Session state can only be used when enableSessionState is set to true, either in a configuration file or in the Page directive. make sure that System.Web.SessionStateModule or a custom session state module is included in the <configuration><system.web><httpModules> section in the application configuration.
I would like to understand if it is possible to convert a windows application project written in vb.net into an ASP.net website. I'm editing the code of a project, and I want to integrate the code into my WEBSITE written in vb.net I have a solution which when I open, it contains a class library and a windows application. There are only 3 files viewable under each of two folders. The folder Charlotte with Myproject, Assemblyinfo.vb and Charlotte.vb and the folder TestCharlotte with Myproject, AssemblyInfo.vb and frmTest.vb. How do I go about taking this thing and integrating the pages into my website application? WHen I look in the folders on my hard drive, I can see other things including a bin folder and an object folder.

View 2 RepliesI need to migrate a ASP.NET application from 1.1 to 3.5. I have gone through the answers on this forum already, but still have some questions
should I convert the application from 1.1 to 3.5 directly? OR convert it to 2.0 first and then to 3.5 and the reasons for doing so.Is there any article that walks through the whole conversion process from 1.1 to 3.5 with solutions for any typical issues encountered during the conversion process?Is it possible to convert a ASP.NET 1.1 project to ASP.NET 2.0 using VS2008 OR do I need to use VS2005 IDE for doing so?

As you can see, it pretty straightforward, although I do have some minor validation code in my aspx page. how can I convert this project into a MVC pattern?

I am unable to register my control from another project in my current project. I have a commoncontrols project and a controlpanel project now how can i get the usercontrols from the commoncontrols project?
The controlname is ucReg.ascx.
My website uses a single project solution. Each web page file consists of C# code along with the markup. I now have to separate the code from each page into code-behind files that must be combined with many different versions of the markup. I assume this means that I will need a solution with a common project of code-behind files that is merged with a project of each version of the markup files in order to create different websites. I need to know how to organize the solution for debugging and building each website and where to place each file.

View 6 RepliesI have a Visual Studio 2003 web service project that I have to upgrade to Visual Studio 2008. After I have run the conversion wizard, I get this message: You have completed the first step in converting your Visual Studio .NET 2003 web project. To complete the conversion, please select your projectin the Solution Explorer and choose the 'Convert to Web Application'context menu item.I got this message with another project, which was originally a "web site", rather than an ASP.NET "web application". It made sense to in that case (sort of). Why, however, would I not just want to have this project remain a web service project?Additionally, when I follow the instructions and select "Convert to Web Application" from the context menu, I don't get any feedback that anything has changed. Should it have?
View 1 RepliesWhen I turn on Code Coverage in my test settings, on a project that references the Unity DI container I get the following error:
Cannot initialize the ASP.NET project'{Project Name}'.
The event log specifies the following reason:
Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Practices.Unity, Version=2.0.414.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. Strong name signature could not be verified.
My development environment: VS2010, win7. My regular solution setup for authoring a custom control is a Website project which I use for testing purposes and an ASP.NET server control project which is the actual control. Sometimes when I make changes to the custom control project and rebuild the solution the changes I made to the custom control are not shown/implemented when control is used in my testing project so I MUST close the solution and reopen it in order for my changes to appear.

View 6 RepliesI have a project that I developed in VS2005 and that has been put into VSS. I am trying to "get" it on a new machine and convert it to VS2008 because that is what is installed on the new machine. I am having problems with it that I think originate in its working folder. So my basic question is, when you try to work with a solution that's in VSS should you maintain the same folder structure that it had when it was originally checked in? I'm not particularly happy with its original structure because it goes on and on seven levels deep, and I wanted to just cut it down to C:ProjectsResNew, but if that's what it takes to get it to work, I'll do it.

I have created a user control and am ready to convert it into a custom control. I am trying to follow:

I am not seeing Build / Publish Web Site option.
I am using VS 2008. I only see Publish User Control but it doesn't give all the settings mentioned below. When I do publish user control, it just copies the ascx file to the desired location. how can I convert the user control to custom control.

I am making a form that contains a lot of User Controls, each User Control is part of the form (contains TextBox, ComboBox etc). User will use the form to update their information. At end of submission, I need to display the original data and the data that the user have entered. I wonder if is possible that I can replace the input control (TextBox etc) to Label? So I can just simply use the same user control, then convert each of the input control to label to display the data... (I just don't really want to use readonly or disable) Note: I used different dataset to map each of the User Control data. What I was thinking to do is like to get the input control from Page.Controls:
aInputControl = new Label();
or...
Page.Controls.Remove(aInputControl);
Then somehow add new Label in same position in the page. But I have no idea how...can't think of anything except add another div to surround each of the control. I just wonder if it this is possible...
Seems like making new user control is not a good way for me. I will just try to somehow map each original data and new data into a new User control, and write them into page.
