I want to dynamically populate data in Dropdown box in the Edititemtemplate of the Listview. The below code is showing error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". The problem is in Findcontrol function. How to solve this.
I have a dropdown list within a listview 'EditItemTemplate' and 'InsertItemTemplate" which I am trying to populate from the database with code behind with ItetmDataBound event. Problem is I am getting NullException when I use this code which works fine for ItemTemplate.
I have a gridview and it has two EditItemTemplates. I want to update the items inside the second dropdown (EditItemTemplate) when I select an item from the first dropdownlistbox (EditItemTemplate). I want to update dropdownlist2 when I select an item from dropdownlist1. How can I do this?
I have an ObjectDataSource with a number of parameters. These parameters are binded in my FormView EditItemTemplate and the ItemTemplate. My Stored Procedure column names in my ItemTemplate are different to the Bind properties used in the EditItemTemplate. This is obviously throwing an exception when I update a record.
Instead of using Bind("Columne Name") in my EditItemTemplate how do I use a ControlParameter to reference a TextBox in the EditItemTemplate?
I may be wrong but I'm trying to use the PropertyName=Controls but i do not know how to reference the Textbox in the EditItemTemplate.
I am trying to populate the ListView using LinqDataSource data source but the issue I am having is.I need to load the listview on Search button click action.
IN the page_load I kept like this: =========================================== LinqDS.Selecting += new EventHandler<LinqDataSourceSelectEventArgs>(LinqDS_Selecting);
protected void LinqDS_Selecting(object sender, LinqDataSourceSelectEventArgs e) { e.Result = ObjectDS; } ============================================= This works fine but this happens on page load,i want this binding to happen on button click?is there a way to do this?
I have a textbox inside edit template and it is binded with the data. Somehow, textbox data starts from the middle instead at the beginning of the box. I can use textarea where it starts from the starting point but I cant bind the data inside the gridview.
I have a set of controls that enable the user to search one of two fields in a given SQL Server table. The ddlSearch dropdownlist specifies the field to search. The txtSearch textbox contains the search string. I have the following code working fine, except search string isn't being passed to my listview:
[Code]....
I tried adding a DataBind after End Using, but the listview still won't provide the search results. Note that I also have an EntityDataSource on page.
Am I adding this to the wrong event? Should this code be added to PageLoad instead of click event of Submit button? What other issues should I address? Is it possible for ListView to handle the search by itself? That is, do I even need other dropdownlist and textbox controls, or is there functionality builit into the listview control to search? Finally, can I enable a checkbox for each returned item? I will need this so that the user can select items to add to their order.
search form!Have no idea how to do it.Hope the example says much about how it should operate!Profile search where the result will come out in a list view.theusers should be able to filter between firstname, lastname, age, gender.right now I have this!Search page
I'm working on a job seeking website where the job seeker can search for a job , the search box is located in the master page, that's why i passed the keywords as a query string, and then the matching jobs will be displayed in a listview.
the keywords will be taken from two controls: a drop down list which the user can choose the location of the job, and a text box where he can type a keyword.
the select command of the sqlDataSource of the data list is as the following:
I have a page with a ListView and when users need to edit an item, it works and updates just fine in edit mode. However, one thing that I don't want is every item from ItemTemplate to display in edit mode, which it's doing right now. Is there a way to limit the EditItemTemplate to only one item--that for which the edit button was clicked? I have the pager activated in LayoutTemplate so I have a suspicion that the pager may have to be inactivated by code-behind when edit mode is entered.
The following code represents an EditItemTemplate in my ListView. My problem is that when I click the Update button, everything updates but then the display doesn't go to the ItemTemplate. According to Microsoft: "By default, theListView control returns to read-only mode after an update operation."
I have a table called "publication" which contains records about Sharkspeare's plays, there are columns called "type", "nortonoxfordnumber", "nortonoxfordtext" and "character". What I like to achieve is to allow users to search the data using both dropdownlist and the textbox. i.e., the listitems of the dropdownlist are Othello, Tempest and twelfth night. Users should be able to type a keyword such as "music" to search within the particular play say "Othello" from the dropdownlist.
I would like to add button click function, and I know that I need to use the query with "and" and LIKE, but I am not sure how to do it as I keep getting the syntext error.
I managed to get some code done, however, I only managed to be able to search one column at the time, here is my code:
I have the grid view with boundfield with four columns. I created the text box when gridview row created event. I need to filter the data the gridview using the textbox and need to know the how to generate event for textbox.
I have a gridview that holds a bunch of companies (600 of them). I have a textbox under the gridview so people could type in a partial name of the company and basically do a search on the gridview. My problem is that when I run the page the only thing that shows is my search textbox, I'm assuming this is because I have setup the SQLDataSource to filter based on this textbox. I'd like the grid to be filled when the user opens the page and only filtered when the user type something in the textbox and hits go. Does anyone have an example of that in VB that I could look at?
i want to filter the gridview on textchange in search textbox. if i press "a" the gridview should filled up with record starting with "a". i have some code
SqlDataSource1.SelectCommand = "select * from DeptMaster where DeptName like '" + TextBox1.Text + "%'"; SqlDataSource1.SelectCommandType = SqlDataSourceCommandType.Text; GridView1.DataSource = SqlDataSource1; GridView1.DataBind();
its working while leaving the textbox but i want this code should execute on keypress event.
I have a listview that is retrieving some values from a database and showing them. The information are; product name, price, etc. At the end of each row, I have a textbox and a button. Within the textbox the user is able to insert how many items he wants of that particular item and by clicking the button I want the value from the textbox retrieved. It may be relevant to mention that with the button is a event attached (OnClick) which is where I want the value of the textbox to be retrieved. The part that is giving me problem is retrieving the textbox value for that specific row when the button is clicked.
I have a textbox and a gridview which is bound to a table what I want to achieve is a solution where lets say there are two records - e.g. "1. Book and 2. Red", i want a user to type in those words and the gridview shows the results as followed;
1. Book 2. Red
I have set up the sql data source and everything and my like operator is this.
I want to toggle a Textbox to be visible (true, false) contained within an InsertItemTemplate based on the data being Null/Empty.
It Works in the Item Template since it is calling the "select parameters", but once it is in the "insert parameters" on databinds, I am unable to get this to work.
I have a ListView control that makes use of a DataPager. In each row of the ListView there is a text box where the user will enter some notes relevant to that particular record. Then they use the DataPager to navigate to the second page of records. If they then return back to the first page in the ListView the text they entered is gone.
Question: Is there a way (through use of a paging event or databound event maybe?) to retain the textbox values between paging events ?
I would like the user to be able navigate backward or forward and still see the text heshe has entered.
want to find textbox inside InsertItemTemplate in listview there are two list view want to find textbox in the second listview that is inside listview i used that code but told me that there is error.
