I have uploaded a excelsheet to datatable and that datatable is bound to gridview.there is a save button present,i want to click the save button and all the gridview data will save in database.but that gridview has no boundfield or templatefield.

For example datatable has 3 column A,B,C I want to rename it 1,2,3.
I don't want to hardcord it.. Can it be done if I mention somewhere what column to replace with which one and done thru loop.

I have a gridview with Edit and delete lini on it. I want to change the text of "delete".
I don't want to use link button because I have already implemented the code and its working fine. I just want to rename the "delete" text on grid view.
I am having gridview and i have check box for each row. There are 2 buttons ,accept and reject outside the gridview. If I click accept button, all the checked rows fields value should change to accept and if i click reject button all the checked rows column value should change to reject. There are 3 columns only one column will change.

I have to have AutoGenerateColumns=true because the columns for the datatable that the gridview is bound to is not going to be fixed. The problem I'm having is the gridview columns collection is not populated when AutoGenerateColumns is true. Is there anyway I can get the width of each column after the gridview is databound? I've tried using RowDataBound and going through the tablecells but the width is 0 for every column.

I have a gridview that is bound to a SqlDataSource. I programmatically change the selectcommand of the datasource, and then allow the gridview to autogenerate the columns, headings, etc. I want to set the DataFormatString for one of the columns to "{0:d}" (shortdate) before the gridview is displayed. This would be no problem if the datasource was fixed, as I could edit the column with the wizard and set the DataFormatString of the bound column. How can I do this programmatically with my dynamic gridview?

I am using a grid view and a textbox(out of gridview to display the total rows in gridview) , i am doing Paging in GridView , and pageSize is set to 5 ; so far i did this

it shows the number of records , but not total ! it shows only the records displaying on the page .

if i have a total of 8 records , not page index works and shows 5 rows in gridview and other 3 rows on 2nd page index , but if on first instane page shows 5 records in gridview then textbox shows 5 and when i click on second page index it shows 3 rows ( THAT"S NOT WHAT I CODED AND NOT NEEDED ) i want total rows to be shown

View 1 RepliesSo I have a gridview control and I am binding it's datasource dynamically base on a dropdownlist. The gridview contains autogenerated columns with auto generated edit buttons. The datasource binded to the gridview is IQueryable<T> where T will be different for different datasource.
My detail problem is below:
A GridView binded to datasource dynamically with all autogenerated columns. When user click edit link, it will display value in autogenerated textboxes.
When user click update link, I am able to capture the user entered value in the textboxes in RowUpdating event, then pass those values to Linq update function to update the database. Now, the problem begin when I try to dynamically add validation controls to each editing row. In RowDataBound event, I am checking the editrowindex then adding validation control to gridview cell and pointing to cell.controls[0] which is the textbox control when the row is in edit mode, I am dynamically setting the textbox control id so that the validation control can set controltovalidate property. The validation control works, but the updating function is setting everything on the grid to empty string.
I am check the textbox text value in the loop, which returns "" for all cells except the id column. It was returning the correct value before I add the validation control. I guess since I added the validation control on rowdatabound event, will it rerender it's own autogenerated textbox in edit mode so that the text value of textbox no longer available in rowupdating event?
Is there a better or correct way to get the cell textbox value? I am using ((TextBox)dc.Controls[0]).Text where dc is DataControlFieldCell in rowupdating event.

I have a gridview with databound fields with a checkbox for each row. Only the check box is not bound to any field in the database. I have a button outside of the gridview. By clicking the button, I am trying to get the values of the partyID fields for all the rows that have the check box checked.
Upon clicking the button, nothing gets displayed but no error either.
