DataSource Controls :: Use A Calendar To Pick A Date To Store In MSSQL Database?
Feb 5, 2010
I use a calendar to pick a date that I want to store in my MSSQL Database. I use the form format, like 2010-01-27 (european date format) with no time info. What MS SQL Date-type should I store this date in?
Say If got these dates in a TextBox 2010/06/19,2010/06/20,2010/06/21,2010/06/22,2010/06/23, i want automicly my Start label to pickpup the lowest date and Label End to pickup the highest Date Start: [2010/06/19] End: [2010/06/23] between brackets is my label
If i want to make any changes in db structure or need to modify any data values, i have to login remotely to my server and has to open sql server management studio do db change or value editing stuffs. Its really getting iritating when the remote machine looks slow.
I just want to know how to configure the db hostname like dbname.domainname.com or mssql.domainname.com in server, so that we can open the server db in local using sql server management studio.
The application installed in windows server 2008 and using IIS 7.0 & SQL Server 2008
I have to build a screen that tracks despatched goods on trucks on a certain date. I have created a form (using C# and ASP.NET) where I am displaying the calendar and am allowing the user to select the date he wants to check for the despatched goods.
My question is how to store the date that was clicked by a user in a variable which I want to use it later in an SQL query.
Should I store the date as a session variable? Suppose I want to display the date that the user clicked, how do I display it?
I have a gridview in which am binding all the values from database and when am editing the gridview by taking a ajax calendar extender in edititemtemplate its giving me this error.
I have some issues about retrieveing and storing date information to my database (ms sql server 2005).My data column is a DateTime, and i have set my web.config globalization culture is set to "en-gb"
When i retrieve date from the datebase it appears as dd/MM/yy, that's fine. But i cannot insert a new date as same format?! It will only accept MM/dd/yy or yy/mm/dd.Right now i'm using this code to correct the error:
[Code]....
Is it possible to change the date format on the database or something, so i dont need to use this code?
Is it better to store images directly in a database or to just store the name of the file in the db and display that file? I would think that just storing the filename of the image would keep the db size low...
I have a table which contain products, I want each record in the table to have an image. I've created the field with the datatype image. How to I manually add image to the table ?
I am about to get my sites hosted with a local host company. They are offering me their lowest cost MSSQL server, which is the web edition. So my question is what is the difference between that and 2008 express edition? Can express edition be used for a full fledge in production website? And does Web implies that I will be interacting with it via the web correct. Lastly, if the web version is not chosen what is the typical protocol for uploading and maintaining a site when you have a dedicated server. Do you normally have to go to the data center or is there like a web portal that can be used. I will be asking the guys at the company these questions as well, but I want to make sure I get another opinion on the issue.
Is it possible to pick both the date and time with an ajax calendar extender? If so, how? If not any ideas are welcome in getting both the date and time into a datetime field of a textbox.
I am trying to store data from an XML file to a table in my database, but I keep getting the same error.
This is my code from the cs file:
[Code]....
And this is my error:
Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_Areas'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.Areas'.
The statement has been terminated.
In my XML file I have both existing rows and new rows for the database table. I'm guessing I have to do something to sort out the the rows that are not already in the database, but so far I have been unsuccessful to figure this out.
my problem is my asp.net and C#.net application should read flat files(.txt,.doc) from folder automatically and read the data from file and stored into database
my file like this :
BNK20100312APPHU6658994 // BNK,20100312(date),Ap,PHU6658994 So we have to store these.. BNK20100312APPRU5104220 BNK20100312APPRU5761800 BNK20100312APPZU3739288 BNK20100312APPZU4454037 BNK20100312APESU2552894 BNK20100312APAXU4302543 BNK20100312APCKU1613369
I am selecting time from dropdownlist. and want to convert it in datetime and store it in database. When I am converting it to Datetime using following statement.
On a website I'm building user's can subscribe to newsletters by entering their email address into a form and submitting. This will then add them to a 'Newsletter_Subscribers' table in the database.
Users can also sign-up to the website by entering their username/password/email details. They also have the option of subscribing to the newsletter. If they choose to do this then their email address is added to the 'Newsletter_Subscribers' table.
However, I wish to make the data more consistent rather than storing the email address into two different unrelated tables in the database.
Has anyone tackled this issue before, and what is the best way to go about storing this information?
One idea I had was to have a 'Users' table, a 'Users.Members' table and a 'Users.Subscribers' table. All three would have a relating UserID column, with the email address stored in the 'Users' table but I'm not sure this is the best method as I would also wish to store the Username/Password in the 'Users' table in case we had a 'Users.Advertisers' table for example.
I need to store time in database and then show in using gridview.I wonder how to store and show data so that user will see correct datetime depanding on his timezone?
I have to create a simple application which scans, displays and stores the info from a barcode. I have been able to sort the scanning and display part of this application but I need to know how to store the infromation entered into a textbox to a database and then be able to display the stored data as a list at a later stage.E.G. Once the "STORE" button is clicked, the information/text within the textbox is stored to a database. Once the "VIEW STORED DATA" button is clicked, the stored information in the database is displayed as a list.I am a complete beginner when it comes to creating web applications using asp.net. Also, the type of database to use (i.e. sql, wamp.etc) and how to link it to my application is also puzzling.

Is it a good idea to create a document managament system that stores all kinds of documents inside sql server database. This will have infrastructure to accomodate all kinds of applicartions..
In my application I have a formview, used for inserting/editing records in a product details table.
My problem is now, that one of the fields is used for the filename of a productimage, uploaded to a folder on the server from another page.
When inserting - or editing - a record, it should be possible somehow to get list of the files in the productimages folder, select one, and then store the filename (no path needed) in the database. basically I need some kind of 'file-picker' to select the filename and put it into a textbox. It could be anything from a dropdownlist to something more sofisticated - as long as I can include it in my formview.
