I'm doing a timesheet program. In this timesheet program, I have a default button. If a person doing a same task everyday, they can just fill out the task description & click on default button, it will add that task for 5 days.my question is that my button click has to hit database 7 times. Is there anyway that I can improve this?
I have a pretty big web site (asp.net web) and I have used JavaScript intensively (jquery, custom javascipt, etc) and also The theme and CSS. Right now I have a huge amount of js and css files in my system and I am thinking about minifying and smashing the js and css to improve the performance. So, please advice me the suitable tools and technologies to be used and please suggest me the best practices to be applied in these scenario.
Please can any body provide me suggestions for standards that you feel are necessary or are areas where effciency/maintenance would improve through standardization.Like GUI,Controller,Repository.Any ideas reagrding ViewModels can be specified under the Controller section? if we place any good results?
I am new to asp.net development and I have a employee Web form that is part of a larger wesite. The webform uses a Gridview control which receives data via SQL Server tables so the web form has a SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" defined. When the page loads, the connection string automatically populates the rows of the gridview (which is a all employees).
I am attempting to create a customized sub search wherein the user can reduce the search to one person by providing either firstname or lastname, department etc within a textbox and then selecting the same from a dropdown list. Finally the user clicks the submit button (which is onclick in codebehind).
When I try to do the above I get "System.InvalidOperationException: Both DataSource and DataSourceID are defined on 'GridView1'. Remove one definition." It seems that once I define the DataSource and DataSourceID in the form, it is illegal for me to do it again in the codebehind. Is there a way to refresh the Gridview that I already have with code from a button_click. I have code attached.
In my webpage, the page uses lots of images and css. The time taken to load the initial home page is huge. What are the ways, which can be done in IIS 6.0 to improve the performance?I checked few results in google, which talked about File expiration policy and enabling http compression in IIS 6.0. In the Enable content expiration, what value should be ideally used?In the Custom Http header, what should be added to improve the performance.
I am working on a small project that requires gridview paging for upto 100k records. what are the ways i can improve the performance. I tried to page using sql server with Temp table but it still is a bit on the slower side.
We are using MSChart on an ASP.net 3.5 web application and noticing significant slowness from enabling tooltips. the performance of drawing a chart is increased by 1,000-2,000ms.The chart output is PNG, and contains in total 108 data points.
I have a detailsview that is listing a users membership data. userid, username etc... I have the info in template fields. Basically I have also created a button named "Delete User" at the bottom of the page outside of the detailsview. (detailsview is only displaying one user's data). When the button_click event is called I would like to delete the user using the command
[Code]....
Where username is a string I pass through from the detailsview. I am using VB and can't seem to find a way to bring the username value over from the detailsview into the button_click event.
I successfully bind ListView DataSourceID to ObjectDataSource but it binds only initially on Page_Load event. When I want to bind another data through a Button_Click event, the new data doesn't bind.
aspx code:
[Code]....
Codebehind:
[Code]....
On Page_Load, I get result:
A1 <hr /> T1 A2 <hr /> T2 A3 <hr /> T3
When I Button1_Click, nothing happens, no error, no any more results and _airLineData is 53 records, not 3 records (A1T1 to A3T3) I want the binding to be with DataSourceID to ObjectDataSource (not through DataSource property and control.DataBind() method)
I have developed a gridview which has 7,000 records with some filtering. However, theuser is compaining that it is too slow. It seems to me that if the records were stored in memory it would be much faster. This is caching, I think. Is that the case? Can you updaterecords this way? Can you cache with an Access database or do you have to use SQL Server? Can you think of any other ways to improve
This is a continuation on this question:The problem is simple. I need to call methods from a REST web service which controls several tables. One table is a snapshot table which contains records with huge XML files. Each XML file is basically a backup from another database. This backup XML is then sent to customers who use the data as read-only information in another product. Basically, the data in the XML are lists of companies, products, business rules and whatever more. And no, those customers work offline most of the time, so they cannot get the data live.Walking through the list of snapshots is tricky: XMLData.Snapshots.Skip(N).Take(1).First(); but it works very nice. It's the answer of the previous Q.But there are three other lists of data that I need to walk through. These are called Changes, Errors and Messages. They contain (1) changes to the data, (2) errors that occurred during modifying the data and (3) generic messages. All of these records are linked to a snapshot record. Thus a single snapshot can contain multiple changes, errors and messages.
I still cannot access the server code but since there's a REST service wrapped around an entity framework exposing most of the functionality, I can still use that service. (And that service is only accessible internally, on the Intranet. This is basically what I have to work with. And while the lists of changes, errors and messages are relatively small, the snapshots are still huge.
The problem is that I now want to generate a client-side report of the changes, errors and messages, but without grouping them by snapshot! They need to be grouped by date. But each record also needs to show the title of the snapshot, which causes me some incredible headaches...When walking through e.g. the Changes with the regular foreach instruction I can load the Snapshot data by using XMLData.LoadProperty(Change, "Snapshots"); but since the snapshot record itself is generally about 300 MB, this just slows the whole thing down to a crawl. (There are tens of thousands of these records in total!) So I need a faster solution, without having to modify the server code. Yeah, okay. Modifying the server would be the proper way but that's not possible. It's in production and this list isn't important enough to require an upgrade of the server. Basically, I'm not allowed to modify any server-code for now. (But they still want this list.)The application I'm working on is something that just needs to run once per week or per month. But with the current amount of records, I estimate it would take more than two days to finish. The data itself will be updated a few times every office day and snapshots are created every week or so on the server. Errors can always be generated when users start browsing the site which maintains the data but in general, there will be about 50 changes and 4 errors per week, plus a few messages when the server goes down and up again or when snapshots are generated.
I want to be able to show the record that was just inserted after add_button_click event. I run the insert from mycommand and then set mycommand2 to run the read to populate a details view. I have a feeling I am going about this the wrong way. The insert fires correctly but the details view does not populate.
Have a GridView with a templated select button hidden and using
e.Row.Attributes.Add("onclick",Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(this.grdMaster, "Select$" + e.Row.RowIndex.ToString())); to select a row .
When user like to update the datasource he will select one row from gridview then in selected indexchanged event i would display the selected row values beneath the form under the grid , Then user will update the contents displayed from grid and click an update button which is outside the grid . After updating the displayed row , i got to get the values of the next row in the grid and display them for next updation , i'e if users maually selects row 3 from grid then he can update the values using the update button and then on update click itself i'll have to display next row contents of row 4 and this process could go on .
The solution works perfectly except that, after the popup is loaded, when you hit Enter, I want to call the btn_ok (button click event) of the Child.ascx that should MessageBox(the event is fired..) but now it fails to call teh button_Click event.
I've stepped through the code and verified this action. It gets to the end sub and just loops again. Also does it on the production server in IE and Chome (that's all I've tried). Here is the button definition on the actual ASP page:
[Code]....
It goes through the code, sends me an email, gets to End Sub, then loops right back to the top of the sub and goes through the whole thing again, sending me a duplicate email, then exiting normally and sending them to the About page. This is the only code in the aspx.vb besides the class def and inherits statement.
I'm going nuts here.. This is what i like to do: When i click my serverbutton i want a fade message to show and then execute as usual all the servercode (db insert and more) i have in my button_click event in code behind. The fade effect works, but the servercode never executes. I don't know how many guides i have tried but it seems impossible to achieve this. I just want to fire the the code in my click_event. I really hope someone of you can point me in the right direction.
opened a Popup using Jquery dialog it contains all asp.net controls [ submit, textbox]When i click submit on popup no action is performing.....how can i call that action with jQuery i am beginner..can u explain in detail...if possible with sample code.......
I have a datagrid with checkboxes. User selects some rows and click on a button on the same page. Code on button_click verify the data for selected rows, It it finds some certain status (Valid), I want a confirmation message to show "You have a or more valid record(s), Do you really want to set inactive?"
Now i user clicks ok, next code should execute else not.
I know attribute.add can not be used because it decides the condition on same button click.
1. Does the whole page load everytime there is an event(Button_Click)?2. Can an iframe refresh(page load) without having to load the whole page it is in?
I'm dynamically adding rows at run-time in the Page_Load function as it pulls data from a database to populate them. However, in my "btnSubmit_Click" function, if I call tblMassEntry.Rows.Count, the total is 0.The table is created on the .aspx page.
I have a master page and many content pages. In my master page i have LOGOUT button. In the content pages i have many buttons. Now the prob is, LOGOUT button is set to default automatically.. this is very annoying that whenever i wanted to submit the form, i am pressing ENTER key and it is taking me to the login page. So, pls let me know How can i set the particular button_click event to be fired when ENTER key is pressed.
I have a ASPX Page that contains several user controls, which are loaded dynamically after user interaction.
On one of ascx I have a hidden button that is being clicked on some user actions (via button.click()), which works fine on 1st page load. But after the form is being submitted once, the other ascx is loaded. There if user clicks the back button and resubmits the 1st form (again via button.click()), button_clicked event on server does not fire again.
