Apr 12, 2010I have an update / insert statements. If the user selects the checkbox IsPrestigeFeatured, I want that row to be set to 1 and I want all other rows to be set to 0. E.g. so there is only one row which is "Is prestige Featured"

Jun 11, 2010I have an SQL database table like the following:
ID // Code // Shape
The ID is the integer identifier.
On one line the Code may be OX01 and shape Hexagon for example
Then the next line the code is still OX01 but the shape is Triangle.
What I want to do is be able to pull back data for every line that is equal to a unique Code column. in the above example OX01 Hexagon would be returned but not OX01 Triangle.
I've tried using SELECT DISTINCT but it brings back all records and doesn't filter them correctly.
I've considered having another column which could have Child/Parent data so that only the parent is returned but i'm sure there must be a better way of doing this.

Mar 29, 2010I am working on a small project. I ran the query below to get the maximum userid and increase it by 1 to create a new userid. However, when I run the query, it does not display the values that I enter into the database using insert statement. For example, if I open the table called login, I can see there are three records. If Irun the select statement, it only return one record which is the one that I enter manually when I first created the table. If I run the same select statement and give it a user id that I created, it returns the correct result.

Event:
- EventID (PK)
- GroupID (FK)
- StartDate
Group:
- GroupID (PK)
- GroupName
What i need to do is select the last 5 events for each group using LINQ to Objects. I tried starting with:

But i'm not sure how i only take the last 5 per group.
The simple way of doing this is to get the groups and then have a property on that which returns the last 5 events but if i databind this i will have to use a nested Repeater/ListView. Ideally i would like to have a row foreach event.

How do I detect which rows he changes and which rows he deleted (so I drop them from DB). I know it can be done easily via table adapters but I am supporting a previously built app using untyped datatables/datasets.

Sep 22, 2010I'm trying to figure out how to update multiple rows in my Directory table, when a user changes their Street Number or Street Name in their profile. They can add multiple users to a directory and each user they add to the directory has this primary users UserId in it. So if the primary user changes their address, I want it to update the address for all the users they listed in the directory as well. I'm adding this to the On_Click in the Code Behind, so when they click to update their profile, it fires this function as well. This code may be way off, but here's what I have right now:

Excuse me but the most part of variable are in italian, however I think it is possible to understand how does it work. If I execute this code I obtain this error:
System.InvalidOperationException: Update requires a valid InsertCommand when passed DataRow collection with new rows.
After this I added these lines of code just above the last line:
SqlCommandBuilder cb = new SqlCommandBuilder(adapter);
adapter.InsertCommand = cb.GetInsertCommand;
and I obtained this error:

The form is populated by grabbing a querystring (for example, "edit=10") and searching the primary key for that record. So far so good. I get no errors, but for some reason, it is only updating one field (Last_Updated) instead of all of them.

May 31, 2010I have one big DataTable with X rows. I want to select Y rows from it and bind them to a new ViewList. While doing it, I want to delete these rows from the DataTable (Having X - Y rows).
What is the best and fast way to do it?
I don't know if it is better to create a new DataTable to have the Y and after that bind them to a ViewList or something else?
I'm also looking for example in code how to select/delete rows from DataTable.

Jan 17, 2010i want to build a datagrid bound to a datatable with several columns. One column has only a dropdownlist with the number of the rows in the datatable.

I know how to bind the columns to a grid and its no problem to create such a dropdown list with the content for me, too. But i dont know how to sort the complete datatabl after changing one value of one dropdown listbox.
So, how can i resort the values of a datatable column based on a given value and the datarow id?
