Web Forms :: Interaction With LinkButtons Added At Runtime
Jan 9, 2010
I am working on a web application project in which i add a dynamic number of LinkButtons at runtime according to user selection, each link should redirect the user to a specific web page ,but what actually happened is that the last hyperlink is the only one responded! the following code show the declaration :
''''''''Public WithEvents ItemName As LinkButton
''Public Sub AddLinkButtons
''''''''For i = FirstIndex To StopFlag
''''''''ItemName = New LinkButton
''''''''ItemName.Text = Dt.Rows(i).Item(1)
''''''''Me.ContentTD.Controls.Add(ItemName)
''''''''Next
''End Sub
''''''''Private Sub ItemName_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ItemName.Click
''''''''SelectedItemToFind.ItemFlag = 1
''''''''SelectedItemToFind.SelectedItem = sender.Text
''''''''Response.Redirect("Default.aspx?Main=SearchResult")
''''''''End Sub
I have controls which are added at run-time to a PlaceHolder control on the page which is inside an UpdatePanel. The first refresh of the UpdatePanel is fine but subsequent actions create copies of everything on the page. I get two sets of the run-time added controls on the same page. It's not smart enough to realize that the second set replaces the first set. Has anyone else seen this? Runtime added linkbuttons into UpdatePanel ;fullpostbacks instead of asyncpostback.All parameters of UpdatePanel are default. adding controls runtime like this:
I've been struggling with this for several hours now so I thought I'd give this forum a try. The problem is that I'm adding two kind of buttons (editBtn and delBtn) which show up fine but they won't fire their respective method when clicked. I also have a third button which works just fine.
im showing 3 rows and 2 columns in a Gridview...I want to generate a 3rd column at runtime in a Gridview ....
only 1 LinkButton in Gridview at position row1 and column 3 only 2 LinkButton in Gridview at position row2 and column 3 only 3 LinkButton in Gridview at position row3 and column 3
I have a Web Form that uses Master Pages. I only tell you this part so you understand the layers.
On the page, I have a web user control. I can see public methods on that user control by simply calling userControlName.PublicMethod();
However, there is a button on this page which generates additional content. This content is based on a placeholder control and adding additional web user controls :
[Code]....
Now, on the main form, I want a submit button that will call a public method of each "subForm" that was added at runtime.
I have tried various forms of Control C = This.Page.Master.FindControl("cpBody").Findcontrol("ctl01")... etc, but can never seen to get the right combination.
The Scenario: I have an asp.net website where I show a div popup on page load for taking a few user details. When a user inputs the details, or closes the popup, I set up a flag cookie so that the popup is not displayed again for the user. The div is in the MasterPage so that it is displayed no matter on which page a user lands first time. The div contains an UpdatePanel which has all the controls required for taking the details. This whole functionality is working fine.
The Problem: Now this div popup is not showing(by setting display:none) on subsequent postbacks(which I want), but the html markup is still loading with the page unnecessarily adding to the page size. What I would idealy want to do is: Check if flag cookie is set. If no, show the popup, else remove the popup's markup from the page. Now since the div is not a server control, I cannot possibly remove it and the all the controls inside it. So, I thought of removing the UpdatePanel from the page:
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (Request.Cookies["flag"] != null) { if (Page.Controls.Contains(updpnl_contact)) { Page.Controls.Remove(updpnl_contact); updpnl_contact.Dispose(); } } }
But I guess this tends to work with dynamically added controls only, and since the control is added at Design Time, it is not being removed. Is there any way I can achieve this?
I've inherited some code that is having a serious problem. On one page, there are several pairs of "Yes"/"No" checkboxes that act like pairs of radio buttons through the use of the ACT MutuallyExclusiveCheckBoxExtender control. They work as expected. However, when I navigate away from the page, I get a "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.InvalidOperationException: Handler was not added through the Sys.UI.DomEvent.addHandler method." error in the dynamically-generated ScriptResource.ax...c2d9970 [dynamic] file.
The specific method in the dynamically-generated code is: var $removeHandler = Sys.UI.DomEvent.removeHandler = function Sys$UI$DomEvent$removeHandler(element, eventName, handler)
The element is set to any of the checkbox controls (I've removed them one-by-one and it happens to ALLof them) and the eventName is "Click". I gather from the code that it's trying to do a removeHandler before the addHandler for the particular element has taken place. True, I don't have any explicit addHandler lines in my code, but I don't any explicit removeHandler lines either. About all I've got in the aspx code is: [Code] ....
The formatting of the code in this message is a bit weird, but it's basically a simple table with three columns. On each row, there's text in the first column, the checkboxes in the second column and a button in the third. I've searched high and low on the web and nearly every thread I read about his error talks about it in relationship to the use of command buttons in an ACT UpdatePanel.

I want to understand the interaction of telephone with webforms application.
In order to do that I want to create a small application which will be able to receive multiple calls at a time, place them in a queue and then forward calls one by one to a call answerer.
It should also be able to retrieve the Caller Id i.e number from which the call is being made.
How this may be achieved?
If there is any ready made solution available with source code pls provide links.
I have 2 nested master pages, lets call them MP1 and MP2. MP1 is top level, MP2 is level
2. Then I have several content pages. Lets say I have 2 content pages for now CP1 and CP2. Each content page has a form that will have some user input and a SaveData()function that saves the data to a database. Each content page also has a "Save" button that calls the SaveData() function.
MP1 and MP2 have several link buttons. The functionality I need is this: Any time a user clicks on a link button in MP1 or MP2, the SaveData() function of the currently loaded page should be called. This is to save the data even if the user forgets to click the "Save" button before leaving the page.
So far I can do this from the link buttons in MP2. I followed the master pages tutorial # 7
In the .cs file for MP2, I declare:
public event EventHandler SaveData;
then i raise a "SaveData" event any time a link button in MP2 is clicked.in every content page (CP1, CP2 etc.) aspx file, I have Master Type directive to assign the Master Page to MP2.
in CP1, CP2 etc .cs file, i have the following code: protected void Page_PreInit(object sender, EventArgs e) { //wire up the SaveData event from MP2 to Master_SaveData function in this page. Master.SaveData += new EventHandler(Master_SaveData); } private void Master_SaveData(object sender, EventArgs e) { //when the MP2 SaveData event is raised, save the data in this page. SaveData(); }
All of this works fine.Problem is I am not able to do a similar thing from MP1.What I have tried so far is to raise an event in MP1 that is handled in MP2. When the event is handled in MP2, it raises the SaveData event to be handled in the page. The event in MP1 is null and hence never raised.
I am working on an app where i am having some linkbuttons in master page. I want to display them depending upon the authorization given to them once they logs in. I have initially made all of them visible false and then i am checking the authorisation in the aspx.cs class of master page. I make the link button visible depending upon the right granted to the user. But it is making all the link buttons visible. Instead it should only make two of them visible and rest should be hidden. Following is my code from MasterPage.aspx.cs:
Can anybody let me know the activex script for detecting .net runtime and directx runtime or any other way how can I detect this in any machine by from my web page ?
I've googled all over for a solution but I cannot seem to find it or understand it if I have looked at. What I want to do is click a link that I generated from txt data that will unhide my div and generate a new series of links. In order to generate these links I need to pass an argument. Then I want to click a generated link (now the 2nd level) to unhide another div and generate another list of links (now a 3rd level) with an argument.
It sounds simple but once I click the 2nd level link (the 2nd generated link) I lose everything as the page reloads. I understand that when I click the 2nd level link it is posting back to the page and wiping out my variables maintaining my generated links. Below I've attached some code that simulates my problem (minus the file calls for generating links). The first link(generated and placed in a panel) reveals div with another set of links based on an argument. The third link (the second link hides the first div) is suppose reveal another div with the message "YAY". The third link does not display the second div but instead refreshes the page.
I'm trying to conditionally hide 2 link buttons within a Gridview(gvPosts), ModifyButton and DeleteButton. I want the two buttons to hide in every row where the currently logged on Username is not the same as the Username in gvPosts' lbEmpID, a LinkButton control in the same row. Unfortunately the code is hiding the buttons in every row, including the one where lbEmpID.text = Profile.Username. My code is below, what am I doing wrong?
Dim lbtn As LinkButton For Each rowItem As GridViewRow In gvPosts.Rows lbtn = DirectCast(rowItem.Cells(0).FindControl("lbEmpID"), LinkButton) If lbtn.Text <> Profile.UserName Then Dim Modify As LinkButton Dim Remove As LinkButton For Each rowItem1 As GridViewRow In gvPosts.Rows Modify = DirectCast(rowItem1.Cells(0).FindControl("ModifyButton"), LinkButton) Remove = DirectCast(rowItem1.Cells(0).FindControl("RemoveButton"), LinkButton) Modify.Visible = False Remove.Visible = False Next End If 'If chk.Checked Then 'Response.Write(chk.ClientID + "<br />") 'End If Next
how the WCF, DAO and DTO layers communicate with each other? I would appreciate if someone can specify which layer comes first and then how it interacts with the next layer
I built a scraper for an ASP.NET site (specifically a Jenzabar course searching portlet) that would create a new session, load the first search page, then simulate a search by posting back the required fields. However, something changed, and I can't figure out what, and now I get HTTP 500 responses to everything. There are no new fields in the browser's POST data that I can see.I would ideally like to figure out how to fix my own scraper, but that is probably difficult to ask about on StackOverflow without including a ton of specific contex
Basically I have a page where a user can select up to 3 vehicles by make and model. I have 3 divs on the page that is generated with a basic foreach loop. When the user selects a make and model from respective dropdown lists I am firing a javascript function that returns a JSonResult that loads a dynamic partial view into a seperate div. This partial view displays a div with a grid whereby the user can select one of n-number of services using a checkbox.Next what I would like to do is if the user selects a servce for the one of the vehicle selections, I would like to add this selection to a list of "ServiceSelection" that is part of my viewmodel. Ultimately the user would click a button that would redirect to the next step in the process and pass the entire updated viewmodel to this new page.
I have the following list of projects WebUI (WebSite) , DataAccess (ClassLibrary) , LogicLayer(ClassLibrary). Those of the project are purposively crated separately.But my scenario is, need to create only one solution file, then add all of the above projects under this solution file. So that i can be easiy interacted and changes can be made by opening solution file only instead of opening each project individually.
Simply all of the layer projects are under one roof means one solution. I tried it by adding solution first, then i added already existed project into this. But once after added already existing project the solution icon vanished by showing the icon of recently added project. By this way I could not add another project into this section too.Hope this is the way the basic real-time projects are created; to achieve the centralized control over architecture based projects.
.net has all these build in GUI elements. The purpose is that we build a .net web application and for the coding itselve I'm very familiar with jQuery in PHP but I noticed that in .Net everybody starts using it too.Is jQuery the best way these days to deal with this in .NET (c#)? or are there others you might recommend?
I read some article about unitOfwork and repository but i'm still confused about how they interact, and how to use them in the right way.
I'm using an addressbook project to practise on patterns (even if , likely, patterns are not usefull) without any ORM framework for persistence.
My domain objects are (at now) : AddressBook (acts as an application controller), Contact (contains information about each contact in the address book), ContactGroup (mantain collections of contact).
Should i have to use distinct repository object for contact ad contactgroup?
I thought to use a UnitOfWork for the operation about the adding/removing contact to group : the user can add existing contact to a group, create a new contact while adding it to the group or remove contact from group.
I have a GridView attached to an ObjectDataSource (returning a DataTable) in a UserControl. The code is really simple. Data comes down fine when the page is first rendered. When I click on Select or Delete (inside TemplateFields), RowCommand is supposed to fire but it doesn't, the page goes straight to Page_Load. I literally have 0 other event handlers that are set on this control and everything else in the codebehind shouldn't even fire if it's a postback. Also on postback, the Select and Delete buttons disappear. It looks like the TemplateFields are still there but they're empty. The data fields (all of two columns) post back fine.
