I am storing an image file into Access database using access form. I am trying to read it out and render it on a webpage using ASP.Net 3.5 and C# but it has read error message.
But if I store the same image to Access using ASP.NET and C# and then retrieve it using ASP.NET and C# and has no problem at all.
Is Access store varbinary difference that ASP.NET store varbinary?

I'm currently trying to READ XML file from the client machine where the user can open from any location (there is no specific location). However, i browse to the folder and select the xml file and when it execute this line (below) it throw an error complaining about access to the path is denied any idea how should i approach?

I have a function that will take a file uploaded by a user of my system and store the contents of the file into a varbinary(max) field in a sql server database. I then display the filename of the file in a data grid for the user to see as a link button. When the user clicks on the link button, I want the file to be read from the database and served out to the user as a prompt to download the file. How can this be accomplished? The upload is fine, it is the download I can't figure out. Here is what I have so far.

I've had read some articles and watch video tutorial which there were perfectly working and I followed it but I wasn't able to make it work. The image control just displayed blank. I used Generic Handler to retrieve the image file from my database based on the articles and tutorials I've got. here are my codes below:

I know this is probably a pretty easy thing to do and it is if I can upload the file and store it onto the hard drive of the server. What I need to do is read the text file into memory and then parse through it one line at a time. Anyone have any code that demonstrates that?
View 8 RepliesI have a page which displays details and a pictures of employees. The details are stored in a SQL database and the images are on the server. How can I set a default Image to display (e.g. an Image saying "Awaiting Image") if an employee picture is missing?
I can't use NullImageUrl as the Images are not stored in the database. I can't use the solution found on [URL] as an ImageField does not accept an ID attribute.

We have a site that is public facing, let's say it's http://www.example.com. When the SSL is implemented, [URL], I can no longer access the jQuery 1.4.3 file on my own server. Furthermore, after a tweak to the security setting, I was able to get past the 'Access is Denied' error, but the first call was null.I understand there is a problem with different protocols actually being within the scope of the cross-domain problem? Is that true? And if so, will this now require JSONP?

View 1 RepliesHere's a short explanation of my asp.net project.
1) the default page loads, it will read the Windows Login of the user opening the page.
2) I'll check if this login exists in a table stored on the webserver.
In this Access Database, there's a 2nd linked table, pointing to another access table on a network location. Now, I want to read data from this linked table. However, at this moment I receive an error:
"The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file '\<ip><shared-folder>statistics.mdb'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data".
Some extra info:
- The network folder has read and write permissions for everyone
- the user and group permissions on both access files are set to read/modify/administer for the Admin user (on the tables I want to read from)
- IIS authentication on the server is set to "Windows Authentication" (this is needed so I can read the Windows Login from the user). All other authentication modes are disables (like anonymous, ...)
- When the error occurs, no other program or process has access to the statistics.mdb (so, it can't be locked by someone else)
- the web.config files access connection string looks like:
<add name="AccessConnectionString" connectionString="Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=\<IP><shared-folder>statistics.mdb;User Id=admin; Password=;" />
Like I said before, in this statistics.mdb file, there are 2 tables. One normal table, and another linked table (pointing to a network location)
Searching for solutions, I discovered the following:
- if I don't use linked tables, everything works fine (however, I have to use this linked table)
- even if I connect directly to the table in the network I receive the error. So, I'm pretty sure I don't have sufficient rights to read from this table.
I read that not the Admin user is opening the file, but actually a user called ASP.NET. This user doesn't have the correct rights to do this. However, I'm not sure if this is true.
I would like ask you for some ideas how can I write mechanism that will be automatically read files from folder. I don't know how to schedule the write task. I want to check for new file everyday and if the new file is in the folder read it.

So I'm working on a site that is going to need a file upload control where the user would be able to upload an image, and then the page would postback causing the image to appear for their viewing (before they submit the data to the database, the image is being stored as type image). What I do now is have my own private web form where people send me their image, I format it accordingly and use the following simple code to upload it:

Which works, but in this case, it would only work if the record exists already in the database so the person would have to save the data, then go back in and upload the image (inconvenient and inefficient). Is there a way to upload it, store it in memory, and then display it, without saving it to the database?
How can I display an image on a view that comes from a Resource file. For example: Resources.Images. Logo.
And should I do this?

Am displaying the contents of a folder(folders n files) in a gridview.In the gridview,file/foldername ,type ,size ,Last modified date columns are displayed.the datasource for this gridview is supplied manually through a datatable.
