AJAX :: UpdatePanel Content Not Centering

Mar 9, 2011

I'm having an odd problem. I have a <td> that is set to align it's content in the center. There is a label at the top of the TD that is centered. But then I have an UpdatePanel, and the content of the update panel is not centered. I tried clearing the browser cache, and everything in between but for some reason all of the contents (two GridViews) of the UpdatePanel will not center.

AJAX :: How To Change UpdatePanel Content From Another UpdatePanel

Jun 23, 2010

I have a dropdownlist, that causes a postback. On the SelectedIndexChanged event, is it possible to force a placeholder that is within a different UpdatePanel to change it's visibility?

For example, when the SelectedItem.Value of DropDownList1 is "1" then show Placeholder1, otherwise hide it.

What I am most interested in is how to configure the UpdatePanels to allow this.

AJAX :: Adding Trigger To UpdatePanel From Content Page?

Sep 10, 2010

I got an updatepanel which contains a normal panel on MasterPage. The updatepanel does not contain content place holder. On the content page, I have to add triggers to updatepanel for buttons that are dynamically created on "page_load" event. The problem is that, since the page_load event of content page is being called before master page's page_load event, UpdatePanel is not being created. So that, whenever i try to add triggers in page_load event of content page, i got an error like "A control with ID 'ctl00$editableContent$ctl42' could not be found for the trigger in UpdatePanel 'up1'."

The code below is for adding triggers to updatepanel for buttons.

MasterClass master = (MasterClass)Page.Master;
AsyncPostBackTrigger trig = new AsyncPostBackTrigger(); [code]....

AJAX :: UpdatePanel Not Working For RadioButtonList In Content Page?

Feb 4, 2010

I have the same problem as [URL] However, the solution doesn't work for me since I'm using .Net 4.0 and xhtmlConformance is not there from start.

Basically, using a master page, the RadioButtonList still do the whole page postback even it's in the UpdatePanel. When I put the exact same code in a standalone page without a master page, it works as expected.

AJAX :: Updating Content Within A Placeholder (updatepanel) Using A Timer?

Feb 1, 2011

GOAL: on a web page (vb.net) content in a placeholder will refresh with a different .ascx (user control) every 30 seconds (rotating 3 in total) and of course i dont want to refresh the whole page, just the placeholder.

I'm new at AJAX (that's my first problem - lol)

I set the timer up to call a function, but not sure how to go about refreshing the placeholder with a different ascx file. I'm sure i'll be using UpdatePanel to do this, but haven't been able to figure this out. Easy to replace a value in a label using AsyncPostBack trigger, but nothing on how to achieve this.

AJAX :: Refresh UpdatePanel At Content Page Asynchronously From Master Page?

Mar 5, 2011

I have master page

My problem is the post back is full post back when refreshing UpdatePanelDefault1. VS 2010 - Centering Page With Min And Max Widths

Nov 1, 2010

I want my webpage to be centered in the browser, but at the same time also have a minimum and maximum width.

I know I can center the page (well, the div element really) by setting the margin-left and margin-right CSS properties to auto. This works just fine and the page is centered, with room to spare on both the left and right side.

But, if your monitor is wide, this space is wasted, and I want the page to expand in that case. So instead of using 'auto' for the margin-left and margin-right properties, I used a fixed margin of 50px on both sides. Now, the site expands and shrinks with the browser nicely, and it is still centered.

However, I don't want the site to become too small, otherwise elements start overlapping. So, I set the min-width property in the CSS to 800px. This still works fine. I can resize the browser and the page shrinks, until it hits 800px then it simply stays in place.

The relevant CSS at this time is:

Code:

.page
{
margin: 10px 50px 10px 50px;
min-width: 800px;
}

A new problem now occurs when the browser window is too large. In that case the contents of the site are all on the left side, and the right side of the page (the page mainly consists of a grid) is empty. So what I want now is to also set a maximum width. I tried doing that by simply setting the max-width property in the CSS (to 1650px):

Code:

.page
{
margin: 10px 50px 10px 50px;
min-width: 800px;
max-width: 1650px;
}

This doesn't work the way I want though. While it doesn't expand the site further than 1650px, the site is no longer centered when the browser window is larger than that. The margin is kept fixed at 50px on the left, but it grows on the right side (because the page cannot grow any further).

So, I thought I could set the margins back to auto:

Code:

.page
{
margin: 10px auto 10px auto;
min-width: 800px;
max-width: 1650px;
}

While the page is large enough, this works just fine, the page is centered. However, if I now shrink the window again, so that the width of the page is below the max-width, there is no longer a margin on the left and right sides! The page just sits right against the browser edge...

What I basically need is a way to set the margin to auto, but with a minimum margin of 50px. Is that possible?

Centering A Sortable Row Header In The GridView?

Mar 15, 2011

I cannot seem to center the header text of a column in my GridView if it is sortable. The html output is much different for a sortable column (it seems to place a table inside of the td column).

Any thoughts on what can be done to get this centered?

I put the html ouput in a jsfiddle here ... [URL]

I have tried the following code on the grid view with no success. Bear in mind that the bound fields are server controls I designed but they do not affect the header text in any fashion:

<sc:DateBoundField DataField="LastLogin" SortExpression="LastLogin" HeaderText="Last Login"
HeaderStyle-Width="125px" ItemStyle-Width="125px" HeaderStyle-HorizontalAlign="Center" />
<sc:SCommandButtonField Command="Change" ItemStyle-Width="100px" HeaderStyle-Width="100px"
HeaderText="Change" HeaderStyle-HorizontalAlign="Center" Image="img.axd?ico16=edit" />

Using ScriptManager / UpdatePanel In Content Page

Aug 21, 2011

I have a small website that uses 1 masterpage and several content pages. I'm able to insert a <ScriptManager> onto my content pages (just a couple of them). However, when I try to insert the <UpdatePanel>, it won't take it. I tried to wrap the <UpdatePanel> around a <Div> and it didn't like that, so then I tried wrapping the <UpdatePanel> around the actual textbox and it didn't like that. Below is some sample code.

Code:

<%@ Page Title="" Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" MasterPageFile="~/Site1.Master" CodeBehind="Profile.aspx.vb" Inherits="PF.Profile" %>

<asp:Content ID="Content3" ContentPlaceHolderID="contentProfile" runat="server">
<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server"></asp:ScriptManager>
<div class="ProfileDIV" style="width: 48%;">

[Code]....

How can I incorporate the <ScriptManager>/<UpdatePanel> onto my content pages?

AJAX :: How To Trigger Updatepanel Postback From Another Updatepanel

Mar 4, 2011

I have a web user control with one updatepanel (pnlUpdate_2), some controls and one apply button. I display the web user control as a modalpopup in my default page. In my default page i have an updatepanel (pnlUpdate_1) with a gridview and I modify that gridview with the apply button of the web user control. The web user control is for made a custom search of the gridview data. I have a problem with both updatepanels. If I set the updatemode as always in one of them (pnlUpdate_1) and the other as conditional (pnlUpdate_2), the pnlUpdate_1 make a postback in the pnlUpdate_2; I'm not an expert on this but I think that's why the pnlUpdate_2 disappear and reappear after postback of some controls in that updatepanel (not the apply button, it close the modal after postback). I try all the combinations and the problem persists. So I put both updatepanels as conditional and in some way it works; now the problem is that when I click the apply button in pnlUpdate_2 to modify the gridview in pnlUpdate_1 the pnlUpdate_1 not made the postback I get the pnlUpdate_2 postback when I use some control inside the pnlUpdate_1.

How can I postback the pnlUpdate1 from pnlUpdate_2 with the apply button?

Javascript - Defer Loading UpdatePanel Content Until After The Page Renders?

Oct 7, 2010

Old hand at ASP.NET, new to the UpdatePanel. I have a reporting page which executes a fairly length SQL query... takes about 10 seconds right now. What I would like to do is have my page fully render, with some placeholder text (Loading...) and then have the UpdatePanel kick off the actual time-consuming reporting process and render the report when it's done.

So... my theory is to use RegisterStartupScript() to kick this off and drop the string from GetPostBackEventReference() to trigger the UpdatePanel update. Some problems crop up:

1) Can I actually use GetPostBackEventReference w/ the UpdatePanel or do I need to trigger it some other way? Use this method on a button inside the Update Panel?

2) What event gets triggered when the postback reference is the UpdatePanel? It's not clear to me. I've got to call my databinding code somewhere! Again, maybe I need to use a button inside?

AJAX :: Can Change The Content Of The Content Place Holder To A New Page With Asynchronous Postback

Jan 4, 2010

I am building a website in which all of the site layout is in Master page and the content of the site is in the inherited pages. I have various links for navigation in which i simple use Response.Redirect to transfer to different pages. Now the problem is that I want to put the content place holder inside Ajax Update panel so that the postbacks are Asynchronous and I want to show the postback by an animated image inside Update Panel progress control. The problem is that I am unable to achieve this result and the entire page is posted back and rendered again. I have placed the content place holder inside the Ajax control toolkit's Update panel but it does not work. Is there any way that I can change the content of the content place holder to a new page with asynchronous postback.

AJAX :: UpdatePanel Conditional Update OnLoad Event / Updatepanel To Update On Queue?

Aug 25, 2010

i have a website with three UpdatePanel Control and inside of each UpdatePanels has ONE Gridview and a SqlDataSource Control.

all gridviews are connected to its own SqlDataSource Control. so technically when i run my website all gridviews automatically get their data from their respective SqlDataSource Control and display them accordingly.

but what i need to do is instead of letting all the update panels to load each gridview their data upon Onload event, i need the updatepanel to update on queue, (Technically changing the UpdateMode to Conditional does not solve my problem.) there will be an event which will trigger the updatepanel to update later.

Using Ajax Script To Load Content From An Aspx Page On Another Server Than The Page Calling The Content

Mar 22, 2010

I'm using this Ajax script [URL] to load content from an aspx page on another server than the page calling the content. So far I've learned that this is a no go. The problem seems to be that when using an absolute link to content the script fails as apposed to using a relative link.

I've searched the web for about 10 hours now, and I still haven't found what I'm looking for.
