we have a AutoGenerateColumns-enabled WmxDataGrid in which we are able to update table rows in a DataBase connected with a SqlDataSource.
Each time we clear a field an empty string is written to the database where we want to write DBNull values.
At the moment we generate the update string via UPDATE... SET.. and the SQL Server function NULLIF(value, '').
Works proper but when I want to add the values to e.NewValues in BeginUpdate event I'm not able to read the values from the auto generated text boxes. How do I do that? Is there an easier way to automatically convert empty strings to NULL values?
I have pass following SQL Query to the through ObjectDataSource
[Code]....
And I am passing parameter through QueryString and My idea is like when empty string is pass it should show me all records but when I am passing empty string ObjectDataSource is making NULL and I am not getting desire result
How do I check if my value is empty AND Isnull? I need to check for both, using ISNULL is not enough because the data can change just so that it is empty.
Is there one simple test that a person can do that covers all options where there could be a null, or "" value. When I google, I see so many options. I see:
if txtBox1.text IsNot nothing if txtBox1.text.toString isNot nothing if txtBox1.text <> "" if txtBox1.text.toString <> "" if isNull(txtBox1) Is there on test that can cover them all?
In reference to this question that I just asked, [URL] it appears that for some reason, an empty text box's value is not being fed to SQL Server as NULL, as it ought to be.
I have setup my business object to have a create_date and edit_date members both datetime datatypes. My company want to display the create_date and edit_date fields in a gridview for each transaction. The problem i have is that after insterting a record it will have a valid create_date but no edit_date and when displayed in the gridview it defaults to datetime.minvalue (My default). How on earth do i show an empty field in my gridview for a null datetime field in the database?
I am using similar architecture to the Imar Spaanjaars example of a tiered solution. With a few small tweeks it has worked well for me for ages. I am passing a List<Database> to my object datasource which connects to my gridview.
I want to add array list in sqlcommand.but i don't no how to pass it. My code is.
ArrayList ProductId = new ArrayList(); for (int i = 0; i < ShipmentPackage.Items.Count; i++) { ProductId.Add(ShipmentPackage.Items[i].ProductVariant.ProductID); } select * from TableName where id= ProductId(ProductId is my Arraylist)
I have defined a column in a table I have in an SQL database as being a Time variable and not DateTime. How do I convert the time data that I get from my table into a text string using C#?
i want to ask how to i set variable in asp:sqldatasource in sqlcommand in asp.net c#.... This is my code
asp.net <dx:ASPxListBox ID="lsAssignToko" runat="server" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource6" TextField="NAMA" ValueField="ID" AutoPostBack="true" EnableCallbackMode="True" SelectionMode="CheckColumn" OnSelectedIndexChanged="lsAssignToko_SelectedIndexChanged"> <Columns> <dx:ListBoxColumn FieldName="ID"/> <dx:ListBoxColumn FieldName="NAMA" /> </Columns> </dx:ASPxListBox> <asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource6" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:Ora2010 %>" ProviderName="<%$ ConnectionStrings:Ora2010.ProviderName %>" SelectCommand="SELECT ID, NAMA FROM REF_TOKO WHERE ID IN ( :inTOKO ) ORDER BY NAMA"> <SelectParameters> <asp:SessionParameter Name="inTOKO" SessionField="inTOKO" Size="200" Type="String" /> </SelectParameters> </asp:SqlDataSource> c# string dummy = ""; string data = ""; string inTK = ""; string inTOKO = ""; //string inTOKO1 = ""; int pot; for (int i = lsToko.SelectedItems.Count - 1; i >= 0; i--) { string tok = lsToko.SelectedItem.Text.ToString(); data = lsToko.SelectedItem.Value.ToString(); dummy = dummy + "" + data + ","; int index = lsToko.SelectedItem.Index; lsToko.Items.RemoveAt(index); } if (lsToko.SelectedItems.Count <= 1) { inTK = dummy.Length.ToString(); pot = int.Parse(dummy.Length.ToString()) - 1; inTOKO = dummy.Substring(0, pot); } Session["inTOKO"] = inTOKO;
the problem is where in my variable inTOKO consist of couple of value... Example while variable inTOKO = one value success but while value inTOKO = two value error inTOKO = 1101111 => success inTOKO = 1101111,1211321 => not success
I have a gridview with two bound fields. On clicking a button i want to display the values in first row of gridview in two textboxes. But if gridview cell is empty i am getting the text in textbox to which the value of cell is given as -' 'i know my problem will be solved if i use the template fields instead. But i want a solution while maintaining the bound fields ,if any.
I'm trying to determine whether it is better to declare the connection outside with it's own using statement or to create it inside the sqlcommand itself. This is in regards to a single command interaction with the database (no loops).
I have SqlDataSource with a few parameters (code below). If I understand this code correctly if parameter is NULL I should receive all items from the query. It works fine with query editor. But when I try to use this query on my page - with DropDownList and Textbox controls as source of parameters - it doesn't work. I suspect that main reason of problem is value which these controls pass to the query. Instead of NULL this is an empty string. Is it possible to pass NULL value from DropDownList or TextBox to the SqlDataSource?
I am building a Web Content form in which the user enters some data in asp:TextBoxes, and presses submit to store the data in the database.
I am using an Upadate Panel, in which I have put the afore mentioned asp:TextBoxes. Is there a way to set TextBox.Text = string.Empty after the submit?
Note that I have implemented code, which sets my TextBox.Text = string.Empty in my aspx.cs file, which of course does not work since I am using the update panel with an AsyncPostBackTrigger...
I am accepting query/queries from user (our support team) in a text box where user can enter only one query or multiple queries. I need to display result of all queries entered in the textbox. If it is SELECT statement then result of that statement in grid which is done. If UPDATE/INSERT/DELETE then total number of rows affected which is also done but if only one UPDATE/INSERT/DELETE statement is entered in the textbox.
If user enters 2 UPDATE statements and then a SELECT statement then how can I get number of rows affected for individual UPDATE statements just like SQL Server Qury Analyzer displays messages in its result pane.
e.g.
(6 row(s) affected) -- first UPDATE statement
(4 row(s) affected) -- second UPDATE statement
(16 row(s) affected) -- for SELECT statement (grid will also be displayed along with these messages).
I tried almost everything, SqlDataSource (returns count of first statement only), SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery and DataAdapter.Fill (returns count of last statement only).
I was develop an application (ASP.Net) Using (VS.Net C# 2010 & SQL Server 2008)
And I was applying (3-tyer Basics) and I'm not using wizard forever in my application.
The problem is :
When I try to passing the parameters to database, some fields I don't type it But it's show in database (Empty like "Space") in text fields and (01-01-1900) in date fields
Although it's must be (Null) .
How I can pass parameters with Null Values for the fields that's not typed?
In .net streams are by default encoded in utf-8. so what i want to do is to simply read the text in a textbox in which i paste the russian characters and then convert them to ascii. but when i debug the code then in my resulting string ? appears. how i can convert the string into its ascii equivalent. my code is given below
string inputString = txtName.Text; ASCIIEncoding ascii = new ASCIIEncoding(); Encoding encoder = ASCIIEncoding.GetEncoding("us-ascii", new EncoderReplacementFallback(string.Empty), new DecoderExceptionFallback()); byte[] bAsciiString = encoder.GetBytes(inputString); string cleanString = ascii.GetString(bAsciiString);
