I am using the ASP.NET3.5 gridview control in a new project. My problem is that the gridview presents data in basic tabular format, whereas I want a grid with row header / grouping behaviors. An example of this would be Outlook web interface, which can group emails by date, as well as allowing you to select individual emails to display.
My problem: I can't see how this could be easily done with Gridview? I did find a product called Telerik that has a seemingly fancy Gridview, but I am hesitant to spend money on a single components that now also locks me into a third-party framework...
I am working on charts with ms chart 3.5 control my question is I have to display legends of pie charts in tabular form. Which will contain the color used for different points and x values and y values. I managed to show the colors and x values but not able to show the y values. I am giving the code also. Example of x and y values are: xvalues- InCorrect YValue- 5 xvalues- Correct YValue- 10 xvalues- UnAttempted YValue- 15
Here is the code used to bind legend values.---- LegendCellColumn firstColumn = new LegendCellColumn(); firstColumn.ColumnType = LegendCellColumnType.SeriesSymbol; firstColumn.HeaderText = "Color"; firstColumn.HeaderBackColor = Color.WhiteSmoke; Chart1.Legends["Default"].CellColumns.Add(firstColumn); // Add second cell column LegendCellColumn secondColumn = new LegendCellColumn(); secondColumn.ColumnType = LegendCellColumnType.Text; secondColumn.HeaderText = "Name"; secondColumn.Text = "#LEGENDTEXT"; secondColumn.HeaderBackColor = Color.White; secondColumn.Alignment = System.Drawing.ContentAlignment.MiddleLeft; Chart1.Legends["Default"].CellColumns.Add(secondColumn); // Add header separator of type line Chart1.Legends["Default"].HeaderSeparator = LegendSeparatorStyle.Line; Chart1.Legends["Default"].HeaderSeparatorColor = Color.FromArgb(64, 64, 64, 64); // Add item column separator of type line Chart1.Legends["Default"].ItemColumnSeparator = LegendSeparatorStyle.Line; Chart1.Legends["Default"].ItemColumnSeparatorColor = Color.FromArgb(64, 64, 64, 64); // Set Min cell column attributes LegendCellColumn minColumn = new LegendCellColumn(); minColumn.Alignment = System.Drawing.ContentAlignment.MiddleLeft; minColumn.Text ="#TOTAL{N1}";
I want to show the individual value of each data point is there any idea how to show the Yvalue of each datapoints minColumn.HeaderText = "Questions"; minColumn.Name = "Questions"; minColumn.HeaderBackColor = Color.WhiteSmoke; Chart1.Legends["Default"].CellColumns.Add(minColumn);
We have to generate images from data in a tabular format (like an application form). e.g. Name Age Address Value of Name Value of age Address Value Sex Value etc. How to achieve this. We are using C# - ASP.NET.
I'm building a User Control that will allow a user to select input parameters, run a query and then view the results in a GridView control. That part is obviously very easy. However, I've been asked to also provide the option of viewing and/or printing the data in a PDF, Excel or CSV file format.
Are there any .Net 2.0, built-in classes that allow for exporting and printing data in these formats in Visual Studio 2005?
A couple of years ago, I worked on a website that offered this functionality in Crystal Reports, but on this particular assignment, we aren't currently using Crystal - I'm not at work right now, and I can't remember if we're running the "Standard" or "Enterprise" edition of Visual Studio.

I am using a SQL DB to save and display a simple collection of data which contains several dates. As the intended audient is UK based, I wish to display the dates in a UK format (DD/MM/YY). This works well (using {0:d}) and the display and creation of records also works fine.
However, as all fields are editable, when the record is displayed in the Formview edit mode and saved, the dates field try and save in the UK format and will more often than not fail with an invalid date error. How can I display the date in a UK format yet get the same field to save in the usual SQL date format?

Can someone suggest a good link, example or suggestions to make it better.
I'm working on a small standalone .NET app needs to refer to some tabular data and its only just selects and at most these tables have 250 records. Previously developers have used a SQL server database. Would I get a performance advantage if I simply convert the table data to XML and read from that? Also is there any kind of performance advantage over keeping database files in the App_Data folder for ASP.NET and attaching them dynamically as opposed to managing them separately? And this is probably a silly question, but if I do it that way does it mean that I don't have to install SQL server separately on the client's computer?
I have search application and in my search application there are some premium clients and other free clients.Now whenever any user search at that time i wants to fetch 70% data free and 30% data of premium client and also i wants to search data in the manner of on each page 3 premium client and rest of free users and if click on next page then once again 3 premium client and rest free clients.
I'm new to using databases with ASP.Net, and I'm trying to learn how to use the data found within one, such as MySQL, and format it to my liking. Since the transition to databases, I have been used to, and I am quite comfortable with, XML, XSD, XSLT, and the XML Data Controls. I am wondering how I go about displaying and formatting values from a database, as I would from a XML document. For example, using XML, I would say in an XLST file that for each node of a specific type, I would display the values of all the child nodes in boxes, with each node having its own box (similar to a blog). How would I go about doing this with soothing like MySQL? Are there equivalents to database style sheets like XSLT, or is there another way about styling, formatting, and displaying database values in a customizable way that doesn't only include tables?
I have a set of data is my database. Need to pull the data and display in a textbox which is set to Multiline mode. The problem is i need to display the that is being retrieved from database is a particular format with line breaks.

I have a text field that users enter information into a database (SQL Server). They are entering as little as a few sentances to multiple paragraphs. I can successfully display the data on my webpage, but the text field is not formatted very nicely. The output is all smashed together like one big paragraph. Ironically, when I also display the text as a tool tip it outputs as multiple paragraphs like it was entered. How can I format the output in the datalist to create a more readable text field? My datalist field is as follows:
