in my database table has four field as follws firstname, lastname, User_id and serial no as (Autonumber as well as PK) i am able to insert first 3 values by insert query as above but, insert autonumber data type mismatch.
Ther error: Input string was not in a correct format- keeps popping up when I do an update on access table.
Since the autonumber is a "number" my var (theID)should be an integer? my code:
AccessDataSource1.UpdateCommand = "update customers set title= @tb2,pdate=@thisdate,state=@dd1,description=@tb3,location
=@tb4 where custID = "
+ theID
I'm passing a model to a view, and the model contains this attribute:
[Required(ErrorMessage = "Please enter a start date")]
[DataType(DataType.DateTime)]
[DisplayName("Start Date")]
public DateTime StartDate { get; set; }
And I have this in my view:
<%: Html.TextBoxFor(m => m.StartDate) %>
When I load the page, the textbox is populated with a date: 1/1/0001 12:00:00 AM
Is there a way to not have this happen, maybe by using metadata?
I have a Time(7) feild in my table that needs a default value of 0. How do I set this?
I tried to do it like this:

I want the cursor to appear on the first text box in my screen when user goes to the site I have coded this but no cursor is placed in textbox

Is there anything missing in IIS 6.0 that prevents me from (Insert into table) using MS-Access?
Explain: The application works fine under Visual Studio 2008 IDE the insert into table works fine with no error, Also I tested with hosting provider and works fine with no problem. but now I have published the same exact app in a dedicated server windows 2003 with
IIS 6.0 .NET framework 2.0 with latest service pack I gave IIS_WPG write/modify access to the folder where MS-Access database is located and database but at the time of insert an error pop-up. I need to install in the Server or settings in the IIS to recognize my MS-Access db is it some office runtime that I am missing. (BTW I am using OLEDB connection string in my C# )
Using System.Data.OleDb;
I can retrieve data off of it with no problem but when I try to insert is when it fails I thought the problem was Access Rights but I do not think is the case.
I have an SQL DB which contains 2 tables. The first one 'advs' has some information about an advertisement and it got an ID field. The second one, "photos", contains all the paths of photos, this one also has an ID field.
Each advertisement from the 'advs' Table has three photos in the PHOTOS table. now obviously the photos related to the 'ad' must have the same ID.
What I'm trying to do is a Form to add the information about each advertisement and its' photos. This form should enter the SAME ID number to both tables AUTOMATICALLY after adding.
I've a web form whereby my invoice number is "CS00x" whereby x is the auto number supposedly to be generated using the following codes:
[Code]....
However, when the first time I login and try if the invoice number can be inserted into the database in access, it would display CS0001 which is the result I want. So, I went on to try out using another account to login.But it gives me error "The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field
or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again."Also, I found out that it can only generate CS001 but not CS002 so on.
I wish to create a field in my SQL table with the following format: XXX[Year][Month][5-digit auto-increment number].It will look something like this: TAC20100300001, TAC20100300002 etc...Is anyone able to help me? I'm using SQL Server 2005 and ASP.net
View 5 Repliesi have gridview that shows some information i want to have column that be autonumber shows the row number of gridview.for example i have 7 row in gridview it show 1 for first row ,2 second row,3 third row,... how can i do that?
View 3 Replieshow to start/formulate codes on this.I want that in every form load, textbox1 will generate autonumber and random number for textbox 2.
View 2 RepliesI have made a AutoNumber Identity Column and iset Identity Specification property to "Yes" to keep the Identity Increment and Identity Seed values as default ones.
But when i use a datagriview and use a table adapter the column donīt appear on the datagridview.
Me.AUTONUMER2TableAdapter1.Fill(Me.Teste1DataSet3.AUTONUMER2)
So how to show to a AutoNumber Identity Column on a datagriview ?
In a repeater control I've Eval binding as:
<%#Eval("PubDate", "{0:dd-MMM-yyyy}")%>
But date time format needs to be configurable from the web.config. I want to access datetime format from web.config in markup like:
<%#Eval("PubDate", "{0:<%$ AppSettings: DateTimeFormat %>}")%>
But is is not working.
In c# code while debugging the folowing line
_objAccessApplication = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.Application();
it gives the following error:
System.Runtime.Interopservices.ComException(0x80080005).Retrieving the COM class Factory for component with CLSID {73A4C9C1-D68D-11D0-98BF-00A0C90DC8D9} failed due to the following error: 80080005.
The above code works fine in the development server.But in the production server it generates the error. What could be the reason for this.
An abstract high level idea of where to begin as I am totally clueless at this point.
Background:
I am setting up an intranet site (ASP .NET) where users from our local user group (who are also added in our user table) will have access to web applications they are given access to. Right now I am developing from my PC and using SQL Server 2005 Express as the database, but the final site will be hosted on an application server with IIS 6.0 and the database on an instance of SQL Server 2005. I am a .NET newbie and it's a daunting task, but the experience is worth a million dollars.
Details:
We are using Windows Athentication for our intranet site. Therefore I am not using ASP .NET's membership data sources. Rather all the user information will be stored in two tables tblEmployee (all employees in my company) and tblUser (all users of the intranet site).
tblEmployee has fields - EmployeeID, FirstName, LastName, CostCentre, Role, ManagerName, UserID
tblUser has fields - EmoployeeID, UserID, ApplicationID, AccessLevel, AddedBy, DateAdded
(I have set up these tables and I can change them any time).
What I need to accomplish - When an user goes to the intranet site, I can get his/her domain username. I need to check if this user exists in tblUser (domain username is same as UserID in tblUser). If user exists, we display all the applications he/she has access to, else display a "no access" page.
Specific questions:
What are some of the things I need to "learn"? (as I said before, I am a .NET newbie, but a fast learner too) I need to use URLAuthorizationModule for validating a page request. How do I hide the username from the URL? I was thinking along the lines of using a session ID... but then how do I know who the user is? I am sure these is a way to encrypt the UserID, just can't find it.
I want a piece of code for asp.net 3.5 using visual basic. and i am using MS access database.
I have two three text boxes and 2 image upload controls and a submit button.
I want a piece of code in which a user can upload images and store it in our database . i want an asp.net visual basic working code. also i need query behind the submit button.
I have to display data (names) in a random order on the website. The data is stored in a MS Access database. The names must be displayed in a GridView and DataList in different places. I have created a query in MS Access "zorder: Rnd([MarinaAccommodation]![ID])" which works fine in MS Access giving me a different order each time.
The problem is that when I try run it on the website the order remains the same, it does not change each time the page is loaded.
I have a situation where I am accessing a database multiple times and I'm wondering if it is necessary.
I have a GridView with a template column with a hyperlink to "Get Results" and on the RowDataBound event I have it check the batch number against the database and see if results exist and then if they don't, hide the link.
So when viewing the page if there is 20 rows in the gridview it is effectively doing 20 queries.
I was wondering if it is a better idea to query the database once with all "batches" and load it into a datatable, then on the RowDataBound event query the datatable. The only issue I see with this is there is currently 40,000 batches and grows daily.
I am using ajax html editor to write a text. I can view it without having problem but I am incapeble of storing it in a Ms Access database. which type do I need to use for this? I tried memo and OleObject type and both didn't work. I used the blow code for that.

I have a data type mismatch while inserting into a number field in an access database using a parameterized query.I think this should be pretty simple but I am still learning a lot.
[Code]....
I have some commented out as I am working one field at a time. The working fields are textboxes and the non working ones are dropdown lists. But I think it may be the field that the list is drawing from? Not sure.
I have one question here.I created a registration form using asp.net and c#.

I have a form wilh couple of Drop downs and text boxes and a Data Grid View which displays data from Access Table. When I hit add button on the form, I can see the data being added to the Grid View. But when I close the form and open the Access Database File (.mdb), the respective table is empty. The Access Table is not being updated. Second time if I open the form, the Grid View is also empty.I am pasting my code here.
