DataSource Controls :: Emove Reference To Old Sharepoint Server?
Jan 29, 2010
I'm trying to remove Sharepoint in its entirety from my server (2003). I've uninstalled Sharepoint, but in SQL Server Management Studio, I still have a reference to the OfficeServers database, in the dropdown, though I can't find it anywhere in the SQL Server folder hierarchy
I'm developing an ASP.NET user control in VS2008 that writes to a SQL Server 2005 database. I've published the control to a SharePoint 2007 MOSS page using the SmartPart addon. The control consists of a few text fields and a submit button that writes the contents of the text fields to the database. When I test the control in the Visual Studio debugger, it works fine. When I try to submit data from the SharePoint page, I get the error shown at the end of this post. Last time I saw this, it was a database permissions error, but I've granted my site's default application pool read/write access to my database. Does anyone have any idea what else the problem might be? Also, how can I double-check the credentials that the SharePoint page is using to access the database, since I still suspect that this is a permissions issue?

There is an Excel document that is being updated and stored in a Sharepoint list. I am using the Import wizard in MS SQL to import the Excel data. Since the file is in a list in Sharepoint can I get access to it? I can see the file in Explorer in a web folder, but this file will not import. I have been able to import the file from my hard drive. What is the best solution for this? Should I import the Excel into Sharepoint? How can I get the data stored in the Excel file in Sharepoint into MS SQL?
I have a large string of HTML that I have parsed with a bunch of already formed links in it. I am looking for a quick way to get rid of all of the links to display just the text. Any help or suggestions is appreciated!
i've created a dataset, and created inside it a datatable and its table adapter.
when i try to reference the table adapter in a .cs class i get an error message that i'm missing some namespace:
Compiler Error Message: CS0246: The type or namespace name 'DataSet1TableAdapters' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
In my initial cycle, I put the package configuration on a shared drive. This works great for my dev box and the dev db box, as they have the drive mapped in the same way.Unfortunately, the proposed production server has E mapped elsewhere. "Easy," I thought, "I'll just change to use the UNC version of that path."When I attempt to run the package on my development box, I get an error in BIDS that says it can't copy to the deployment utility output directory. This is wrong, as I delete the file, start the package, and it magically appears in my deployment/bin directory. Itdoes, in fact, copy the file, then has this error.I changed my reference back to the mapped drive, and the build works.
I have downloaded Visual Web Developer 2010 Express and am trying to use LINQ. In order to do that I have added a LINQ to SQL class to the web site and have dragged tables from the database view into the LINQ designer, which worked fine.But..When I add: using System.Data.Linq;to MainPage.xaml.cs, I receive an error:
Error 3 The type or namespace name 'Data' does not exist in the namespace 'System' (are you missing an assembly reference?)Even although I have references to System.Core, System.Data, System.Data.Linq in the website references.
The DELETE statement conflicted with the REFERENCE constraint "FK_EquipmentStatus_MeetEquip". The conflict occurred in database "D:MEETINGROOMAPAPP_DATADATABASE.MDF", table "dbo.EquipmentStatus", column 'Fk_MeetEquip'.
I'm getting this error when i'm trying to delete a listboxitem. It's true that an other table (EquipmentStatus) is using the primary key attached to the listboxitem, but how can i delete all the rows that causes this problem? I've seen an example using stored procedure, but i dont understand it, since i haven't really worked with it before:
ALTER TABLE t2 DROP CONSTRAINT FK_t1id
ALTER TABLE t2 ADD CONSTRAINT FK_t1id FOREIGN KEY (t1id) REFERENCES t1 (t1id) ON DELETE CASCADE
My listbox is using MeetEquip table which p-key is MeetEquip.ID, and the fk-key (which generates the problem) is fk_MeetEquip from EquipmentStatus table.
A :{ id, selfId, name,} where selfId is a foreign key refered to Table A itself.
I generated the Entity automatically like this:
A :{ string id; A self; string name,} when i update the entity in gridview Edit/Update CommandField
i got the exception:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. I guess maybe this is caused by:
A is to be updated, and when the EntityDataSource construct the new A, the reference "self" is invalid at that moment. I do not want to modify my DB structure and do not want to lose the self reference, The event EntityDataSource_Updating is not triggered while the exception hit. so i can not access my entity at any time. Maybe the worst idea is deal the whole Update Procedure myself. However, is there any better workaround?
I'm trying to add a LINQ datasource to my ListView control but it doesn't pick up the data context that I created. All it shows as options in the dropdown list are AJAX objects. What could be the possible causes for this?
I receive the following error in the code below: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. When I am logged into the page I do not receive the error. My Code:
Partial Class _Default Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Protected Sub SqlDataSource4_Selecting(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As SqlDataSourceCommandEventArgs) Handles SqlDataSource4.Selecting Dim MemUser As MembershipUser MemUser = Membership.GetUser() UserID.Text = MemUser.ProviderUserKey.ToString() e.Command.Parameters("@UserId").Value = MemUser.ProviderUserKey.ToString() End Sub End Class
I read the following online: You are trying to use a reference variable who's value is Nothing/null. When the value is Nothing/null for the reference variable, that means it is not actually holding a reference to an instance of any object that exists on the heap. You either never assigned something to the variable, never created an instance of the value assigned to the variable, or you set the variable equal to Nothing/null manually, or you called a function that set the variableto Nothing/null for you. The following is the Arthur's code example and his suggested fix which I am sure is right:
Private Sub TestString() Dim a As String If a.Length = 0 Then Console.Write("Yes") End If End Sub
I have deployed a custom SharePoint Web service on Farm A. I am trying to access this Web service from a SharePoint timer job on Farm B. On Farm B, I am creating Class Library project, packaging it (wsp) and then deploying to GAC. The problem is I'm unable to access the Web Service using the following code. TodaysNewSVC is a service reference
//getNewsFromInsite is a WebMethod which returns the DataTable.
Note: Both farms use the same active directory authentication. I have also done the debugging for Timer Job and feature activation and they are working fine. The problem occurs during the call i.e. getNewsFromInsite The asmx and wsdl files are accessible from Internet Explorer and also from Windows Console application. Here is the code which I use from console application:
GetTodaysnewsfromInsiteSoapClient objWSClient = new GetTodaysnewsfromInsiteSoapClient(); objWSClient.ClientCredentials.Windows.ClientCredential = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultNetworkCredentials;[code]...
Here is the error message:The request failed with the error message: -- <html><head><title>Object moved</title></head><body> <h2>Object moved to <a href="%2fPages%2fproblem-with-page.aspx%3fc%3d500">here</a>.</h2> </body></html>
I'm trying to insert a new EF object containing a reference to a related table via foreign key, and cannot get the reference stored in the new object. I have two tables in a SQL Server 2008 Database:
Component Templates PartGroups
with a Foreign Key linking them thus: ComponentTemplates:ID [0..1<->*] PartGroups:ComponentTemplateID
I have imported these tables into a .NET web application project .edmx file (using a new ADO.NET Entity Data Model), and then created a Data Service which I then reference in a Silverlight 3.0 project. The objects are available as expected in the data context called by my Silverlight app and load correctly. Now, when I try to save a reference of ComponentTemplate into a newly created PartGroup, the PartGroup object is created in the database, but the value of ComponentTemplateID in the newly created table record is NULL.
[Code]....
(Note that _ctCtrl.ComponentTemplate is a confirmed non-NULL object reference to the parent object on which PartGroup is a child)
am working working on an httpmodule to hide certain content on my website if certain criteria are not met. My handler setup is pretty simple. Here are the relevant parts to my question:
Public Interface IFeatureItem Property ID As Guid Sub FeatureItemPreRenderComplete(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) End Interface.....
This site has an mvc view for a dashboard and also contains webforms controls that could be an IFeatureItem. What I want to do is loop through the webforms controls in this view and do the same processing on them as I would on a normal page, but I can't figure out a way to do so and have had no luck googling. Is this possible within a module? Is PreRequestHandlerExecute the right event to set up my event handlers?
Every thing is fine but when I execute the project, NO control on my user control gets "instantiated" and thus I receive error "Object Reference Not Set"
Note that My Control has,
1) Public property PublicProperty as String
2) 1 Label control
In Load Event Handler I am setting Text property of Label Control to PublicProperty. Here object reference NOT set error occurs (which means Label control is NOT initialized).I don't want to register my control using Src, TagPrefix etc.
I have an asp.net control that contains a grid view sitting on top of an Ajax update panel. The control has been added to a sharepoint page. When a button is clicked, some server code is called to store the contents of the grid. If the server code throws an error, I want to spit out a javascript alert displaying the error message, but for some reason the error that bubbles up from the server is the generic 500 server error, which doesn't contain any details of the original error.
Following error comes when creating a WebPart In sharePoint 2010 Server.

I"m using table adapters here. I tried to use the following in my table adapter:
ALTER TABLE tblAdvanceLInk DROP FOREIGN KEY FK_tblAdvanceLink_tblLink DELETE FROM [tblAdvanceLink] WHERE WebsiteID=@WebsiteID
The DELETE statement conflicted with the REFERENCE constraint "FK_tblAdvanceLink_tblLink". The conflict occurred in database "LinkExchanger", table "dbo.tblAdvanceLink", column 'LinkID'. The statement has been terminated
I get the same problem every time. So I read you could do this in a sql query. Why doesn't this work in my tableadapter? Do I have this in the right place? Do I also put this into the other table? (tblLInk) Isn't there a way to just relax ALL constraints so I can delete some rows? I'm deleting rows from both tables which have the corresponding websiteID
I downloaded a sample Rolodex from here: [URL] the file to download is at the bottom of the page and it is called 'RolodexDatalist.zip (6.71 kb)' So I changed the HTML to it points to my SQL Server DB. I changed the ConnectionString to this:
Now, everything points to my DB! I thought, ok great, this should be pretty easy. However, when I debug, I get this error message: 'Null reference was unhandled by user code. Object reference not set to instance of an object. Troubleshooting Tips: use the "new" keyword to set an instance of an object.' This line is yellow:
