Configuration :: Multiple Sites Hosted At A Hosting Company That Does Not Support Domain Pointing?
Dec 26, 2010
I have multiple sites hosted at a hosting company that does not support domain pointing. Right now I have all of my domains go to the root directory and Response.Redirect() to a sub-directory which leaves me with mydomain.com/subdir/. Is there a way to make my own pointer to eliminate the /subdir/ portion of the URL?
I have three asp.net 2.0 websites running on the same host server and recently upgraded to 3.5. After making changes necessary in the root web.config all sites run, but I've lost the stylesheet for the primary site.
Before the upgrade I had the following in the root web.config
<pages styleSheetTheme="Red" />
I got errors on this line because the upgraded web.config had another <pages> section. I tried adding the stylesheetTheme='Red" to that section and the primary website ran and looked right, but the subs got an error that there was no StyleSheetTheme="Red".
Each site has it's own stylesheets. How can I restore the stylesheettheme to the primary site without putting it in the root webconfig? Or, is there another way to handle this?
i have database that is stored on local.user should also be able to upload the database to online server . i am able to save it on local .But it is not saving on server. It shows request time out. Is it due to server not allowing external access.
We have an application that is currently required to be accessed using two authentication schemes, Forms Auth and Active Directory or NTLM / Windows Auth. The way the application is now, there are two IIS sites pointing to different folders with the same set of files, everything identical except the web.config.Before anyone flames me this was an inherited application, but nevertheless one I am now responsible for. We have an opportunity to do some refactoring and I'm trying to figure out the best way to proceed.
I need to create asp.net website. Its ok. How to host a website with domain name which can be accessed in net by every one. I need a domain name which is free of cost and easily created from my computer.
I have a custom ASP.NET application that I utilize for several clients that I host. Each client has a separate domain and the application is normally a child application under the root domain [URL]. The application files are the same (aspx, ascx, style sheets, images, etc.). The only thing different is the web.config file for each client. As development of the application continues to evolve, I have to update the application for each directory and this obviously becoming tedious. I am trying to come up with a method keep the application up to date. My first though is placing the application into a single physical path and creating multiple applications pointing to that path (the problem with this method is I can't have different web.config files). I am curious as to what solution others are using in this scenario...
I have two domain servers X and Y.My Asp.net Web application is hosted on Domain X.But my scope is required to authorize the user of Domain Y on the Web application hosted on Domain X server.I am using Windows Authetication mode in application
1.) What is the name of the OS process in which App Domain resides.
2.)if suppose There are Three Windows application hosted on a same envoirment and two instance is working for each application at a Time, means now total instance are six .what will happen among the below written cases :
a.) There will be six different app domain in a single OS process
b.) There will three app domain(one for each application) in a single OS process and some Parallel thread will be executed in each app domain for another instance.
c.) There will be Three OS process corresponding to each application.
3.) If eveything will remain same except there are three web application in place of windows in point 2, will there be any change in functioning.
I have tried with your pice of code(Published date : sep 16, 2012) to send multiple attachments in asp.net. On my local machine it is working perfectly. When I host my application on server, mail contains attachment(Single or multiple both) is not sending. Attachment and remove files for attachments are working properly but attachment mail is not sending on server.
So I developed a web application in ASP.NET and SQL Server 2008. Part of the SQL code I implemented as a .NET assembly (instead of t-sql) because it is performing intense calculations that are better written in C#.
Now I am ready to deploy my application, but I am stuck looking for a hosting company that allows this. Scratch out Discount ASP (see this forum post). I tried emailing other hosting companies and I either get no reply or they say they will not support it.
Any recommendations? What's the big deal with having CLR enabled in SQL Server?
I just upgraded to windows 4G hosting from old windows hosting on Godaddy. I have hosted multiple websites on this hosting account. The primary domain website [URL] is working fine after the upgrade but all other sites hosted in same account report some errors.
tag to stop other child web.config to inherit anything from parent.
I use asp.net to code my websites. Before 4G upgrade everything used to work like a charm. Has anybody else also experiences the same issues? If yes, what are the changes that we need to make to support multiple web sites in same 4G hosting account?
I'm using membership that created by asp.net configuration when you create users with roles when you create a user for your website using asp.net configuration in Visual Studio
After uploading my project and creating the Database, I can't login using the users that i have created, i'm 100% sure im using the right username and password but still can't login but they are working 100% in my local DB
after few search in google i found the solution is to execute the following command:
How do we reference different domains from single hosting account. At present i have put files related to different domains in their respective folders and named them accordingly with index.htm in each folder.
how do we connect different domains to the related folders.
using asp.net and c#is there any way to point different domains to single hosting account programatically using asp.net and c#
We are having a project which is for various online application systems for an educational institute. (Asp.Net 2.0 Web Site)
initially we developed all applications in single project with proper folder structure. but now we want to make each application as separate product.
all applications share single authentication(Obviusly this is single project) want to keep that way only.
I want to split project in smaller projects but want to keep shared authentication so how should i orgnise this project in IDE.
Also i need guidence on hosting such project
i should make small projects within single solution file. and at the time of publish amke single virtual directory to host the root project(login.aspx etc) and in subdirectories i should host other projects. so this way SSO(single sign on) across applications is possible ..
I want to create several websites on my domain, and I am wondering how to go about this in MVC? Should I put them all within one project, and create separate folders in each Views, Models and Controllers folder for each site, or would it be better to create a separate project for each site, although I'm not sure how I would integrate
I need large file upload support in my hosted (godaddy) medium trust asp.net app.It obviously needs to be responsive with indication of progress, so handling the stream myself is important. This all seems pretty simple and works well when in full trust:
1.Write an HttpModule that listens for file uploads.
2.Get the HttpWorkerRequest object from the Context using reflection.
3.Write out stream to a FileStream
All very well and good except that I keep getting permission exceptions when trying to get the HttpWorkerRequest object from the context in medium trust. Whether I use reflection or I use System.IServiceProvider.GetService() to get the object (which is clearly using reflection), I get the same error.
I have also tried using System.Web.HttpPostedFile. It has a property InputStream. But it seems this object is uploading the entire file on initialization, so no good.I have googled myself tired, and can't find another alternative.
Even if it is a security risk to let users have the HttpWorkerRequest object, surely the framework provides another way to handle the stream of files when Method="POST" and enctype="multipart/form-data"
I have two sites: a site written in vb (site 1), a site written in C # (Site 2). Site 1 running on a primary domain, eg http://abc.com. site 2 run as sub domain, eg http://site2.abc.com.Now I do not want to run the site 2 as a sub domain 2 again, which would put it in a folder of the site 1, for //abc.com/site2/Default.aspx.So now we have to configure in a site how to run the site 2.
I have two different web sites in Intranet zone. They are placed in one domain (like http://site1 and http://site2.site1). They use Windows Authentication for common domain (like mycorpUser1, mycorpUser2, mycorpUser3).First web site(http://site1) have iframe element with hyperlink to second web site(http://site2.site1). When user loads first web site he needs write login and password twice. How to make that http://site1 and http://site2.site1 ask authentication only once?
