I have a situation where i have a dataset with many, many rows but few columns (5). Lets say in one row i have A,B then somewhere else in the dataset i could have another row that has B,A. What i want to do is if A,B exists then remove the row where B,A exists.
How does one go about doing this?
i have one dataset ds1 which have say 5 cols. (eg id,name,marks,age,sex)
i want to copy only id,marks age into other dataset ds2. using loop or any methods.
I am using dataset which contains some records I want to query with dataset to get every time next 20 records. I don't want to do it throught loop is there any way that I can get next 20 records everytime.

View 3 RepliesI am working a project, it requires me to select everything from a table, one of the fields contains dates. I have to take each take and add negative 6 months if the result equates to today's date then i add that row in the dataset to a listview else i remove that row from the dataset.
The problem i am having is removing the entire row from the dataset before binding it to the listview.
I am trying to design my logic to do this but I want to create a dataSet which will have records from several databases, The records all have the same layout.
I am reagin the connection string paths from a table in a database.
I am asking for your help in trying figure out my logic.
Should I use the connectionString builder in conjunction with a loop to Connect, read a record into a dataset Until therer are no more records to be read from my databse table with the database name/paths tables ?

I dont know why my GridView.DataSource is become nothing when the Page.IsPostBack = true.What i did is bind the dataset to the GridView.DataSource when page load. Then when the button click event is trigger i need to get all the records from GridView. But when i debug and check i found that the GridView.DataSource is become nothing. how should i get all records from the GridView and assign to dataset. I'm using VB.net to work on.

I am accumulating a string for a SQL IN clause, so the format needs to be WHERE var IN ('string1','string2','string3',etc)
The strings are coming from a multiline textbox where they are pasted in from the user (one per line).
For some reason, I always get a space right after the tick and before the value in every value after the first. For instance my DataReader is only returning one record because the input string turns out like this:
SELECT * FROM Table
WHERE ID IN ('12345',' 23456',' 34567')
Here is how I am processing the string, and I can't see why it is not taking that space out.

Even if I move the replace space (line 2) to the end of the code block, it still wont trim it out...

I am fairly new to Vb.net. I have succesfully populated Dataset from a Text file using Schema.ini.
However I acually want to append these records into a Table and cannot figure it out.
I am using oracle as back end. In database there is a table with 5000 records and 160 columns. i want to display all these records in gridview(in asp.net, c#). But it takes more than 10 minutes to fill the dataset.

View 6 RepliesIf I have a customErrors section in my Web.config that says to redirect to Error.html, then putting code in the Application_Error method in the Global.asax to redirect to Error.html is redundant is it not? Technically, I could bypass the Web.config by redirecting to a different page in the Application_Error method if I wanted to, but since I don't want to go to a separate page I don't think I need the code.

I am using DataAdapter.FillSchema to create shema of tables in DataSet. I created DataRelation on columns
T1id in both tables.
Now when i try to Update Sql Database T1id in Table2 remains 0 and not the value of T1id in Table1.
I can successfully update Sql Database if i fill DataSet with records first (Using DataAdapter.Fill), but that's not what i want to do. I don't need "old" records in my dataset. I want to use dataset just to store all imputs from user until the proccess is done and then insert all those records "at the same time".
In myapp, I can create two datasets: [dstServer1] and [dstServer2]. They are coming from two tables which are in two different SQL server: [Order1] (in server1) and [Order2] (in server2). These two tables have the same data structure. How to code to compare two dataset and then insert difference into another table without using linked server?

To do that, I have created a query in the TableAdapter called GetDataByFecha:

in C# I do this:

but, when I compile it I get this error:

I have dataset which is called at page load event. Also every time i clicked on refresh it will call refresh function where it store updated values from database.
Now I want only updated fields row and want to store into datatable or another dataset.
I dont want to cmp each and every iteration of the dataset. I used Getchanges() of dataset but not working.
