Question: Suppose my browser language is Swedish(sv-SE) then this code will run because it find CurrentUICulture and CurrentCulture values as sv-SE.
Now if suppose browser language is Swedish(sv) only, in that case values will be set as
CurrentUICulture = sv; and CurrentCulture = sv-SE
Now the problem is that user can able to view all text in Culture neutral resource file that i kept as english while all decimal saperators, currency and other will be appear in swedish.
It looks confusing to usr.
What would be right approach. I am thinking following solution.
1. i can create extra resource file for sv also.
2. I check value of CurrentUICulture in base class and if it is sv then replace it with sv-SE
Please correct me which one is right approach or Is there any other good way of doing?
I have some classes which can't make assumptions about de used culture. These classes should always use CultureInfo.InvariantCulture. However, I can't set the thread's current culture to CultureInfo.InvariantCulture, because other classes rely on <globalization culture="auto".
Is there a way to ensure some classes always use explicit culture method calls (like: Convert.ToDecimal(value, CultureInfo.InvariantCulture)) instead of assumed culture (like: Convert.ToDecimal(value)).Maybe my question it's not 100% clear: I'd like to detect all methods which have an overload which uses CultureInfo, but also one without the CultureInfo which uses the CurrentCulture.This includes implicit casts of numbers to string:
decimal value = 1.0; string displayThis = string.Format("Costs: {0}", value);
The goal is to make sure some classes/methods don't assume anything about CultureInfo.
I am sending in a string in dd/MM/yyyy format, which is then being parsed into lv-LV culture as set per the web.config globalization setting.I am then comparing the date to DateTime.Now to see if it is in the past.The problem is, DateTime.Parse converts my string to dd.MM.yyyy format, but DateTime.Now has MM.dd.yyyy format, so the comparison always fails.Why would DateTime.Now be different to the output from DateTime.Parse, on the same thread culture?(Update) This is the code I am using:InputText contains input from a form in DD.MM.YYYY format
DateTime date = DateTime.Parse(InputText, CultureInfo.CurrentCulture); // Check it's not in the past this.IsValid = (date.CompareTo(DateTime.Now) > 0);
[DateTime.Now] in this context is in MM.DD.YYYY format using lv-LV cultureInfo [date] is in DD.MM.YYYY format after the DateTime.Parse
I have bunch pages and I need to validate data there. If culture for example "es-ES" I should use one validation logic, if culture "en-US" than another validation logic. For example I need validate phone number. Minimum length is 11 digits. For other culture 9 digits.
I am working on an ASP.net web application, the application need to display text in English, Chinese and Japanese based on the parameters passed, however the culture settings such as currency symbol, time and number format should remain as en-US locale.
My understanding about ASP.Net localization is a package deal, am I wrong? If I am right, the only way to do this is to roll my own solution?
I am working on a multi-language web site. It is half English and half Portuguese. I have created forms that have portuguese values in it. These forms work perfectly on my desktop. I'm using Cassini as the development server. When I move them over to IIS, they are not loading properly. The text comes up all weird looking. I am declaring the culture in the page attribute: Culture="pt-BR"
I want to make a 2nd website and am using a copy of the site files from my 1st site built for me, I added them via FTP to the hosting company. I realise when I edit the new site via the CMS it is editing both sites plus when I try to change anything to the CSS file I get the following error -
So my questions are what do I need to change to be able to deploy a new site with the files I have to make a new site?I also don't understand where the password is coming from, I can see the User ID comes from the database. in the Asp.net connection strings are the following:
site Data Source=sql7.hostinguk.net;Initial Catalog=***;User ID=***;Password=*** - Where is this password coming from?
membership Data Source=sql7.hostinguk.net;User ID=***;Password=***;persist security info=False;initial catalog=***;

I have a Settings.cs class that exposes some Static properties. Those properties are read-only. This class reside in a seperate DLL than the website.
On the application start, I need to initialize the Settings.cs class and populate the Static properties with values. This shall be done once per Application Start.
I am hooking to the Application_Start event in the Web Application. How can I access those "private" Static properties on the Settings.cs class (residing in a separate DLL)?
I have one option which is let the Settings.cs class populate itself. But again I need to do so once per application start.

how can to get culture info or just culture name from the datetime string e.g i have strings like: "16/02/2008" or "23/02/2008 " can i know the culture name from the above datetime strings?
I have a scenario where I am using CalendarExtender on a page with UICulture and Culture as "en-US".
But I want to show CalendarExtender in "de-DE" culture. I know that I can set up EnableScriptGlobalization="True" EnableScriptLocalization="true" for ScriptManager and CalendarExtender will show up as per culture defined for page. But this does not work for me because I can not change page level UICulture and Culture from "en-US" to "de-DE" ( If I do so, I face double value issue. e.g. double d = 12.34; is displayed as 12,34 on UI and then its unmanagable while editing values).
So coming back to my problem, Can I just change culture for CalendarExtender so that page culture is set to "en-US" and calender is shown in some different language? I know its not something straightforward, I might need to dig up source code.
I have created .msi and .exe installer for one website. I now want to install this on Windows server 2003 with IIS 6. As the installation is on a already existing site on IIS I want the installer to remove all the exisitng files but retain the IIS settings of the already existing site(such as default document and directory security).
Got the following issue:Tried in IE7 (may be the same problem in other browsers) to log into a website programmed in asp.net 3.5 with C#. Log in fails. Nothing happens, no error, no crash, it just does not log in. Setting the privacy to medium high resolves the problem. As far as I am aware the website does not use cookies.Any idea what the problem could be? Can this be resolved to enable users to log in regardless of their privacy settings?
I have an ASP.Net website as one of the projects in a Visual Studio 2010 solution. I have several files in my ASP.Net website project which are named correctly according to the expected pattern of *.aspx and *.aspx.cs, however, when I view them within the ASP.Net website project, they are not displayed hierarchically and are instead displayed in a flat file view adjacent to each other. How do I get the files to display hierarchically within Visual Studio as they are normally when I add a brand new .aspx page to the website project? I have been looking all over for a corresponding Visual Studio MSBuild or settings file that might be storing these hierarchical display settings but have found nothing as of yet.
I wish to keep the site settings like ProductsPerpage, SiteName, MaximumFileUploads etc in web.config file I wish to add a "Change Settings" form in the web site in order to change settings. Is it a standard method to access and edit the system.config file programmatically for changing site settings? Else what should be the good approach I should follow?
I have a E-Shop Site and I need some customization for my users like following :

I have already written my application using asp.net with framework 4.0.
I created a custom clander server control basing on "System.Web.UI.WebControls.Calandar" and when i change the culture from login Screen (Ex:- Spanish) i am setting only the UI Culture in the page base class. When i had the Both "CurrentUICulture" and "CurrentCulture" set i could see the Day (Mon Tue) of the my custcalander control in the corresponding culture, but when i commented out i see them in English only (not in the corresponding culture set while loggin in. The reason why i commented out the "CurrentCulture" was that when i set this the middle tier or code behind files also running in this culture (as we are setting on the CurrentThread culture) and causing decimal data coming in this culture (Ex:- spain) and so on. So i only set the "CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture" only to corresponding culture and not the "Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture". Is there a way to acheive this, i mean How to make the Day (Ex:- Mon, Tue, Wed) in the corresponding culture with out setting "Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture"?
/// <summary> /// Current selected culture /// </summary> [code]....
We have many different clients, and each client can have multiple user accounts.Right now, we have user settings set up on the ASP project, and a WinForms application can see these settings, depending on which user logs into the winforms application. They are specific to the user. I want to make them specific to the client, so users can be in "groups" by their client, and all users in the group would see/update the same settings.
If I set Thread Culture and UICulture for one ASPX, after pass for that page, all my aspx that use the same thread(not same request) will have the same Culture?
I want to set culture info for my full application. where're i say datetime.now, it should give datetime based on my cultureinfo i set. how do i do it?
