DataSource Controls :: Control This Objectdatasource Programatically From The Code Behind Based On Different Button Clicks?

I have a page where you can search and display other data, very simple layout. 1 Gridview and 1 objectdatasource. But i have 4 possible buttons that can populate the gridview..
i would like to control my objectdatasource from the code behind based on the button you click.
here is what i have right now.. but if possible, can this source not be hardcoded like this and only built in the code behind?

I found this site with a solution to this persons issue, but i cant seem to get mine working this way.

I have this as the code behind right now when you press the button.. what other parameter settings am i missing and is this the right order to populate them for the source to acknowledge my values?

I have a form free user feilds, some drop down which are populated by a database data and a button. I want to create a new line in a table when the user clicks on the button. the values for this new line will come from the Values (not visible content) of the drop box, the content of the text feild, the user ID that I should get from the connection and the current date... ie, I want do do a INSERT INTO table (userid, dropdown, text, date) values (how do I get the user ID from the session?, how do I get the value from the drop down?, how do I get the text from the text box?, how do I get the current date?)

I'd prefer to get rid of the ugly code-behind and just do this in mark-up. Something like

This gives me a run-time error: Cannot create an object of type 'System.Object' from its string representation 'SelectedBook' for the 'DataSource' property.Is there a way of doing this declaratively and not in code-behind? Further, what if what I want is to actually use a child property of the property in question? For example, if my Book object has a ReaderComments collection, can I databind to it decaratively in the aspx mark-up?

I have the following on my aspx page

Then in my code behind i have the following set up in 4+ button events, since each button serves a different purpose.. Prior to this past week, i was only working with 2 gridviews on the page.. that were linked to this datasource.. so everything was fine.. but recently had to add a Datalist to display the results a certain way.. I got it all working, but now that more records are in the table the datalist is growing in length on the page and cant figure out how to modify the current code to enable paging without having to redesign the logic all together to get it enabled.
Based on what i have below and above, is there a solution i can implement to implement paging ONLY for the Datalist? Or if it cant be specific, if enabled, will it affect the gridview that is already configured to enable paging, which already works?

I have a text box in which I want only digits (either decimal or whole numbers). I have applied Required Field Validator and Regular Expression Validator on it.I have an Image Button, by clicking on which, I want this validation to be performed. But when I build the code, and clicks on Image Button, these validators do not work and I am redirected to the server side method of Image Button and after completing the execution of server side method, control comes to these validators and client side validation executes.I am fed up by finding solutions on Google and unable to find any solution.Please tell me of anyone of you know the solution that why server side code is running first and client side validation is executing after server side code execution.

I want to do pagination in repeater control.
I am using repeater.Datasource = objectDataSource.
and objectdatasource is having generic list data.
When i try to cast objectdatasource to dataview ...i am getting exception saying "casting
Collections Generic List cannot be casted to Dataview".
Can anyone tell me easy way to do Repeater Pagination in the above mentioned case

I have a ListView tied to a DataSource, included in the layout is a Literal control. I want to be able for the user to click the Select button, and then I want to populate the Literal control with some Data. I have it working, but I have to click the Select button twice to get the data to show. My code is below.

I have a table in SQL where I insert data (CatCodes) using C# code but I want to insert ID code (DealerID) with it as well. Following is my Stored Procedure and C# code:

Notice that I have multiple ItemTemplates. On the first itemTemplate I have an ASP image control showing some image. I would like that when a user clicks on that image the row gets deleted. I have a web page that has a repeater bound to a data source. I beed to change a label inside the repeater based on the data that is in each repeater item. For instance, for the first item it might be one thing, and for the next item the label may be something else. I am currently doing some processing in the prerender event, but I don't know if I can or how to access the data source fields there. Where and how do I get access to the data in each item so I can change the label text?

I have a datagrid control, the first column is Revno, currently presenting info in linkbutton. i want to do a condition based on another field docid, which gets true or false value from database. if true then present Revno in linkbutton otherwise show the revbnno just as a label., thatway users does'nt have ability to clickit.

In a User Control, I need to add a Div to the end of its parent's page. I've done this in a number of ASPX pages, where I put the code to generate the Div and its contents in the page's PreRender event handler, and it works fine. But when I try to do the same thing in the PreRender event handler for the User Control, I get the following error:
The control collection cannot be modified during DataBind, Init, Load, PreRender or Unload phases.How do I accomplish this in a User Control?
