Access File Properties From FTp?
Apr 2, 2010I wish to access FTP server(with username + password), and retrieve the file properties of all the files from a folder.

View 5 RepliesI am relatively new to ASP.NET. I am just wondering if there is way to read values from properties file (similar to rading a properties file from JSP or java).
For example if a property file has something similar to this:
[Code]....
I would like to read all the values for username_list (comma seperated) and also the value of is_valid.
I have two pages page1.aspx and page2.aspx, both have code behind with partial classes. How do i access public property message on page1.aspx from page2.aspx ?
public string message { get; set; }
I have added a static string variable inside a web page with it's class named VersionBase. The class is public, the variable is public, why can't I simply do VersionBase.MyString from anywhere inside the project like I can do with any other class?
View 13 RepliesI have an empty GridView object on a page that I bind to a LINQ qry result at run time. The GridView has a 'Select" button that fires the SelectedIndexChanged event and it's inside of this event that I'd like to access the data of one of the fields in the selected row.So far, I can only find one way to do this, and it seems suboptimal:
protected void GridView2_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
GridViewRow row = GridView2.SelectedRow;
string UserID = row.Cells[1].Text;
//Do stuff with the userID
}
So this just access the cell data directly based on the cell index. The UserID just happens to be in the second cell and so it works. But later down the road, the UserID may not be in that same column.
My web method returns object 'User' that has a lot of properties.
In my 'OnComplete' function I am receiving those object.
[code]....
Question: How can I get values of object properties?
The code above provides me with '[object Object]' text instead of real object value.
I have an asp table with 15 rows and 12 columns, each cell as an ID and the cell names are like Cell1, Cell2, Cell3, etc.
I need to change the background color of the cell but the name of the cell comes from a string.
Something like:
strCell = "Cell3"
strCell.bgcolor = "Red"
How do I "convert" this string to access the cell properties?
I want to build a custom validator control that inherits from BaseValidator. It will only be used on textboxes in my asp.net application. How can I get access to the textbox itself (read properties of the textbox) within the custom validator?
Here is what I have in my EvaluateIsValid function:
Dim t As TextBox = CType(Page.FindControl(Me.ControlToValidate), TextBox)
Return t.Text.Length <= t.MaxLength
It can't seem to find the control, so it breaks with a null reference exception. Can I do this another way?
How to access userControl's properties, when use FindControl method?
View 7 RepliesI have following environment:
masterpage with a contentPlacholder multiple pages which use this masterpage and implement a base-class (fooPage) fooPage has a certain property (fooProperty)
[Code]....
Obviously this is not going to work - but how can I achieve this?
I know the alternative: call a method from the masterPage in the contentPage with fooProperty as a parameter - but i would like to rather have a pull-system in this case...
I have put a user control on my default page. The user control contains a label and a textbox. When I am trying to access the user control from the default page in the codebehind it says
Object reference not set to an instance of an object. I am wanting to do something like this:
I am on .aspx page and i want to take the width and height of a control from a static class
where i have defined them as constans.
Is there any way to access that class directly from the aspx page?
I know that i can make a method like:
width="<%= getWidthSize() %>"
and inside the aspx.cs to define this method to take the size from that static class.
But i am asking if this could be directly managed from the web aspx page...?
I'm able to change the mask value and mask type for ajax MaskedEditExtender using java script in run time but when I try to change the ValidationExpression and TooltipMessage for ajax MaskedEditValidator.
simply my code will call ChangeMask() function to do these changes when the check box change.
when you run my code the mask will work ok but not for MaskedEditValidator.
Here is my refrence for this code:

Why i can't access MasterPage's public property (MessagePlaceholder) from other Class (Errors) ?Error compiler gives me is "Error 1 The type or namespace name 'MyMasterPage' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)"my master page code behind

i have websrvice class in this i declared a webmethod and a public property my problem is i want to acess service class public property in my asp.net web application after creating proxy object.
service class:
[Code]....
Here's the scenario: A class based on System.Web.UI.Page has been created. A number of content pages derive from this class. All of these content pages use the same master page. The content pages define controls which need to access things on the master page (in code-behind). This is fine - no problem. In particular, each content page has its own data grid. The grid on each page has the same name, so that common code can reference it. In fact, some event handling for the grids on each content page is identical, so would like to factor that code to the base class. Interestingly, I can actually define the event handler entirely in the base class, with no stub in the content class at all, because the wire-up of event handlers uses the event-handler name defined in the grid, and that name happens to be found in the inherited base class. All good and dandy... very cool in fact. The problem comes when the code in the base class needs to access any of the common elements from the content page's master. Remember, the master is the same, and I know the type of the master. I would like to do something like this in the base-class code:
((myMasterType)this.Master).PropertyofMaster=xxx;
The problem is, that myMasterType - the type of the master page the content pages are using - is not available at compile time, at least not from a class definition for a base page. I've found articles that claim that the class name of the master is available - and it is, but not from a separate class. I CAN see it and compile with the master's class name from, for example, the code behind of the various content pages. But the actually class simply isn't available, it seems, from a pure class (the base page class). Judging from other times this question has been asked, here are common misunderstandings offered as solutions: 1. Use a page directive to declare the master type. This is not even vaguely a part of the problem, as the issue is not code in the content page, but in a separate base class which content pages inherit from. That base class is a pure class -- no .ASPX file at all. 2. Pass a reference to the master object from the content page to the base class. This can be done, but is pointless, because I can already get it, using "this.Master" from the base class! But because the type of the master is not available at compile time from the base class, it can't be passed from the content page either - unless it is passed with type MasterPage, thus losing all the properties/methods publically defined in the specific master page class. 3. Move the base page class out of the App_Code folder because the app_code folder is compiled before the other classes, and thus before the master page class. Doesn't work -- put the master page class file right in the same folder with these content pages and their master page, and the master page class is still not available at compile time from within the class. Re-summarized: Base page inherited by content pages. Content pages all use a common master page. Want to access the public properties of that master page from the base page, at runtime. Barrier is that I can find no way from within the base class to cast the master page object to the actual master page subclass being used.
I have created a Master Page and exposed a Literal control on it by way of a public property.
[Code]....
In my content page I have referenced the Master Page like so :
[Code]....
However in my content page code behind I cannot see the custom properties of the master page in Visual Studio.
i created a user control that has a template container.
[code]....
This is control is placed in a repeater which lists some customers. The customer is than bound to the user control. When the name template is instantiated in the container, the customer object is not yet available, but I need to access its name because it needs to get parsed before.
[code]....
Question: How can I access properties set for the user control BEFORE the template container is instantiated?
I'm developing a web site, and i'm using infragistics for web, but I want to use in some pages silverlight controls (Infragistics too). Is there a way to access a silverlight control's properties and methods from an aspx page?
View 3 RepliesI do have Dictionary<Guid, Menu> where Guid is ID and Menu is my model for view which contains different properties
that is :
public class Menu
{ [code]....
now i do have extension method in which thru services i m assigning value to it..
extension method is like this :
public static Dictionary<Guid, Menu> GetMenuCategoriesModel(this IRService irService, IMCService imcService, Guid rId
my question is that i have view named "Index" and in that view i wanna display "name" and i am generating strongly typed view and i have to use Dictionary<Guid, Menu> as model , how do i access Menu's properties as i wanna display name on the page ?
Is it possible to either access the properties, such as 'url', of a embedded media player object server side to change them? Or possibly dynamically create a new media player object with a different 'url' each time?
I am trying to change the property based off of a selectedindexchanging event of a gridview object.
I have a view that is strongly typed and its model is of type LogOnModel. That LogOnModel has anotated properties like this one:
[Required(ErrorMessage = "Please enter your password")]
[DataType(DataType.Password)]
[Display(Name = "Password", Description = "Your secreet password")]
public string Password { get; set; }
All of them has Display anotation with Display.Descripion property set. I want to create HtmlHelper extension method that will output <span> containg the value of Display.Description property. So for example if I called my extension method DescriptionFor than this code:
<%: Html.DescriptionFor(m => m.Password) %>
should produce following html: <span>Your secreet password</span>
I am using an ObjectDataSource control to call a MapInfo object. This object has two properties:
public IList Visits
public int TotalAvailable
The select method returns an IList but the TotalAvailable property is also populated. I have set the TypeName in the ObjectDataSource to the MapInfo object but because the Select method only returns the IList I don't have access to the TotalAvailable.
[code]....
Is there any way to access this value. I know it is being populated in the MapInfo object but all that gets returned from the Select method is the IList
I have search for a long long time and could not find a solution to access to grid view's column properties. I have binded a grid view through this method, the bindGridView function will return a table with columns and rows.
The problem here is I cound not access to columns properties such as Grid_View.Columns.Count or Grid_View.Columns[0]."something". It seems like the grid_view does not have any column. But I can access to the Rows properties.
I have put this code within a (!IsPostBack) and set the AutoGenerateColumns to true?
I need to access to columns badly as I need t add additional column to the binded grid view.

I am making a JSON call to web method which is defined in code behind. The web method returns a class object.The class returns 3 properties one of type list and 2 integers. I am accessing these in the following manner:
success: function(result) {
alert(result);
alert(result.LookCount);
alert(result.length);
if(result.LookCount > 0)
{
var Info = "";
for(var i = 0;i < result.LookUps.length; i++)
{
Info += CreateLookUpGrid(result.LookUps[i].Client,result.LookUps[i].ClientOrg);
}
alert(result.LookCount) -> alerts undefined and when i alert result it shows me the compelte result string which has all data. So the data is returned correctly by web method. But I am unable to access it.
