View 2 RepliesI would like to monitor the entire project through the clicks. For example if i open a new page and clicking any control it should get monitored like ( User x clicked this many events on this page )
View 1 RepliesThis is one thing that's long driven me nuts. Sometimes I want to search the entire project for some string, and about a billion matches occur in JavaScript files, making the search unusable. Is there a way to specify file types to include in the search?
View 2 RepliesThe project converts fine, but I'm getting this error and i've done both. Project worked fine in 1.1. Anywhere else I can look?
Session state can only be used when enableSessionState is set to true, either in a configuration file or in the Page directive. make sure that System.Web.SessionStateModule or a custom session state module is included in the <configuration><system.web><httpModules> section in the application configuration.
I would like to understand if it is possible to convert a windows application project written in vb.net into an ASP.net website. I'm editing the code of a project, and I want to integrate the code into my WEBSITE written in vb.net I have a solution which when I open, it contains a class library and a windows application. There are only 3 files viewable under each of two folders. The folder Charlotte with Myproject, Assemblyinfo.vb and Charlotte.vb and the folder TestCharlotte with Myproject, AssemblyInfo.vb and frmTest.vb. How do I go about taking this thing and integrating the pages into my website application? WHen I look in the folders on my hard drive, I can see other things including a bin folder and an object folder.

View 2 RepliesI need to migrate a ASP.NET application from 1.1 to 3.5. I have gone through the answers on this forum already, but still have some questions
should I convert the application from 1.1 to 3.5 directly? OR convert it to 2.0 first and then to 3.5 and the reasons for doing so.Is there any article that walks through the whole conversion process from 1.1 to 3.5 with solutions for any typical issues encountered during the conversion process? Is it possible to convert a ASP.NET 1.1 project to ASP.NET 2.0 using VS2008 OR do I need to use VS2005 IDE for doing so?

View 2 RepliesI created a ASP.NET project which calls a DAL class I wrote, to retrieve data to display on the page, most of the heavy lifting is in the DAL class. As you can see, it pretty straightforward, although I do have some minor validation code in my aspx page. how can I convert this project into a MVC pattern?

My website uses a single project solution. Each web page file consists of C# code along with the markup. I now have to separate the code from each page into code-behind files that must be combined with many different versions of the markup. I assume this means that I will need a solution with a common project of code-behind files that is merged with a project of each version of the markup files in order to create different websites. I need to know how to organize the solution for debugging and building each website and where to place each file.

View 6 RepliesI have a Visual Studio 2003 web service project that I have to upgrade to Visual Studio 2008. After I have run the conversion wizard, I get this message: You have completed the first step in converting your Visual Studio .NET 2003 web project. To complete the conversion, please select your projectin the Solution Explorer and choose the 'Convert to Web Application'context menu item.I got this message with another project, which was originally a "web site", rather than an ASP.NET "web application". It made sense to in that case (sort of). Why, however, would I not just want to have this project remain a web service project?Additionally, when I follow the instructions and select "Convert to Web Application" from the context menu, I don't get any feedback that anything has changed. Should it have?
View 1 RepliesWhen I turn on Code Coverage in my test settings, on a project that references the Unity DI container I get the following error:
Cannot initialize the ASP.NET project'{Project Name}'.
The event log specifies the following reason:
Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Practices.Unity, Version=2.0.414.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. Strong name signature could not be verified.
I have a project that I developed in VS2005 and that has been put into VSS. I am trying to "get" it on a new machine and convert it to VS2008 because that is what is installed on the new machine. I am having problems with it that I think originate in its working folder. So my basic question is, when you try to work with a solution that's in VSS should you maintain the same folder structure that it had when it was originally checked in? I'm not particularly happy with its original structure because it goes on and on seven levels deep, and I wanted to just cut it down to C:ProjectsResNew, but if that's what it takes to get it to work, I'll do it.
View 10 RepliesI want to wipe a subdomain off the face of the internet.
So any page in the sitemap I want it to 301 redirect over to the homepage of the main www site...
Can that be done? I tried setting the re-direct in IIS, but it only worked if I hit the homepage (the subpages all 404d)
Inside my XSLT that is transfomign a order XML, I want to dump the entire XML I am currently working with.
Is this possible? I am weaving some HTML based on XML, and want to dump the entire XML into a textarea.
I've built a complex site for a client, who wants this duplicated, and re-skinned, so it can be used for other means. What is the best way of doing this? I'm concerned about copying every file as this means any bugs must be fixed twice, and any improvements must be implmented twice.
View 6 RepliesWe have my hosting company installed SSL at the "root" of our web site. I tried to force https:// to my web site and encounter warning below from IE. If user click yes, then IE messup all Jquery tabs of my web sites.. If user anser No then things work OK.
Chrome browser works OK without this type of warning. It would be "undesiable" to force user to "edit" their IE's Internet option to get around this IE warning because several users and not "computer/internet savy" to know what to do.
Is there a way that I can implement SSL for my entire site www.mydomain.com for example and avoid this warning below? I guess that I have a couple of links to point to facebook/Twitter and IE complain about it.
This webpage contains content that will not be deliverred using a secured HTTPS connection which could compromise the security of the entire web page?
I am working on a project where I have a form to create a new user. In that form we have a dropdown list that is populated from another table called ElectricCompanies. The Users table and ElectricCompanies tables are related (each User can only have one electric company, but electric companies can have multiple users). I am having trouble getting the Electric Company object to pass into the Users table. The Users table wants it to be passed as a object of the table ElectricCompanies, but right now it only passes the ID.
This is the code from the UserController under the Edit that I used to populate the ElectricCompany dropdown list:
Dim eleccomp = (From p
In _DB.ElectricCompanySet Select p)
ViewData("ElecComp") = New SelectList(eleccomp,
"ID", "Name")
Is there a way to pass an entire object rather than just the ID?
I have an ASP:Table that has one row in by default. I would like to give the user the ability to, by clicking a button, add the same row again to enable more data entry. The end result being that I can commit the data in the rows to a SQL database.
My Table Code
<asp:Table ID="Table1" runat="server" Height="50%" Width="100%">
<asp:TableHeaderRow CssClass="lblrow2" HorizontalAlign="Left" BackColor="AliceBlue">
<asp:TableHeaderCell ID="haccountref">Account Ref:</asp:TableHeaderCell>
<asp:TableHeaderCell ID="hproduct">Product</asp:TableHeaderCell>
[Code]....
The question here is how would I achieve this properly and will I then be able to send the data as separate rows to SQL?
I have downloaded a project from the internet called the SMS Source example. I wanted to open this project in VS2010, so a conversion wizard has popped up prompting for the conversion. But it has errors in converting.
Error msg:

On the Timelog page, I want to put 2 dropdown list: 1 Manufacturing Project, 1 Engineer Project. However, users can choose either Manufacturing project dropdown or Engineer project dropdown (not both).
