Aug 12, 2010I tried to use a DropDown-Control (WebDropdown from Infragistics) for the following function: Let the user enter any text or if he wishes choosing by a context menu two different "Already exist entries" in the DropDown-List from where he can choose a value. The behaviour should be this for the DropDown: Right-clicking on the DropDown-Control, filling the DropDownList in the server depending on the choosen context menu item, opening the DropDownList in the client.
The way I tried to solve:
Open (by javascript) a context menu by right clicking on the control

What's the problem? The problem is, that the above javascript function does find the WebDropDown1 control only if it is called client side (e.g. with a OnClientClick button event), calling it from server side (as in the ContextMenu_ItemClick subroutine) it does not find the WebDropDown1 control. The error is shown (translated into english): run time error: object expected.
Maybe a completly different solution is necessary as I transfer a windows forms program into a web form ajax style program. I could use a textbox with dropdownextender for example. But the problem seems to be always the same: uncoupling the dropdown function, which is a client side one, by first filling the dropdownlist on server side, and then invoking the dropdown event makes the problem.

Feb 2, 2011I have a radiobuttonlist inside a datalist itemtemplate and i need to bind the radiobuttonlist dynamically from database I have tried to bind it inside itemdatabound event of datalist but it the result is always duplicated according to the fields in teh database.
for more information:
the database has two columns one for questions and the other is for choices , for the first question with id lets say 1 there are 4 choices, when the radiobutton is binded the result appears to be 4 times duplicated ?
AJAX :: AsyncPostBackTrigger With A RadioButtonList Control?
Dec 28, 2010I am converting an old payment page from classic ASP to ASP.NET. The page includes three radio button options (credit card, purchase order, bill me). The old page uses javascript to enable/disable the appropriate input fields depending on which payment option is selected. For example, if the payment selection is changed from "credit card" to "purchase order", the credit card fields are disabled, and the PO number field is enabled.
I want to mimick this behavior using ASP.NET + server-side AJAX, so I created RadioButtonList for the payment options, and put all the data input controls (credit card number, purchase order number, etc.) within an UpdatePanel. The UpdatePanel has an AsyncPostBackTrigger with ControlID set to the RadioButtonList, and an EventName specified which tries to enable/disable the appropriate input fields depending on which payment option is selected. This doesn't seem to work because changing the radio button selection doesn't seem to fire this trigger.
Is it possble to utilize AsyncPostBackTrigger with a RadioButtonList control? If not can you suggest a way to handle this scenario for dynamically enabling/disabling form inputs?

Basically, using a master page, the RadioButtonList still do the whole page postback even it's in the UpdatePanel. When I put the exact same code in a standalone page without a master page, it works as expected.

I am using VWD 2008.. I have a RadioButtonList with two options.

When the LoadingOption change it then has some code behind that at the moment changes the <asp:Literal ID="ItemName" runat="server" /> text.
If I don't have a Radiobutton selected when the page loads then all works fine. i.e. I can select either radiobutton and the ItemName updates correctly.... Whats the problem you may ask ????
Well I want to have one of the Radio buttons selected when the page has been loaded (like a default setting). So I do this <asp:ListItem Text="1kVA" Value="1kVA" Selected="True" />........ Here is my problem, When I select the other option (7kVA) the ItemName updates fine BUT if I then select the first option (1kVA) the ItemName does not update. I added another button that just does a postback. When the button is clicked the ItemName updates correctly. OK, fine but I don't want that. I want to be able to click on one option and the ItemName updates then click on the other option and the ItemName updates.
Have I missed something out ??
By the way if I set the <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="LoadingOptions" /> to <asp:PostBackTrigger ControlID="LoadingOptions" /> then it works how I want it apart from the reloading of the page, I would like it to update in Async Mode so it is seemless and no page reload.
AJAX :: Page Refresh Clears RadioButtonList / Giving Error?
Dec 6, 2010When I refresh a page (either manually or with meta tags) after uploading an image with AsyncFileUpload, it clears out a RadioButtonList I'm using and this causes errors when the user tries to go to another page. The strangest thing is that the RadioButtonList only clears after the first refresh; when I click the RBL back to the original value, then refresh the page, it doesn't affect the RBL anymore.
All the applicable controls are enclosed in Update Panels.
(I wrote about a similar problem in forums.asp.net/t/1609492.aspx but I suspected that that problem had to do with a ModalPopupExtender and AsycnFileUpload combination. However, after removing the MPE, the problem still occurs so now I can only conclude that the AsynchFileUpload is the problem.)

when the page loads, i can select yes adn it displays, i can select no and it disappears.. i hit yes it reappears.. but after like the 3rd time going back and fourth testing the functionality, it stops displaying all together.
Is there something i need to look at to find out what is going on?

Feb 24, 2011I am new to ASP.NET (2 months) and my very first assignment is to create a website for a municipality. Purchasing as much reading material as possible, I got started and after some time, I have a decent website (coded in C#) that is ready to be internally tested on the departmental webserver. The Web server is running IIS 7 and the pages were developed with Visual Studio 2010. On the main default page, I wanted to implement a slide show using the AJAXControlToolkit which I installed. I watched the ASP.net tutorial [URL] and literally coded my slide show verbatim. I try to launch my slideshow within my default.aspx page and absolutely nothing happens. The steps that I took are
1. Created a webservice (SlidesService.asmx) which generated a code behind file (SlidesService.cs).
2. I created the web method GetSlides() containing a 22 element array which I place in the code behind file.
3. Implement the ToolkitScriptManager establishing my image control.
4. Defined my Previous, Play and Next buttons.
5. Implemented my SlideShowExtender providing my SlideShowServicePath and SlideShowServiceMethod.
Assumptions: In doing all of the above, I noticed that the SlidesService.asmx file needs no code (as I placed all code within the codebehind file). The SlidesService.cs code behind file should reside in the App_Code folder whereas the the SlidesService.asmx file can remain in the root folder. No Button e.g Button_Click needs to be attached to the code behind source file. If I have conveyed my steps properly, can anyone shed some light on why when clicking the play button, nothing happens? Code is listed below.
