together using the TargetControlID. I don't want the popup to just automatically come up when the dropdownlist is selected but only if its not value "X".
I figured instead of doing this in parallel, I could check it after the fact when the form is posted using the extender.show() command but my program is crashing because the targetcontrolid for my modalpopupextender is null. I don't have a targetcontrolID in that case?
I have the folllowing DDL on a 2 tabbed Ajax tabbed container. The DDL is on the 2nd tab, the problem I am finding is that; when a user selects a value from the DDL the focus is jumpint to the 1st tab and not remaining in position as requested.

I wonder how is it possible to manage transaction in c# code.. I have to do multiple insertion of same object with unique storedprocedure. So I have to launch the same stored procedure with same parameters multiple times.
But if a problem appear in the process (lost connection,...) I don't want just a part of insertions done and the rest failed, I want all the insertion cancelled. So I would like a SQLtransaction but within the application code because a can't change database.
is there a way to cancel the current selection for a cascadingdropdown list ? For example, user changes selection, I present user with option to cancel selection and if he chooses to cancel, then the old value should be reverted.
I have requirement as such when user click on a Gridview row then i'll have to pick up the selected values [of row ] highlighting the gridview row into a form beneath the Gridview, later on the form user might or not update the details picked from the gridview . The form even contains a button on it , when the button is clicked i'll have save the changes [ if any made back to the datasource ] and got to progress to the next row automatically and perform the same updations .
I'm trying to put a updateprogress into a webpage where selection from the dropdownlist causes postback. Works out well except that on the first postback, the gif image shows on the leftside rather than on the center. On succeeding postback, it will show on the centre where I intend it to be.
