I want to be able to show the record that was just inserted after add_button_click event. I run the insert from mycommand and then set mycommand2 to run the read to populate a details view. I have a feeling I am going about this the wrong way. The insert fires correctly but the details view does not populate.

I plan on having multiple Gridviews on one page populated completely in code behind. The only difference between them will be the Stored Procedure. In an effort to save having to write the following for each gridview, can I reuse the commands for each of them. Below is a sample of one of the commands that I would like to use, as well as the bind sub that I am using.
I realize that it will not be at all difficult to cut and paste each of these lines, and making the minor edits for each one. I just would like to keep my code behind file thin, as well as only limiting the chance for mistakes by using multiple commands.

I have a detailsview that is listing a users membership data. userid, username etc... I have the info in template fields. Basically I have also created a button named "Delete User" at the bottom of the page outside of the detailsview. (detailsview is only displaying one user's data). When the button_click event is called I would like to delete the user using the command

Where username is a string I pass through from the detailsview. I am using VB and can't seem to find a way to bring the username value over from the detailsview into the button_click event.
This would seem to be quite a trivial task, however I am having trouble retrieving the identity of the record inserted using the detailsview.insert() in the code behind. It would seem that detailsview.DataKey.Value would contain this value, but it is null after the insert is performed.

View 7 RepliesI am trying to write an app that has one gridview, but I change the select on my sql data source to show different information on the same grid. For example I start showing units, but when price is selected I reassign my select command from Select sales.[sales1] to Select (sales.[price] * sales.[sales1]) as sales1.
However, this is causing a problem that I cannot understand with the built-in edit functionality of gridview. Whenever I click on edit, all the data in my gridview reverts back to the original select and displays only units. Am I missing something? When I change my select command the only things I am changing are my gridview.datakeynames, sqlsource.selectcommand, and sqlsource.updatecommand. What do I need to add to make my gridview edit using the current selectcommand?

The solution works perfectly except that, after the popup is loaded, when you hit Enter, I want to call the btn_ok (button click event) of the Child.ascx that should MessageBox(the event is fired..) but now it fails to call teh button_Click event.

I've stepped through the code and verified this action. It gets to the end sub and just loops again. Also does it on the production server in IE and Chome (that's all I've tried). Here is the button definition on the actual ASP page:

It goes through the code, sends me an email, gets to End Sub, then loops right back to the top of the sub and goes through the whole thing again, sending me a duplicate email, then exiting normally and sending them to the About page. This is the only code in the aspx.vb besides the class def and inherits statement.
I added some javascript to fill in a dropdown and it works wonderfully. However, when I try to access the value in codebehind to submit the data, the value shows as null. (string strValue = ddlName.SelectedValue;).

I am not able to find the projects related to working with excel sheets by using ClosedXML to refer. I have an excel book which contains two sheets.
In sheet 01: In column A: In B: In C:

now, I would like to see in two comboboxes (all the words/text presented in the column A) from two sheets, the student name and course name and then I want select any student name and course name of my choice. Afterwards, when I click on a button, my program should display the students phone number and the course name (from column B from both sheets) and related things present in the Column C D E.. of the selected things in combobox in a label or a in a textbox.
PS: I solved the following problem: I can select student name in one combobox and print the the corresponding data from the only one column B (but I worked only with one sheet). It is bit complicated for me to continue with two sheets.
I have a master page and many content pages. In my master page i have LOGOUT button. In the content pages i have many buttons. Now the prob is, LOGOUT button is set to default automatically.. this is very annoying that whenever i wanted to submit the form, i am pressing ENTER key and it is taking me to the login page. So, pls let me know How can i set the particular button_click event to be fired when ENTER key is pressed.

The reason is that in my application I don't know in advance how many controls (or texts) I should insert.
For example I have to read the fields from a database table and insert in the ItemTemplate controls according to those fields:

As the page first loads the button_click event on both the controls does not fire when clicking the buttons. I also have an event on the enter key on the text box. This event fires which causes a post back. After post back now my button_click event fire. The button_click event does not fire on the first page_load.

I stripped this example to make it simple. I have a gridview with a template field. The template field contains two buttons and a label (They must be in the same template field). How can I accomplish this?

View 3 RepliesI have a problem with listview and I can't find any useful solution.
Here is my situation:
I have a listview with insert row and i need to do some calculations as user types in. Some fields are not filled by user but computed by javascript function (they are not inserted into db, they are shown for informational purposes only). These fields are just textboxes - computed ones are disabled. So i want to add some javascript functions to handle the computation, but i need this functions to have proper IDs. So i add them dynamically on listview.itemcreated with attributes.add. And that's where the problem begins.
If I use textbox.attributes.add("onblur", "some code"), suddenly all row commands of insert row stop working. They seem to cause a postback (all filled fields are blank after) but they are not firing any event. ItemCommand, ItemInserted, ItemInserting... Nothing. I have a masterpage and updatepanel in my website but i don't think that is the source of all problems. If I clear all javascript events from all textboxes and dropdownlists, row commands are working again. But I really need some client side computation and validation and I don't know how to make it work and still can insert rows.
