Forms Data Controls :: Bind ObjectDataSource ControlParameter To EditItemTemplate Textbox
Mar 11, 2010
I have an ObjectDataSource with a number of parameters. These parameters are binded in my FormView EditItemTemplate and the ItemTemplate. My Stored Procedure column names in my ItemTemplate are different to the Bind properties used in the EditItemTemplate. This is obviously throwing an exception when I update a record.
Instead of using Bind("Columne Name") in my EditItemTemplate how do I use a ControlParameter to reference a TextBox in the EditItemTemplate?
I may be wrong but I'm trying to use the PropertyName=Controls but i do not know how to reference the Textbox in the EditItemTemplate.
Everything was good before I bumped into the problem when declarative binding (SelectedValue='<# Bind("SvcCluster_Id") >') produced the error, because value has not been found in the list. So i moved binding to the code:
protected void frmConfigEdit_DataBound(Object sender, System.EventArgs e) { if (frmConfigEdit.CurrentMode == FormViewMode.Edit) { var svcCluster_id = DataBinder.Eval(frmConfigEdit.DataItem, "SvcCluster_id"); var ddlCluster = (DropDownList)frmConfigEdit.FindControl("ddlCluster"); if (svcCluster_id != null && ddlCluster.Items.FindByValue(svcCluster_id.ToString()) != null) { ddlCluster.SelectedValue = svcCluster_id.ToString(); } } }
But now seems like this happens later than ObjectDataSource tries to access frmConfigEdit$ddlCluster...
How to manage this?
I wouldn't like to move everything to the code (I mean creating Control parameters, etc)
p.s. Oops, actually it works ok for DataBound event! Sorry.
Using Visual Web Developer Express 2010 with ASP.NET 4.0.
I have a FormView and I want to set a default value from the database. I can't get it to bind to the value in the database. My FormView looks like this:
[Code]....
The EditItemTemplate does not even load when I click the edit button on my FormView control, but I don't get an error message either.
I am using objectdatasource to bind datagrid,i m using select method of objectdatasource and manage paging (page size 10) and command event also,i have define MaximumRowsParameterName and StartRowIndexParameterName but now problem is when i am trying to delete 11th record from second page and again bind same grid than i coudn't fine rest of 10 records and get no records found.
I have requirement to bind ASP.Net DropDownList control in EditItemTemplate of GridView.
I preferred the tutorial:
[URL]...
i have followed same steps just but difference is i have a edit imagebutton with commandname="Edit".Also dropdown needs to be binded from different table(directory) and not the table through whicch grid is binded(details).
if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow && (e.Row.RowState & DataControlRowState.Edit) == DataControlRowState.Edit && GridView1.EditIndex == e.Row.RowIndex) { DropDownList DStatusEdit = (DropDownList)e.Row.FindControl("DStatusEdit"); string query = "select distinct status from directory"; SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(query); DStatusEdit.DataSource = GetData(cmd);
[CODE]..
the page is running but when i click edit image button the dropdwn shows but no data in dropdown binded it is empty.
My gridview is inside update panel.
How can i achieve this?
Should dropdownlist in my case be binded inside rowcommand and how?
I have a gridview and it has two EditItemTemplates. I want to update the items inside the second dropdown (EditItemTemplate) when I select an item from the first dropdownlistbox (EditItemTemplate). I want to update dropdownlist2 when I select an item from dropdownlist1. How can I do this?
Before i talk about my situation or problem let me tell you all that i'm new to ObjectDataSource, ListView.
i've following controls
Three LinkButtonOne ObjectDataSource Control (which is binded to custom Business object) . Paging is enabledListView (This is binded with ObjectDataSource Control)
Requirements:
By default ObjectDataSource should be bounded to DataSource A, thus the user should see on page load the default data from DataSource A.When user Clicks on respective LinkButton, the ObjectDataSource should now be binded to new DataSource B, thus the user should now see data in ListView from DataSource B. The same should happen with LinkButton C respecctively
I successfully bind ListView DataSourceID to ObjectDataSource but it binds only initially on Page_Load event. When I want to bind another data through a Button_Click event, the new data doesn't bind.
aspx code:
[Code]....
Codebehind:
[Code]....
On Page_Load, I get result:
A1 <hr /> T1 A2 <hr /> T2 A3 <hr /> T3
When I Button1_Click, nothing happens, no error, no any more results and _airLineData is 53 records, not 3 records (A1T1 to A3T3) I want the binding to be with DataSourceID to ObjectDataSource (not through DataSource property and control.DataBind() method)
I have a textbox inside edit template and it is binded with the data. Somehow, textbox data starts from the middle instead at the beginning of the box. I can use textarea where it starts from the starting point but I cant bind the data inside the gridview.
I have used TinyMCE Rich TextBox in my application but in my web form i have mulitple multi-line Text-Box. what i want that Rich TextBox should be bind to only one text box not all TextBoxes.
I've created a query in the table adapter for retrieving customer name based on the first letter. The query is executed fine, and the output is the customer name and ID. A Customer BLL accesses this query, and sends the results to an objectdatasource. This control is configured to use this customer-by-letter query. However for some reason, this objectdatasource does not bind the name and ID, but instead all the other fields produced by the main query in the table adapter (i.e. name, address, phone, etc....).
I'm probably not configuring something correctly, but I'm not sure what.
I am having a problem with using A Gridview SectedIndex or value in a sql ControlParameter. When I select the row it does what I need it to except it shows that there is no data.
but if I add Default Value of 1 the data shows up, but it needs to read from the Gridview.
[Code]....
I even added sqlDataSource.DataBind() in the SelectedIndexChanged Event to see if that would fix it but - No! I used it with a DropDown and it worked only when I use AutoPostBack = true of course.
How can we bind an observableCollection to textbox that has been created dynamically generated, so any value that has been entered in textbox should be updated in my collection...
Inside the OnItemCreated event (of the repeater), I get the ID of the textbox that I want to bind to the ControlParameter. I realized that using the ID alone was not working. I get a message saying something like "can't find txtBoxName in ControlParameter". I read somewhere that if I view the page source of the browser, then use the value in the Name attribute of the textbox (for the controlId property of the controlParameter), it works. But I also noticed that when I use a textbox outside the repeater, I could just use the ID of the textbox (without having to use page source to get the name, which is different from the ID in the aspx page, of the textbox).

I have a gridview tied to a sqlDataSource. I want to filter it using FilterExpression of SqlDataSource. The controlParameter that I want to use is dropdownList SelectedItem.Value. This value is an integer. I am getting this exception: System.Data.EvaluateException:{"Cannot perform '=' operation on System.Int32 and System.String."}
I am working on a project and I need to use Master/Details view, the problem is everything works fine except when I place the Master (gridview) and Details(FromView) in different content holder.
The error I get is:
Could not find control 'GridView1' in ControlParameter 'ID'.
Description:
