What I would like to do is create an .svc file that can be placed into a web directory on IIS and accessed (and executed) via its URL, without having to install any other files and without changing any configuration files.I am investigating a possible security problem in a web application that allows uploading .svc files. If it is possible to upload and then execute an .svc file, this would be a big security problem for this application. Unfortunately I am not a .NET developer, so I am probably missing a lot of things here.I know that it is possible to put the service interface and implementation straight into the the .svc file after the "Service Host" directive. Here is my .svc file:

Now when I access http://localhost/test1.svc I get an exception from .NET: Service 'EchoService' has zero application (non-infrastructure) endpoints. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no service element matching the service name could be found in the configuration file, or because no endpoints were defined in the service element. I understand that normally you are supposed to configure web service end points in web.config or app.config file. From some Googling I have also learned that it is possible to configure endpoints programmatically by defining your own ServiceHost and ServiceCodeFactory. I have found some examples, but couldn't get them working.I would really appreciate if somebody can either tell me "No, what you are trying to do is impossible, because..." or show how I can add the necessary code to the example above to have an executable service.
Update: using Josh's suggestion I finally got it working. See my answer below for the working code.

I have a page that downloads a dataset and streams the output to an Excel file by modifying the response headers.
I want to write an AJAX call on the client side that can display a modaldialog while the file is being generated and dismiss the modaldialog when the file has been fully rendered.
I can turn the dalog on when the user clicks a link, but for some reason my pages return readystate 4 and status 200 prematurely. (These are the codes that say the page is done)
Because this is happening, either the modal dialog is dismissed immediately or I need the user to dismiss it.
Has anyone seen this before? Is this an issue with streaming a file instead of hitting a physical page?
Does anyone have a work-around, or will I need to have the user manually dismiss the dialog?
I have a service. I have an existing class of business objects. What I would like to know is how can I pass a class through WCF from the business object assembly without having to create a new class in my WCF site while appending or tags?

I need to update a field on this system using their web service, the data I need to update is a long(110000 chars) string.
so when I invoke the update method, the data gets updated but it is truncated. I have pasted my web config setting below. So is there a limitation which I do not know?

I'm looking into building an ASP.NET MVC application that exposes (other than the usual HTML pages) JSON and XML REST services, as well as Web Sockets. In a perfect world, I would be able to use the same URLs for the Web Sockets interface as I do for the other services (and determine which data to return by what the user agent requests) but, knowing that IIS wasn't built for persistent connections, I need to know if there's a way that I can accept (and possibly even handshake) the Web Sockets connection and then pass the connection off to another service running on the server. I do have a workaround in mind if this isn't possible that basically involves using ASP.NET to check for the Web Sockets connection upgrade headers, and responding with a HTTP/1.1 302 Found that points to a different host that has my Web Sockets service configured to directly listen to the appopriate endpoint(s).

I can add references to this service as to WCF service, as to WebService.WcfTestClient application successfully recognized service and its methods.
But "Web Service Studio" [URL] can't get a list of operations... Why? How to diagnose/resolve that?

When I deploy this application to my staging server and test it, it's looking for the files on the staging server...not my local computer.
I have an array which contains around 50-200 hyperlinks. How can I pass this array to the client-side so that I can iterate through the array and display each hyperlinks as a list item?
The array will be stored in 'Application' as it's system wide and rarely changes. Could there be a more efficient way of achieving the hyperlinks as a list?
In the web servce I say

WHY IS IT AN ARRAY? I asked for a List.
I need to pass a random number from 1 to 100 from the client to a webservice, and then the webservice will subtract this number from the list of 100 numbers (say 1-100). Then, in the next call, the next random number will be subtracted from the rest 99 numbers and so on.
I need this to be done with AJAX. I don't know where the Array list should be held in the first place (would it be in the web service or in the code behind? ), and how this can be done?
A sample web service app I have been practicing with has two web methods:
1) HelloWorld -- which I can read the data from no problem - just a string
2) ClientData[] -- which returns an array of struct objects -- this is where I have the question.

Currently my iframe source site is configured for ntlm authentication and sso which means it would read my windows credentials whereas I'd need it reads the credentials provided by the site which hosts that iframe.
I need to know what would be the best choice of array to use given the following specifications. This array's size will be predermined upon the loading of the appication. All I want to do is be able to add values to this array and replace preexisting array items with new values without the array changing size. Someone suggested that I use a Dictionary Array Object? For example : When Guest browse www.abc.com, i write a cookie that its name BrowseTime.
