Ex:
Tables:
1) Account: ID,UserName,Pass
2) Campaign: ID,AccountID,Date,Balance
3) CampaignSpec: ID,CampaignID,Spec,Color
Note: Account.ID = Campaign.AccountID and Campaign.ID = CampaignSpec.CampaignID
How do I remove duplicate rows from a data table based upon a two column values;I want to pass in a Data Table and a column names and get the data table back with data rows where that columns value are unique.

Actually I have DataList with CheckBox (default value checked=false). I am bindind DataList at run time using DataView (Dataview is created fromDataTable).
I also have <asp:Button ID="btnDelete" ....> which I am using to delete checked items in the DataList (But this functionality is not working).
The user first "checked" items in the DataList and click the the button "btnDelete". Here nothing is being deleted (?) and the DataList appears with all the items"unchecked" (even those which the the "checked" by the user). protected void btnDelete_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) . In this function I am checking state of the checkbox before deleting the row in the DataTable.
On PostBack generated by the "btnDelete", DataList appears with checkboxes unchecked therefore nothing is being deleted

I have a database table that stores a list of friends. The table can store many friends and there can be duplicates, for example - John is James' and davids' friend. John will be in the table twice but will be linked to the others via another data-member. What i dont want is james to be down as johns friend twice in the table. I'm doing a small social network and this is possible by james accepting john as his friend twice. Is there anything to check if there are 2 columns identical?

i am working without using data base only delete from gridview.
I want to have two combo boxes: One for categories and one for subcategories. As a category is selected in one combo box, all the related subcategories are displayed in the other combo box. EF 4.0 should be perfect for this. But the subcategory collections are always empty!

I can see that Lazy loading is set to true. I tried setting it to false and adding Include("Subcategories") but the subcategories collection is always empty.
I even tried using the SQL Server Profiler. Although I couldn't explain the timing, I could in some cases see the queries to return the subcategories. I even executed the query and it returned the expected results.
I'm really getting frustrated by EF. Although I'm fairly new to SQL Server, I could've had what I'm working on done hours ago. Instead, it's like a black box with no way for me to troubleshoot or determine what the heck is going wrong.

View 14 RepliesI have one big DataTable with X rows. I want to select Y rows from it and bind them to a new ViewList. While doing it, I want to delete these rows from the DataTable (Having X - Y rows).
What is the best and fast way to do it?
I don't know if it is better to create a new DataTable to have the Y and after that bind them to a ViewList or something else?
I'm also looking for example in code how to select/delete rows from DataTable.
I have the folloing sql server error from my ASP.NET website.
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
This seems to be a network related issue. But on the same machine where IIS is running, I have another C# application running that is not experiencing this problem. This happens after the website has been running for a few weeks. Will this be because the database connections are opened but not closed properly?. I wrote a test web page where i just open connection but not close it and I got Time out error when connection pooling is maxed out. Is this memory issue? Memory that are allocated are not deallocated in timely fashion?..
Everything is working fine for a few weeks and after that I get the above network error.
I have a formview with an entityDataSource. I need to include columns from related fields. I have seen many demos, with AdventureWorksDB, that imply that you can do this by using INCLUDE in the entitydatasource declaration. I have tried made many attempts and it just does not seem to work as demonstrated. I have attached the errors below and the EDS. I have also attached a JPEG of the model I am working in. First time using a ListView control, I have it inside an UpdatePanel:

When the UpdatePanel Loads, it feeds the data to the ListView. Whenever the user clicks on a row in the ListView, a new window displaying a "note" pops up, the ItemDataBound event ties it all together. What I'm trying to do is add a button to each row so that the user can delete the row. This would call a Sql statement and then the row should disappear. I followed a couple of articles I found on ListView on how to do this, so I added a button called imgBtnDeleteNote (see markup above) and set the CommandName = "Delete", hoping that it would trigger the ItemCommand and ItemDeleting event (I have some bogus code in them, first I wanted to see if they would trigger).
The problem is that they don't seem to get triggered when I click on the delete button. All the rows in the listview disappear, and when I manually refresh the page they come back. My guess is that the events are not firing because I'm not using a DataSource object in the aspx code, but I'm not sure.
I have three tables:
Colour(Colour ID, Colour)
DogColours(ColourID, Dog ID)
Dog(Dog ID, Breed)
Colour ID and Dog are primary keys.
I have three web forms, one for each table. Dog colours consists of data that is already in the system from the other two tables. It basically joins a breed to a colour. My problem is this:
When i try delete a dog which is being used in dog colours the program crashes. How can i prevent this crash?
The second problem, the data source in the dog colours web form has the insert, update and delete tick boxes greyed out in the 'configure the select statement' so i am unable to delete a colour and dog joined together. how can i delete something in the dog colours?
