Aug 25, 2010I'm trying to import an Excel file into a datatable. It works fine most of the time. However, I get this error when there are more than 255 columns in the Excel file. The columns are empty (after about 6 or so), but since they've been formatted it sees them anyway.My question is, is there any way around this? Can I limit the amount of columns somehow? Unfortunately, I can't just remove the columns in the Excel document, as this is being designed for users to upload documents, so I have to account for this possibility (even though most of the time there will be maximum 20 columns).Here is the code I'm using:

I've read a lot of forum posts and almost all of them mentioned ab out the connectionstring being wrong. However, when i ran the codes on my local machine, there were no errors. The error only show when i was running on windows server 2003.
Print Out The Exact Update Statement That Occurs In A SqlDataSource?

I have a gridview that is using a SQLdataSource with an update statement and I am able to print out the update statement listed in the SQLDataSource by doing this:

but for some reason the record is not being updated so I want to know how do I print out the entire Update statement, including the value of the EmailAddressID to make certain that the update statement is being set correctly?
I can test the update statement above manually, taking the EmailAddressID for that record and then run the update statement manually using SQL Server Mgmt then it updates the record correctly so I know the update statement set in the SQLDataSource is ok. However I still want to print out the update statement that is supposed to be executed in the vb code, how to do this?
I see there is an event called "SqlDataSource1_Updating",
is it possible to print out the actual update statement there?
Just to be clear in the asp.net page I want to do something to print out the actual full update statement, ex:

Nov 29, 2010at present our site has a search function which then populates a grid with results from our catalogue database... I'm trying to implement product availability into the grid, but the stock information is stored in a completely different database in a different location. Both the main search results and the stock levels have to be referenced in the same datasource to get them both in the same grid; does anyone have any thoughts on how to do this? I'm not hugely experienced with SQL, but could I create a view containing aspects of both db's or are these limited to a single db?

May 27, 2010I'm having problem getting the syntax right for an SQL statement for a Progress database. I have the column "Resource" which is a reserved word and according to the Openedge SQL Reference I can only use reserved words if I delimit them with double quotation marks.
So how do I write this line...

...with double quotes around Resource? I've tried a bunch of different combinations but I get "Expression expected" or "valid continuation expected" or something similar.

So I have two tables one that stores the catergory names and one that holds the paths to the photos and downloads the tables are related through the catergoryID.
What I need is those catergories to show up in the photo's and downloads table so that when I go to upload the photos I will be able to select the categories.
I have also built the DataSet and the Business Logic.

At the moment it is producing each result in many rows when only 4 rows should appear. its the download column that is doing it. needs to be sub queried or something to display total in relation to month,gameid,userid.

Mar 6, 2011A follow up question concerning the DAL layer part .. The first question about dealing with large objectsI have one table (PlacesTable) that is connected by like 6 other tables (1:Many and Many:Many relations)
In my DAL should I put a big query that join the 6 tables + the m:m reference tables (btw it produces multiple data that I don't need Please refer to my old question) and place all the data in it's specific object property or, should I use a single query for each table and create an object for each fetched table .. and finally send those to the UI ?If I wasn't clear enough please let me know what I further information do you need to know!
