I have 2 dropdownlist(ddlCategoryFooter and ddlItemCodeFooter)inside my gridview. I want to set ddlItemCodeFooter 's datasource to my getItemList(decimal categoryID) method. The selecteditem of ddlCategoryFooter will serve as the paramter which will be passed to my getItemList Method. Basically, ddlItemCodeFooter is dependent on ddlCategoryFooter's selectedItem.
I know it can be done in code behind approach but i prefer to place it in my asp page.
I'm using Visual Studio 2008 Query Builder and am trying to pass a value to a parameter that uses the IN OPERATOR.Here is my sql from qb:
SELECT COURSE_TITLE, INSTR_NAME, ADMIN_UNIT FROM vwHRIC_EC_ContractSummary WHERE (ADMIN_UNIT IN (@ADMIN_UNIT))
The trouble I am having is that if the parameter @ADMIN_UNIT contains more than one value such as (8X, CV) that the query doesn't return any data. If I run the same query with only one value such as (8X) it works fine.I have tried different formats like (8X, CV), ('8X', 'CV'), (8X; CV) but none have worked.I ran this same query in SQL Server Management Studio and and it returns data no problem but can't get it to work in Query Builder for my aspx application.Does anyone have any experience with this problem and how did you correct it?
I just like to know how to pass a parameter to the datasource of my dllItemCodeFooter and dllItemCodeEdit Drowndownlist which calls my getItemCodeList(decimal categoryID) method in the code behind. The value of the parameter will be seletectedValue of the first dropdownlist(ddlCategoryFooter or ddlCategoryEdit).I know it could be done in code behind, but i prefer to bind my datasource in asp page. I want to achieve something like this
I have the following scenario: my website displays articles (inputted by an admin. like a blog). So to view an article, the user is referred to Home/Articles/{article ID}.However, the user selects which article to view from within the Articles.aspx view itself, using a jsTree list.So I what I need to do is to be able to differentiate between two cases: the user is accessing a specific article, or he is simply trying to access the "main" articles page. I tried setting the "Articles" controller parameter as optional (int? id), but then I am having problems "using" the id value inside the controller.
I am trying to pass in as an insert parameter for SQLds2 the scope_identity of the insert of SQLds1.
Exception Details: System.InvalidOperationException: Error executing 'InsertCommand' in SqlDataSource 'SqlDataSource1'. Ensure the command accepts the following parameters: @Name1, @NewId
I have got a problem about setting the optional parameter to NULL in sql sp. Initially I set all the parameters null in the sql sp. That's OK. But I would like to set the parameters to Null again if a particular parameter has a value of - 1 by using the "IF ELSE" statement block. However, the problem was that I was unable to set the parameter to NULL in the IF ELSE statement. So please correct my IF ELSE statement in the store procedure. This is really urgent and important for my project.

I'm starting a port of an existing ASP.NET Web Forms CMS to ASP.NET MVC and want to get the routing right from the start.Note: it isn't important to have the exact same URL structure.I think this answer is close to what I'm looking for but would like some additional input should anyone have it.
am to add optional parameter to pass these in a method the parameter may vary every time. And i need to pass these parameter to a method, so my question is how should i add these optional parameter to a collection and what kind of collection object should i use and how should i use that.
I would like to have two different welcome pages for a site. How could I handle this? I've looked at routing but I'm not sure if global.asax.cs is the correct place to place this into.
www.mycompany.com should display generic information. Displaying view Home/Default.aspx www.mycompany.com?id=1 should display welcome customer x. Displaying view Home/Welcome.aspx
I was expecting a parameter will become a empty string value if the parameter is missing, but it turn out to be null. have I done it wrong for the optional parameter?
I have an ASP.NET VB website in which I am using the Membership functionality to authenticate users. I am doing this through the Login control on the HTML page. I have working that it will authenticate the user and then opens a welcome screen in which I have a button they can push to open a Reports.aspx page. On that page I have a dropdown box that is being populated from a datasource connection query to my SQL Server database table. It is a hard coded query but want it to query the table off the username text value that the user provided on the login (i.e. select <something> from inventory where username = <username>). I have not behind code but only HTML at this point. Here it is ...
<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="Login.aspx.vb" Inherits="Login" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server">
[Code] .....
Here is the Reports form that has the dropdown on it:
<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="Report.aspx.vb" Inherits="Report" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server">
i have a stored procedure with multiple parameters. and several statement which utilities a specific set of queries. therefore, every time its not necessary data will be passed through the parameters, so how can i make "providing data to parameter" optional
I'm creating a reports with the following filter criteria:
ID - textbox Created Date - range between start and end date Syste Name - dropdown Users may filter the report based on the ID or System Name or all the criteria mentioned.
The search Field for ID, by default has a Null checkbox beside on it while other filter doesn't. how can I enable the checkbox for the other filters?
So I came across this article which should my issue. Apparently, I'm receiving a formula error "The arguments to the following functions are not valid:FIND" with this formula OR(FIND(Creation Date, Parameter: Creation Date)<>0, Parameter : Creation Date = Empty). see this link for the screenshot. I don't know what I'm missing. I'm using Reporting Services 2005
Basically, my question is: how do I specify optional parameters to a WebMethod when providing JSON data?
I know I can reduce the parameters down to just the required values, and then use HttpContext.Request.Params to read the values of optional paramaters, but I would have thought the way I have tried here should have worked.
EDIT
The XMLHttpRequest.responseText value for the error is:
Invalid JSON primitive: staffcode.
This is throwing me even more off the scent of the problem :(
I have a form that searches for images in a database. I have several DropDownLists with various search criteria e.g. Genus, Photographer, State, Project.I'd like the user to be able to filter using any combination of these. For example they might pick a specific photographer and a specific genus but choose not filter by project or state.I'd like to find a good, clean, elegent way to do this. Here is an example of the code I have now, it has only two possible criteria. It works but I have a feeling there are better ways to do this....
I have couple of DDL's which let user choose couple of different values from it. Once the user has made his selection he clicks on the "Submit" buttion which redirects the user to the other page, which then displays table from backend SQL DB. The pages are named Page1.aspx and Page2.aspx resp. I am using Querystring to carry forward the values of the DDL's to Page2.aspx.
How can i modify the query in such a way that even if one of the DDL's is left blank the Query would ignore that and shall produce the table considering value of DDL2 in the where clause. In case both the DDL's are empty then the query will not have a where clause and shall showcase the complete table as such. I've written a query for this but it's not working the way it shoul. Here is my code for the SQLDataSource: [Code]....
I'm trying to have a parameter as optional i.e. /Category/{ProductName}/{ProductOption} where ProductOption is optional. How do I handle this in web forms 4? Here's what my code looks like now:
This may be elementary user control stuff, but I can't get it to work.
How can I pass the Membership.GetUser.UserName variable (or any variable) through a user control parameter at load time?
[Code]....
The only thing that I was able to do was to create the User Control object in the code behind and then add it to the page. Although that works, it doesn't seem like the correct way to program.
I am trying to pass a URL parameter to a web page that contains a Gridview to make that query dynamic
The URL is http://localhost:3036/people2.aspx?ArvDate=01/03/2011
I would like to add that parameter to the Select statement below (bolded)
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource2" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:sqlConnection %>" SelectCommand="SELECT NumPeople, Date1,Time1,Venue FROM People_Count WHERE Date1=XXXXXXXXXX and c
I already have this code to capture from the URL
Dim strPar As String strPar = Request.QueryString.Item("ArvDate") If strPar = "" Then strPar = DateTime.Now.ToString("d") [code]....
I just don't know the syntax to get it in that SQL Select statement
