Configuration :: A Connection Attempt Failed Because The Connected Party Did Not Properly Respond After A Period?
Mar 23, 2010
I have an application written in VB.NET that sends XML to another server and it takes another XML. I am using HttpWebRequest in sending it but when I get the request stream I got this error. Please note that the application is working on my machine, but on the deployment on server I got this error.
using System; using System.Collections; using System.Configuration; using System.Data; using System.Linq;
[code]...

Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.Exception Details: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 74.125.155.109:465Source Error:
I got server error when downloading pdf file from my webpage in asp.net."A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond in asp.net."
I got an error "A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond".when i am sending email when attachment.

I'm having a doozy of a problem, and can't find a solution. I have a WFC Web Service installed to a pair of servers, and accessed through a load balancer. I am accessing the service from an ASP.NET client app, also via WCF. The Client is not load balanced.I'm getting an intermittant error:
(Inner Most Exception) System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond x.x.x.x:80(Middle Exception) System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server(Outer Exception) System.ServiceModel.EndpointNotFoundException: Could not connect to http://<MYSite>/<MYApp>/<MYService>.svc.TCP error code 10060: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond x.x.x.x:80.
I can reproduce this error with about 20% reliability if I execute the exact same page request on the client from 2 browsers at the same time. When the problem occurs, the successful page request returns in about 5 seconds, and the failed page request returns in about 30 seconds.I'm guessing that there is some additional latency when the load balancer decides to switch my session to another server, and that is making some timeout setting on my client to be exceeded. I need to research this performance characteristic... any thoughtsbut its not my core question.My core question is... Exactly what setting can I tweak to increase the "period of time" the "connected party" is allows to "properly respond".This is the basicHttpBinding configuration I am using on both sides of the communication:
I've seen some indication that setting the receiveTimeout value on the server may help, but I set this to 1 second in a test environment, and was unable to reproduce the problem, leads me to believe its not worth a production environment change to verify this.
I'm using SQL 2005 for my current project. My remote hosting server uses port number 4433 for my database. So my connection string is as follows data source=IPaddress,4433;initial catalog=mydb;UID=sand;PWD=sand45; But when connecting from my local machine from .NET or from SQL Management Studion it creates an error A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.(provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
I am using the codes sample from Peter through this link:http://www.eggheadcafe.com/articles/20030316.asp to validate email address. I made some minor modification to validate user email address after the user have entered his or her email address as show below
string[] host = (address.Split('@')); string hostname = host[1]; IPHostEntry IPhst = Dns.Resolve(hostname); IPEndPoint endPt = new IPEndPoint(IPhst.AddressList[0], 25); Socket s = new Socket(endPt.AddressFamily,SocketType.Stream, ProtocolType.Tcp); s.Connect(endPt);
The last line of code s.Connect(endPt) generated the following error if the user email address is anything other than the company email address. I have try gmail, hotmail and they all generated the same error. Can the experts tell me how to get around the problem.

In Visual Studio 2005 I am following the steps to add a Web Reference to a web service.hings appear to go smoothly except for an error messae I am getting. Here are thesteps I follow along with the result.1. Right click on Web References folder and select "Add Web Reference..."2. When the dialog box appears I add the web service URL into the URL dialog box.The web service methods are then displayed in the dialog box with the links to each web service and a prompt to "Start Browsing for Web Service"However in the box to the right which is labeled "Web services found at this URL", there is an error messagewhich reads:There was an error downloading 'https://stage-serv/weatherQuote/WebService/weatherQuote.asmx
The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on asend.Authentication failed because the remote party has closed the transport stream.I don't know what is causing this problem. I can reference this same web service on a productionserver just fine, but if I attempt to access it on the stagig server I get the message Ijust talked about.I am thinking that something is not configured on the staging server correctly.
I have the problem of Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached.
i have a machine that i use as a server, the machine is running Windows 7 and IIS 7. I am using Windows Xp and my browswe is IE8.In my application i use Infragistics menu controls. The menu freezes, and they dont respond or calloapse. I have tried the Compatibility mode but it still does that.
I'm getting the following error after uploading my site on live server:Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached.i'm using the following code:
public static IQueryable<Property> Properties(string name, string city, string state, int pageIndex, int pageSize, ref int total) { ServerDataContext server = new ServerDataContext(); total = server.Properties.Count(x => x.Name.StartsWith(name) && x.City.StartsWith(city) && x.State.Contains(state)); return server.Properties.Where(x => x.Name.StartsWith(name) && x.City.StartsWith(city) && x.State.Contains(state)).Skip(pageIndex * pageSize - pageSize).Take(pageSize); }
I installed VS 2010 on XP machine with IIS working good. after the installation the IIS stoped answering when yrying to get to web pages in my server from othere IP's in the network
I was just after some help to put the following code into a loop. I have 6 div's with id's ImgDetails1 - ImgDetails6 and 6 buttons with id's 1 - 6
if 1 is pushed it should hide the other divs but ensure div1 is shown. the same applies for every other div.
I can do this the long way writing logic for each div but I am not the best with js and have failed at each attempt to put the code in a 1 - 6 loop to hide all divs except the one selected and make sure that is shown.
I need to create an application with Forms Authentication and/or Windows Authentication. If the application is set to use mixed authentication (Forms + Windows Auth) and the user don't have a Windows user account, the login will fail and he must be redirected to a forms login page. How can I do this?
Are there any different way to provide mixed authentication?
I am getting asp.net development server error.Though I have formatted my machine and there is no virus in the machine still I am not able to run asp.net in file system and could not work with asp.net website administration tool. some memery related error message such as:The application failed to initialize properly(0xc000007b)click to terminate application. Pls give me proper solution for this.I have tried to copy fresh webserver.exe file from another machine and pasted in c:programmfilescoomomfilesmicrosoftshareddevserver9.0webdev.webserver.exe file.still issue persists.what could be wrong.
I have a very serious issue with my ASP.Net server when referencing (indirectly, it's a dependence of a referenced assembly) some third-party assembly.When I connect to the server I obtain this exception :
[Code]....
When I remove the assembly from the "bin" directory the site is accessible and works normally.So what might be the issue and how to get rid of this exception ?I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Professional.
I'm trying to make sure a block of code behind properly closes a connection to SQL after it's finished. But when I add the line "cmd.Connection.Close();" Visual Studio underlines "cmd" in green and says "unreachable code detected" What does that mean and how do I correct it?
I was testing out my custom error handling specifically around 404s when I came across an intersting problem, which I recreated on a new web application.
Create web application Create a global.asax file Create a new web form - error.aspx - "This is the error page text"
This morning I found myself dealing with A SQL POOLING ERROR Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached. I did fix this with resetting my pooling and setting a pooling max =100 Anyway now Im starting to rethink how I open connections, dealing with errors and proper closing of connections Would you say this code below is a good way of opening, closing connections (even when errors occurred)
Dim Connection As SqlConnection Dim myConn As String = (ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("MyConnString").ConnectionString) Connection = New SqlConnection(myConn) Try Dim DBCommand As SqlCommand Dim dt As New DataTable() Dim myDataSet As New DataSet Connection.Open() DBCommand = New SqlCommand("GetAllCategories_", Connection) DBCommand.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure DBCommand.Parameters.Add("@HomePageID", SqlDbType.Int).Value = HiddenChosenVirtualMainID.Value Dim mySqlAdapter As New SqlDataAdapter(DBCommand) mySqlAdapter.Fill(dt) SecondLevelChildDatalist.DataSource = dt SecondLevelChildDatalist.DataBind() Catch ex As Exception 'Error goes here SqlConnection.ClearAllPools() Finally 'close the connction Connection.Close() Connection.Dispose() End Try
I got a simple SQL Connection which works fine under VS 2005, once I convert to VS 2008, is failed to work. I even re-build entire apps from scratch under VS 2008, yet it still failed.
Here's the code.
[Code]....
The code failed at this line:
objCon = New SqlConnection()
Error message being:
The type initializer for 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection' threw an exception.
My application is running fine locally when I deploy it it is giving me the above error saying
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
