i've recognized that on google chrome browser every second postback of my asp.net application is a bit slow (~1 seconds)... every other shows up immediately. internet explorer is doing fine on every postback!
I'm at my wits end on this one looked/Searched/Played/Experimented and I need your help if you can. This page is going to be primarily used on a mobile device using Win Mobile 5 Need to Accomplish:Prevent Postback(serverside) of Page using JavaScript (Postback's slow down the page on mobile device)
I have a situation where I need to have close to 30 drop down lists on one form. The user also wants the autocomplete functionality. I decided to use the ASP.NET AJAX control. So that the page will load faster I hide them until they are needed. But, as more and more become visible the postback time is getting longer and longer.
I know this can be fixed, but I'm not sure how. Can anyone give me any advice, point me to some articles? Do you have a suggestion for another method of doing what I need? Maybe, I shouldn't even be using ComboBoxes for this?
I'm doing a postback to generate a chart. When the user clicks the button it is using jQuery to add some html to the page to show an animated gif and an overlay.
This works fine in IE and FF but in Chrome the image doesn't load. Anybody know what's going on here?
While looking into the problem I noticed that if I run this code in the JavaScript console it works, and it will work as expected after running it in the console (displays image on postback).
I am creating one of my first Asp.Net tools and I ran in to a small bump. Currently I am doing a postback on a buttonclick which does some server-side calculations. The server-side code then uses those calculations to alter the contents of a div. In IE and Firefox when a postback happens, the div updates as expected. However, in chrome all postbacks do a complete refresh of the entire page. What is causing this and is there a way around this behavior?
Update: ClientSide I have the following.. <asp:Button ID="Button2" Style="float: right" runat="server" OnClick="S_ButtonClick" Text="Calculate" />
It is possible that when this postback(if I understand this correctly) happens, that it is still fully reloading in firefox and ie, but it doesn't show it. This effectively masks the postback. However, when I test in chrome, any postback completely blanks the page before reloading the state. Hopefully this clears up exactly what I am asking. Also, my C#/.Net usage might be slightly flawed and I am willing to take comments on such.
I have 2 textboxes and a submit button inside a .net composite server control. I tried to only postback when submit button is clicked. I set autopostback = false for both textboxes. But either one still trigger submit button's onclick event by hitting "Enter" inside textbox. How can I stop postback by enter key?
When an asynchronous postback happened inside update panel, another postback happens also for MasterPagenot only update panel embedded page .I want to prevent this MasterPage postback . is this possible ?think like i have a MasterPage and another page which is test.aspx which is content page of MasterPagei have update panel at test.aspxwhen asynchronous postback happens at this test.aspx update panel it also loads MasterPage Page_Loadi want to prevent this (it should not also load MasterPage Page_Load)
why is it that when i debug my application in chrome it is relatively slow between postbacks compared to internet explorer? when i use internet explorer, its lightning fast.
I have a problem with the performance of the web site-application . The major problem is when i hit the site from a long distance remote pc all server side events responces are too slow espesially the gridview (paging) , the point is when i used ajax update panel of asp.net it was more slower .
I have a strange situation on a production server. Connection for asp.net get queued but the CPU is only at 40%. Also the database runs fine at 30% CPU.
Some more history as requested in the comments:
In the peak hours the sites gets around 20,000 visitors an hour. The site is an asp.net webforms application with a lot of AJAX/POSTs The site uses a lot of User generated content We measure the performance of the site with a testpage which does hit the database and the webservices used by the site. This page get served within a second on normal load. Whe define the application as slow when the request takes more than 4 seconds. From the measurements we can see that the connectiontime is fast, but the processing time is large. We can't pinpoint the slowresponse the a single request, the site runs fine during normal hours but gets slow during peak hours We had a problem that the site was CPU bound (aka running at 100%), we fixed that We also had problems with exceptions maken the appdomain restart, we fixed that do During peak hours I take a look at the asp.net performance counters. We can see behaviour that we have 600 current connections with 500 queued connections. At peak times the CPU is around 40% (which makes me the think that it is not CPU bound) Physical memory is around 60% used At peak times the DatabaseServer CPU is around 30% (which makes me think it is not Database bound)
My conclusion is that something else is stopping the server from handling the requests faster. Possible suspects:
Deadlocks (!syncblk only gives one lock) Disk I/O (checked via sysinternals procesexplorer: 3.5 mB/s) Garbage collection (10~15% during peaks) Network I/O (connect time still low)
To find out what the proces is doing I created to minidumps.
I managed to create two MemoryDumps 20 seconds apart. This is the output of the first:
!threadpool CPU utilization 6% Worker Thread: Total: 95 Running: 72 Idle: 23 MaxLimit: 200 MinLimit: 100 Work Request in Queue: 1 Number of Timers: 64
and the output of the second:
!threadpool CPU utilization 9% Worker Thread: Total: 111 Running: 111 Idle: 0 MaxLimit: 200 MinLimit: 100 Work Request in Queue: 1589
I am developing sample web application which use C#, and LINQ to SQL. The application is very very slow and it takes about 2 secs to navigate between pages. I have already used SQL Profiler and monitor the calls to the SQL server. All SQLs looks normal to me and their execution time is always about 1 or 2 millisecs.I tried the same application in another PC and it is the same. So, it is not because of my computer performance.
I have created a website with asp.net 3.5 and c# (using linq to sql). its a basically a project managment system. bt its very slow when u look at its loading time. my dashboard takes a whole lot of time to load.when i look at other sites created by my colleagues it loads much faster than my site. they have developed it using ado.net + Stored procedures. that made me believe that linq to sql is slower than ado.net + SP combination.to improve my site perfomance using linq to sql.
Dim iCounter as Integer Dim iQuantity as Integer = 10 Protected Sub btnFoo_Click Handles btnFoo Yadda For i as Integer = iCounter to iQuantity - 1 //do something with AsyncPostBackTrigger until iCounter = iQuantity - 1 //then trigger a full postback Next End Sub
I am new to the concept and feel like there must be something really easy that I am missing.
i hit a case when my page loading is very very slow. I have find out that my page is slow for no reason. The read data process from database is fast and all the server code execute quite fast. The problem is the page loading process is slow, very slow. I am thinking one of the possible cause is jquery itself.
i see that my site is a little slow in my localhost it is fast but in the server not but i see that videos are displayed without problems so i dont think that is from bandwith but i am not sure which are the main things that make a page go slow? sessions can be one of that?? or connections with database??or something else?
When i switch an ASP.Net Formview from readonly mode to edit mode it takes more than 6 seconds(from edit to readonly takes a split second). I have no idea whats the reason for it. The EditItemTemplate contains a lot of controls(table, textboxes, dropdownlists) but in fact not more than the ItemTemplate has. Yet i have even commented out the complete FormView.DataBound where the controls are data bounded but without significant change. My ASP.Net Web Apllication is using Ajax and the Formview is completely nested in an UpdatePanel. Any suggestions or assumptions for this behaviour?
EDIT: I have removed all Ajax Controls from the EditItemtemplate and now it performs as fast as the Itemtemplate. What can be the reason for it? Following controls removed:
im Developing a site since a very long time,Using a remote database Connection.Previously site in local machine runs fast. But now a days even login takes morethan a min (in Local) but on hosting it runs as fast as it was
I've set up a msSQL remote connection on a GoDaddy shared hosting account (known as Direct Database Access).I'm doing some javascript/HTML/css work on the site and don't need/want to have to download/manage a separate database. The remote connection works and the pages load as expected. However, each time I request a DB driven page in my browser it takes about 2-4 minutes before the page is sent/downloaded.Could this be a limitation set by godaddy to discourage connecting to the database remotely? Is there anyway to set up a "proxy" on the production server to get the query results? Are there any alternative methods for connecting to the DB you could suggest?Should I just stop whining about it and setup a local copy of the database?
