I am having an issue when trying to update a ModifiedDateColumn in the database via LINQ. I am setting the ModifiedDate property (which is a DateTime in both SQL Server and my code) using DateTime.Now. I am getting an error where LINQ is generating too many precisions when generating the SQL to execute. Here is what the LINQ is generating (see @p3 & @p5)
[Code]....
How do I get LINQ to only generate to only 3 decimal places?
I have an SqlDataSource with several parameters, one of which is a date/time, that is in the database it is stored in one field as short date + long time, i.e., "11/14/2010 9:15:34 PM".
I pass a string to that parameter which looks exactly like that, but I get an error: "String was not recognized as a valid DateTime?"
I am very new to ASP .NET and am getting above error when trying to insert a new record into a SQL database. I have turned on Option Explicit On so the default date of 01/01/1900 does not get assigned to this field automatically. Since most of the people in the database will not have a date of death, I need to have "blank" deathDate. When I run the stored procedure within SQL and choose pass null value, the Insert Procedure works fine. When I attach to Web Form, however, I get String was not recognized as a valid DateTime error. How can I set it so Null values are accepted into this date field.

I am developing a C# VS 2008 / SQL Server 2005 Express website application. I have tried some of the fixes for this problem but my call stack differs from others. And these fixes did not fix my problem. What steps can I take to troubleshoot this?

I select few columns from table A in dataset. Example "EMP_ID","Name","Address","Phone_Number". I want to save data in this dataset into some other table B.
I want to save data from dataset into table B. But i want to have following functionality
1. Before saving a record from dataset to table B if that record if previously present in table B, if yes then check if any value are different, if yes then update that record with the record from dataset, if all the values are same then leave the records as is.
2. If the record is not present in table B then insert it new records in table B from dataset.
Is there any efficient way to implement in .NET C#.

I am making a website. It searches some data from database. When It fetch 1000 records, it runs very softly but when it fetches more then 10000 records then it doesn't display data for second page and I get a error that "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".
I also want to share the functionality of the site. It display only 10 records in the page and rest of data will be kept on the object. When user click on next page then it fetches data from that object only. It doesn't go back to database.
It workds nicely when it fetches 1000 records but it gives error when it fetches more then 10000 records.
I want to use a TextBox with the Ajax Toolkit Calender Extender as a control to return all activities on a particular date regardless of what time they are at into a GridView.I don't understand how to set up the SQL Statement to properly do this. If it helps here is my current SQL statement

I am beginner to sql database and asp.net.I want to fetch datetime from sql database and display it in textbox.I have wrote one stored procedure. The Procedure is
declare @o_Output varchar(30) SET @o_Output = getdate() select @o_Output
Using the above procedure i'm getting current date and time.but my problem is i am hitting ql database while page loading itself. if i am hitting db on 12.40pm means, the textbox showing always the sametime only. I am trying to insert or update some data's into db that time only, i am hitting the db.The textbox datetime(12.50pm) has been changed that time alone. i want to update datetime to textbox at every minutes or seconds.
I have an EntityDatasource that is bound to several TextBoxes used for querying (filtering) data in a ListView. The problem I am having is getting a DateTime to work. I just want to ignore the time portion of the variable and only look at the Date portion. Here is the markup I am using to generate the where clause. Does anyone know how to force it to just "drop" the time in the comparison?
I get a recordset returned from DB and try to load it. However sometimes field "LastRun" may be empty (NULL). when i have this it compiles fine but errors out when value is null m_LastRun = Convert.ToDateTime(r["LastRun"]); when I take out Convert.ToDateTime it doesn't even compile.
