I'm getting this error when trying to connect to SqlServer:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.
(provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
A few points:All was working well 6 hrs before, and I didn't change anything.I get the error anytime I try to connect to a local database (not remote, but I tried anyway to allow remote connections and here's a screenshot of what I get - there's nothing there:

Not sure why it works if i connect to SQL 2005 on another server, but now that i have SQL Express on the same server as the pages, im getting the following error: I have attached my connection string within my web.config and also how its being called within the code behind. Now this page was written by another programmer some time back.. so not sure if the method he used to do this is the best or only way. But i have connected to other SQL database with other applications with alot less code.

The type or namespace name 'MyClass' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

I'm inserting from one table to another, if there are any contraint issues (duplicates found on the VolInterestID and client_id) I want to still insert the ones that are not Duplications. But this terminates the statement if any duplicatiuon is foundIs it possible to do a loop using this insert and pass the where the @client_id and the @clientvol_ID and if it finds a dup just keep going ot e next row?

I have a web page that I am converting from classic ASP to ASP.Net. There are a bunch of "Select" controls (DropDown Boxes) that I am changing to DropDownList controls. I have set the "runat='server'" in all of these controls. However, when I go to the code-behind, they are not visible/accessible. I have tried to "clean" the solution and rebuild it and the controls still won't show.

I have an application that runs on a client's server built on a SQL Server 2005 database.We have now developed an ASP.NET v2 application which connects to this database. This web application will be hosted on an ISP's server but needs to access the SQL Server database on the client's server.
The client's server has a firewall and so forth so I assume it should be possible to make the SQL Server accessible via the Internet but of course I am woriied about security. Can someone point me to some best practices to achieve this.

I am using Visual Studio 2010 for the first time. I program in MS Access for a long time at decide to move to the ASP world. My problem is that I design my first web .aspx default page with a simple data grid. I decided to connect the data via the business object data adapter. I use the Dataset designer to great the dataset. All looks well and works fine on my PC. But when moved to the server I get the Terror "The type specified in the TypeName property of ObjectDataSource not found".
From my reading for the past two days, it seems that something need to be define (a class of some sort) to let ASP know where to find the data adapter. If this is the case, then why did not Visual Studio 2010 did not automatically build the class in the appropriate BIN/ APP_CODE or Global directory and more importantly, why would it work fine on the PC , but not on the server. I am totally blind-sided by Visual Studio 2010 allowing me to design and test on PC but throws me a curl ball with moving to a server. Am I assuming to much from Visual Studio 2010???
What is the solution.. What I am looking for is to know where exactly where and how to write this class. I am so new to ASP, all of my reading just confusing me more and more by reading so many post on this error. I know it is probably a simple class to write somewhere, but why did not Visual Studio 2010 write it accordingly.

I have a dataview on a page. I am binding a list of Items, and each item has a Person object. So I get this exception "field not found in selected datasource" when I try to bind to any property on the person object.

It appears that the dataview is having problems with the person object because it will display all the properties for the Item correctly.
why I get a not found on the boundfield and not on the eval?

I added a new table to my type dataset. When the code tries to execute the new row on that table I get the error message.
(if you can't see the error. "MissingMethodException was caught" "Method not found: 'MyTableDataTable MyNamespace.get_SSCase().")
I've tried the wizard and also click and drag the table from solution explorer to the xsd file. The other tables work, just this one table won't work. What should I check?

I'm trying to create a web server control with a css embedded in the assembly.
I marked it as an embedded resource, add assembly attribute to reference it and use the proper methods to include the link to that
css in html code... my page renders ok witk something like <link href='/WebResources.axd?....' />
That's when the problem appears! My control isn't using the css as it appears to not found webResources.axd
I tried directly in web browser to locate http://locahost/mysite/WebResources.axd and it came with http code 404 NOT FOUND
In my IIS i have uncheked "Verify if file exists" on my extensions mapping related to .axd I add HEAD verb in Web.Config to path WebResources.axd and the result is always the same

I used numeric captcha in my website

It worked correctly in Localhost but when I upload my site on host when I open page that I used captcha for it, it didn't show captcha image so I can't enter captcha in textbox
I use IIS6 but i try your code but again it didn't show any image

I'm having a dumb problem that is killing me. I have created the simpelest custom server control in VS 2008 c# called MyMsgBox. On the ASP page I put it in and register it. But, in the .cs file, when I try to call one of its functions I get the compile error that it is not found. The funny thing is that intellesense has it in the list and all of the functions with their given arguements. At the top of the .cs file I am using the namespace. The code for the custom server control is in the App_Code folder.
Also when I remove all refrences to its functions, the code compiles and when debugging the constructor for the class MyMsgBox gets hit.

I have a page that i created a few weeks back.. had a few controls on the page.. everything worked and works great. Now this past week we had to me some changes to the page, adding a few more controls to the page.. the issue is that now, all the new controls.. (standard .net controls within VS2008) are not accessible from the code behind..
Example, if i add a textbox today to the page.. when i go to the code behind and begin to type textbox1. intellesense doesnt do anything.. and if i complete the line i get a wavy line under it..
In order to gain access to the textbox i have to add this to the code behind
protected Textbox textbox1;

I am using telerik controls in my c# asp.net project. I am trying to disable a div in a telerik navigation menu from the .cs file. For example:

I try run the project I get this error:
CS0103: The name 'DivLeave' does not exist in the current context

I'm trying to keep these questions seperate for people searching after me, .
I have the following code on SelectedIndexChange of GridView1

I have a drop down list that you can choose values from, and depending on which item you pick GridView1 changes, this all works correctly, and if I select one of he rows the SelectedIndex changes. My problem occurs when you choose a different value from the drop down list, GridView1 Changes accordingly, and by default a record is selected. But selectedindexchange is never fired again until I manually select another record from the gridview which is a problem.

I have a gridview, whose columns I am dynamically binding. There are two fixed columns, one is a button field and another is a template field containing an image. The other columns might vary in number and behaviour, so before binding the grid, I am removing all columns of the gridview except the button field and the template field. But after doing this, if i try to do a findcontrol for the template field(Image column), it is notgetting the control. Means while removing the other columns, this image control also getting removed.Below is my code:

I've tried creating checkboxes, literalcontrols and textboxes. I need to generate checkboxes dynamically, depending on how many types of <whatever> the user has put in. I know how to do this (I think), but the problem is the controls don't work as they should.
If I create server controls, then for some reason I can't change the value with javascript. If I create client controls, then something appears to happen with the id so the server can't fetch the value (it doesn't recognize the id, allthough it's there in the html)
I can't use a regular checkbox with autopostback because there is to much happening at page load. On other pages on the site, this works, but on those pages the controls are not created dynamically.

After much research, no solution can be found to do what I want by combining these two controls. Currently, I have a repeater control which, in page_load, takes the querystring and queries the database accordingly, puts the resulst in a datatable, and binds the datatable to the repeater. Everything works fine, no problem there. It's just that I have many columns coming from the query and there are many rows as well. So, I thought it would be easier to incorporate the accordion, so that the header of each accordion pane would show some unique fields (name, whatever...) as the header, and the rest of the many fields in the content. This way, there would be many closed accordion panes showing the name from the row returned. If the pane is clicked, the pane would open and show the rest of the results.
The problems I've had are that the repeater is not accessible from the code behind if it is inside the accordion. But I'm sure I wasn't doing it right anyways. I'm just trying to have an accordion that has as many panes as there are results from a datasource. If there is something other than a repeater that you can suggest, or the correct way to incorporate the repeater in the accordion to do what I want, suggest whatever! I just need to format how the results display how I want, unlike a gridview (I used tables in my normal repeater, and that worked fine, I just need to get that repeater to work inside of the accordion).
(and I know this isn't the section to ask about the accordion, but what is the AccordionExtender? It's not in the toolbox, and I can't find much online. It won't be recognized by Visual Studio, so I don't know what to do. If I could get that, I feel like it could solve my problem, as I found a possible solution online) I don't need to post my code, as it's a simple repeater, and trying to integrate it within the accordion isn't working no matter which way I try since I can't DataBind() in the codebehind. And yes, I tried to FindControl within the accordion but it wouldn't find the repeater.
