Architecture :: Accessing Different Database Based On The Username
Dec 1, 2010
I am working on a website where when the user logs in, I select their database based on their username. Currently I have a list of all databases in the web.config and I select the Database ID from the username and then read the database string from web.config. What is the most optimal way to implement this scenario?
currently I:
- store the Database ID in the session object
- the Session object expires after like 5 minutes so i have to read the Database ID from the online database based on the username and regenerate the Session["DatabaseID"] again.
- there are some security issues with the Session ID, so I started clearing the Session in !(Page.IsPostBack) and I generate the Database string again.
Where shall I store the DatabaseID and the database connection string so I can easily reuse it once the user has logged in?
I want to show the password from database into Label,I have wright code following
SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(@"Data Source=TEGADEV1SQL2K5EXPR;Initial Catalog=mydatabase;Integrated Security=True;Pooling=False"); SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("select password from reg where username='" + username + "'", con);
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@username", username); SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter(cmd); DataTable dt = new DataTable(); da.Fill(dt);
Lable.Text=......
I have use datatable how to read data from above code what will be the code wright Lable.Text=...
I need to make a webservice in .net (I know how this works) but then I need to get data out of a database. But my company wants to make it in a way that you can use the system with multiple databases.
So my option was make multiple abstract classes which contains the folowing code (depending on the database type, this would be a SQL database)
I am attempting to convert an online game i have written in ASP into ASP.NET,, but I am failing at a very early and probably a very amateurish stage.
I am using a Sample ASPX project. There is an ASPNETDB database included, when i register my username is added to the DB along with a userID and various other fields. This is stored in a table called aspnet_Users.
I have created a new table called tblClubs, which stores information such as ClubName, StadiumCapacity etc I added a field called 'Owner' and this is directly related to the UserName field in the aspnet_Users table
What I am trying to solve is to show user specific information from the database, based on their LoginID.
i.e
My username is Laclerque and my club is called Racing Mongoose, the stadium capacity is 9500.. the information for each User needs to be different and just show the information that is relevant to them.
obviously in the longer term, there is going to be 100's of these associations required for the full game, but not until i can get my head around the basics of how to set this information. I tend to work better when i can see a working sample, and then adapt things to suit my needs.
I have a requirement related to subdomains. Here are the details.I am using .NET 4.0, IIS7, ASP.NET 4.0. I have an web application hosted as "mycompany.com". I have some clients, say client1, register at my site. I want to give him a
was giving a though on using ajax enabled wcf services as part of architecturegenerally wht im usingis UI-> BL-> data accessis it suggestable to use wcf services layer insteadof BLnd hv UI-> services-> data accessrelated to asp.netwould like to no pro's and con's of doing this thing.
Currently I am storing my username and password (passwordFormat="SHA1") credientails in my web.config. I would like to figure out how to access them in an xml file that I have stored in my App_Data directory rather than the web.config file because I do not want my application restarting everytime I manually add a user (small list of 5 authorized users for the CMS section).
1. I want to use membership functionality without username/password
instead I want to use this functionality based on tracked IP's. Is it possible
Is it a good idea? I want to use my application on all famous mobile platforms and desktops mac/win
2. Is it hard (or is it good idea) to have user info stored into database for specific amount of time based on IP instead of persistent cookies? (I mean user can close browser, etc. Usually this time will be 1 hour)
I am looking for a way to integrate a web application with a client application that will sit on the users desktop. Our scenario looks like this user will click a link in the client server application that will launch an .ASPX and pass various parameters via a querystring. User will make form inputs on ASPX page and on that input, I need to be able to execute a .EXE on the client machine that will refresh the window in the client server application.
I have looked at some tutorials for using ActiveX for this, but they all seem out of date and the ones that I have been able run prompt the user with the Activex warning dialog, which I would like to avoid.
This may be very simple but I can not figure it out. I am using ASP.Net 3.5/Visual Studio 2010. I have placed a LoginName Control on the page and the login name is properly displaying. I am using forms Authentication and it is set up properly in the web config file. I simply want to insert the logged in username value into the database table so I can track who created the records. I am happy to be able to insert the UserID value. I assume the values are derived out of the aspnet_Users table. Hopefully someone can provide a way to do either. I am not a coder so giving me a quick try this answer won't help me much. I would need to really see the entire solution and code.
How do each company select customer orders by company username and customerid . The application will be used by many companies for sales, but o don't know How each company can select their customer orders by customerid and company username.
we have an web site access on PRODTEST Environment . We are facing an issue site works fine when we try to access the site using the Individual Server names (with Ip address).
I've created 2 multi dimensional arrays (2 dimensions each), I want to feed them both into a function, and I would like the function to spit out an array or list containing both of them as arrays, so I can use them as they were before they went into the function.
The way I've done it at the moment is probably very inifficient and I'm having trouble accessing it properly.
What follows is my attempt to put the 2 arrays (attackerarmy and defenderarmy) into a new array called armyresults and adding an additional dimension to tell me if the record belongs to the attacker or defender:
[Code]....
Since I've already got the 2 arrays I want in the function, I've rather not inefficiently force them into a new array, only to try to re build them again when they come out of the function.
how to out 2 arrays of unknown size into an array of arrays for the return statement of my function, and then how I can access those individual arrays so I can easily copy them back out into their original form?
i am going to develop a web based application with c# but i am very upset that how to design a good pattern how to code to let the program more efficient.
1. Can you explain me what is component based development ? What I am already doing is using layers (user interface, custom types, data access layer and busines logic layer). For example for filling a drop down list with countries what I do is getting data from DAL using custom types in my BLL and BLL return a list of countries to user interface. Now in my opinion it is a plug-able component that I can use anywhere. Should it be called a component ?
2. What is a component a method ? or class or a assambly ?
3. Can components be like that (methods and assemblies) or they are services to embed ?
4. Actually I never have used services, if component can be in both ways (services & classes and assemblies) than what approach is better, should component be made in form of assemblies or services ?
5. Without being so technical any general rules on making re-usable components ?
i just want to make sure that i am folling the correct pattern and following the right practice and i have read the book (Wrox.Professional.Enterprise.dot.NET) and based on that book here is what i come-up with my design.
We have one new project to implement. Let me explain briefly about this project. This project is related showing chart to end user on the basis of different mathematical calculated formulas.
End user has authority to change these formulas on the fly and on the basis of that changed formula we need to show the chart. So this is all central idea about the project. These charts which I mentioned above are very complicated and user friendly
So can any buddy tell me which is best suitable architecture for this and how can fit her to my scenario .I knows, three tier architecture and some other are there but I want know which is the best architectures that developed above idea in right way
I need to implement field level security based on the roles. I have a page Employee.aspx . In that i have ten controls. If i am enter as admin role i need to show all the controls. If i am enter as user have to show only five controls. How to design the appplication for control level security?
I am beginner in asp.net / vb.net and I developed a web application for inventory management. here I have my insertion procedure that I entered in my code behind all the different page of my application. My problem is the following:
* I would like to put my procedure in a class that I will call on my different page * how to create this class * how to call this class on my pages
here is my procedure:
