Am running asp.net web application.I need to modify the appearance of my web page..I want to bring a table that contains some labels and textbox to the centre of the page..I changed the align to centre..it is not working...i changed the padding pixels which is in default...it is also not working out...i feel CSS in not applying.

I want to make a 2nd website and am using a copy of the site files from my 1st site built for me, I added them via FTP to the hosting company. I realise when I edit the new site via the CMS it is editing both sites plus when I try to change anything to the CSS file I get the following error -
C:inetpubvhosts*****mysite******httpdocsapp_themessiteStyleSheet.css
So my questions are what do I need to change to be able to deploy a new site with the files I have to make a new site?I also don't understand where the password is coming from, I can see the User ID comes from the database. in the Asp.net connection strings are the following:
site Data Source=sql7.hostinguk.net;Initial Catalog=***;User ID=***;Password=*** - Where is this password coming from?
membership Data Source=sql7.hostinguk.net;User ID=***;Password=***;persist security info=False;initial catalog=***;
I have a Settings.cs class that exposes some Static properties. Those properties are read-only. This class reside in a seperate DLL than the website.
On the application start, I need to initialize the Settings.cs class and populate the Static properties with values. This shall be done once per Application Start.
I am hooking to the Application_Start event in the Web Application. How can I access those "private" Static properties on the Settings.cs class (residing in a separate DLL)?
I have one option which is let the Settings.cs class populate itself. But again I need to do so once per application start.
In asp.net multilingual website in english Uk and swedish, i have three rsources file
1. en-GB.resx
2. sv-SE.resx
3. Culture neutral file.
I have create one base class and all pages is inherited from that class. There i write following lines to set UICULTURE and culture
1. Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = CultureInfo.CurrentUICulture.Name;
2. Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = CultureInfo.CurrentCulture.Name;
Question: Suppose my browser language is Swedish(sv-SE) then this code will run because it find CurrentUICulture and CurrentCulture values as sv-SE.
Now if suppose browser language is Swedish(sv) only, in that case values will be set as
CurrentUICulture = sv; and CurrentCulture = sv-SE
Now the problem is that user can able to view all text in Culture neutral resource file that i kept as english while all decimal saperators, currency and other will be appear in swedish.
It looks confusing to usr.
What would be right approach. I am thinking following solution.
1. i can create extra resource file for sv also.
2. I check value of CurrentUICulture in base class and if it is sv then replace it with sv-SE
Please correct me which one is right approach or Is there any other good way of doing?
I have created .msi and .exe installer for one website. I now want to install this on Windows server 2003 with IIS 6. As the installation is on a already existing site on IIS I want the installer to remove all the exisitng files but retain the IIS settings of the already existing site(such as default document and directory security).

Nothing happens, no error, no crash, it just does not log in. Setting the privacy to medium high resolves the problem. As far as I am aware the website does not use cookies.Any idea what the problem could be? Can this be resolved to enable users to log in regardless of their privacy settings?

I have several files in my ASP.Net website project which are named correctly according to the expected pattern of *.aspx and *.aspx.cs, however, when I view them within the ASP.Net website project, they are not displayed hierarchically and are instead displayed in a flat file view adjacent to each other. How do I get the files to display hierarchically within Visual Studio as they are normally when I add a brand new .aspx page to the website project? I have been looking all over for a corresponding Visual Studio MSBuild or settings file that might be storing these hierarchical display settings but have found nothing as of yet.

We have many different clients, and each client can have multiple user accounts.Right now, we have user settings set up on the ASP project, and a WinForms application can see these settings, depending on which user logs into the winforms application. They are specific to the user. I want to make them specific to the client, so users can be in "groups" by their client, and all users in the group would see/update the same settings.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to set the appearance of a Login web control, but I'm having quite a few problems. As far as I can tell, I've set everything correctly, but for some reason control still isn't displayed correctly:
a) The width of the two TextBox controls ( with IDs UserName and Password ) should be equal to 70% of table's width, but it isn't, even though I've set their width attributes.
b) If table cells containing lblPassword and lblPassword controls have their text-align property set to center, then lblPassword and lblPassword overflow. Why is that?

I have a nested masterpage and in the childpage of the second master I have a treeview. Now I want to change appearence of the nodes in it (like the color), and I´m not able to do that. It doesn´t say anywhere if there´s a section of the css stylesheet that´s being applied.
I'm trying to chnage the appearance of asp button control. I defined a style in CSS file and in VS2005 design mode I can see the desired result however it didn't change at runtime.

After the validators were put into a table, their appearance was completely messed up. The worst is the disappearance of the background. The background has been restored by setting a default skin for all ValidatorCalloutExtenders, but now they are just simple rectangles containing the exclamation mark and the error message adjacent to the target control. The callout look is gone.

This means that it is quite hard to tell if a button is disabled or not, based on the standard changes to a disabled button. Is there any way to change the appearance of the buttons when they become disabled; changing the background color, for example? If so, how do I go about it?

When I open the modal popup,the HTMLEditor appears and I can click the button to select a color without problem.The issue comes when I scroll the page down and opens the popup again.The color selector, the list of colors that open when I click the color selector,appears in an incorrect position on the window. And if I scroll a little bit more, the list of colors will not appear anymore.The same happens with the popup when I create a link.The popup to write the link and select the target appears in strange positions.It seems that the initial position of these popups depends on the scroll of the whole page.it makes the editor useless.

I don't want to have to set font and stuff for every control in my web app.I have a basic understanding of css but i am yet to find a tutorial which will let me do what i want to do (and trust me, i've looked).I don't want anything fancy. I just want to have one single css file which i go to in order to change the appearance of everything.
to have a single css file to handle appearance for all different kinds of controls, or do you need one per control type?
I have a simple question : in the output window when you build a solution, how to change its behavior so that files with errors do not appear with their full path? I only need the file's name, not its full path.
The reason is I am using Visual Studio to build projects whose files are in very very deep folders (paths >400 characters), which messes up the output in a very annoying way...
I've found very little on developing skins for controls online. I can do everything except to know what the attributes / properties in a skin file are. I need a good resource for all attributes / properties for controls. Apart from that is it possible to do a lot more than can be achieved with css. In particular to change the appearance of the FileUpload button so that it matches all the other ImageButtons' appearances on my web page.

I've got a gridiew with I've bound data to using a linq query as a datasource.The issue I have now is that I'm not sure how i can go about adjusting the appearance of the results in the fields.For example, if I want to turn the results in field 1 into a hyperlink (per record, e.g. record 1's hyperlink would point to url "x" and record's hyperlink 2 would point to url "y") which points to a location determined by a db query based on the record's value, how can I do that?And how would I go about adding columns that aren't present in the results, like a checkbox for each record?I suppose the stumbling block for me is that when using a linq query as a datasource, I am not presented with a layout of any kind in the aspx page, unless I use a linqtoSQL datasource (Which I would rather not use as I can't use complex queries with it....can I?

I can think of two ways to control which tab is highlighted from within a user control:Have the user control implement an interface. The master page can decide which tab to highlight based on which interface is implemented, or based on a method in the interface that returns a string.In the Page_Load (or Page_Init) function, tell the master page (via FindControl or via a function in the Master Page) which control to highlight.I don't really like either of these solutions. Is there a clean way I could control which tab is highlighted from the control at design time (i.e., in the aspx file)?
I use a third party report viewer that handles viewing and printing reports. To print a report, I use their print method that takes printer settings as a parameter.
How can I get the printer settings on the client machine? Is this possible with JavaScript/AJAX, or is that a security risk?
