Forms Data Controls :: Calling User Defined Grid Control Two Time's On A Page?
Mar 11, 2011
i created a user control and place a button on it.i drag dropped the user control on a aspx page and wrote the grid load and button clicks in the
user control.now i got a requirement to use the same user control grid and button to again use on the same page.however the data populated will be different and the button click functionality will be different.how can i reload the different data on the second grid as i had already wrote the code in the first one
i create a composite control as can be seen in code below, and add this control to webform, assign FormView1 to the HeaderControlName property, Run the page, the system will generate parse error message : Cannot create an object of type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.FormView' from its string representation 'FormView1' for the 'HeaderControlName' property. However, if i don't assign FormView1 in design screen and manually (through coding) assign FormView1 to the custom control on init, it works as expected.
custom control public class CmdTest : CompositeControl { public virtual FormView HeaderControlName { get { object oObject = ViewState["HeaderControlName"]; return (oObject == null) ? null : (FormView)oObject; } set { ViewState["HeaderControlName"] = value; } } protected override void CreateChildControls( { Controls.Clear(); Button xx = new Button(); Controls.Add(xx); } } webpage.aspx (assign FormView1 in design time, it will generate error) <Utils:CmdTest ID="CmdTest1" runat="server" HeaderControlName="FormView1" /> webpage.aspx (didn't assign FormView1 in ASPX, but assign it on Init Code, it works) <Utils:CmdTest ID="CmdTest1" runat="server" oninit="CmdTest1_Init" /> Webpage.aspx.cs protected void BsCmdTest1_Init(object sender, EventArgs e) { CmdTest1.HeaderControlName = FormView1; }
I have a page called main.apsx and on that page I have a multiview with a couple of view panes. In main.aspx I also have an have a buttons.ascx file with a few link buttons. When these buttons are clicked I want them to show the the selected view panels in multiview in main.aspx.
I cant seem to figure out where to put the action code for the link buttons. Do I put it into my buttons.ascx.cs file or into main.aspx.cs? I presume in buttons.ascx.cs, but if I do that, how will the buttons find the multiview control?
This is the code for on of my buttons in buttons.ascx.cs
[Code]....
When I run it like this is gives an error
The name 'MultiView1' does not exist in the current
I am developing an application in which I have to use a User Control.I have created a user control in which I am using
- A Label (whose text will be dynamic) - 3 Textboxes (whose values will be also dynamic).
So far everything is working fine. Now I used this user control in a aspx page and at the page_load i have to loop thru all the instance of this user control and assign values to them and here the problem begins. The values are not being assigned to the controls.
Here is the code which i have written to loop thru User Control instances and assign values to them.
Does anyone know how I would go about calling a method found in the master page code behind from a user control's code? The user control is on the master page. The method I want to call is public.
I can easily call a method found in the pages code behind using:
I have an aspx page which has an usercontrol say UC1 for selecting query paramters.
UserControl uc1 in turn opens another user control (UC2) as a modal popup.
1. On OK click, I am setting the values of another usercontrol (uc1) from the control uc2 by invoking a page method(doAccept). It appears to call the method and values seems to be set. But the problem the usercontrol/page does not display the new value or in otherwords it is not refreshed.
If the above is not possible is there any other way to refresh the parent page.
My problem is that I have a grid view that show the data from database. In my gridview i add a column name date .like eg You knw that when we send a scrap to anyone then show time how much time to send a scrap.
I am dynamically loading user controls into my main page on button event. The user control has a textbox and a gridview When i enter data in textbox , the autopostback event fires and loads data into the gridview. when i load another instance of user control and do any post back the gridview data is not persisting.Until and unless I bind the data, gridview is not having any data after postback. This is creating issue when I al updating a row in gridview as data is not persisting after postback.
In my project, I need to create a user control to handle the sorting and pagination of all the grids in the application. The grid however will be different in different pages with different formatting.
I am able to do this by exposing a property from user control which takes gridview as the input.
then in page load, i bind this grid, and assign the sorting and paging event handlers to this gridview variable.
This way I am able to do the sorting and paging, but the problem is I have to bind the grid in all the post backs, and then in the sorting and paging events.
So when a user sorts, I have to bind the grid twice, once in page_load and then in sort event of user control.
I can store the first set of records in viewstate and bind that in page load, but is there any other way, so that i dont need to bind the grid in all post backs but only inside of not postback.
Suppose I have a string in U.S datetime format, "2/25/2010" and the server is on U.S East Coast with a timezone offset of "-5". When I convert the string via
Convert.ToDateTime("2/25/2010").ToUniversalTime(), it saved as "2/25/2010 5:00:00 AM" (which is correct as local server time for it is 2/25/2010 12:00:00 AM"
Now, suppose my user is in the U.S central time with a timezone offset of "-6", what I want to do is convert it approriately and when this user from central time do "Convert.ToDateTime("2/25/2010").ToUniversalTime()" type of statement, the datetime saved will be "2/25/2010 6:00:00 AM"
How can I change the default session time in an ASP.NET website to something user defined - perhaps 1 hr?I assume the default session time is 20 mins..
i'm trying to learn about user controls. I created a user control that has a textbox and a button. What i'd like to be able to do is when i click the button in the user control, populate a label in the aspx page. I understand that i could just have a button on the page that uses some properties on the user control to get that information.. but i'd like to know how to do it with the button the user control.. the reason for this is the button is just an example.. a learning tool. if i can get this working, i'd likely be putting thing in the user control that might require this kind of passing information. Anyway.. i've found some c# examples that i tried to get working as vb.. but once started getting into the delegates and events.. well.. it made me turn to this post.
I am using a user control that I created (just a .cs file not an .ascx file), that does some magic and depending on a value generated by the control, I need it to do something on the parent page that is 'hosting' the control. It needs to call a method under certain circumstances (method is on the parent control).the control is placed on the parent page like so:
I'm dynamically creating buttons etc on the control itself but when a button is clicked, let's say for example that there's a text box on the control and if the value of the textbox is "bob" it needs to call a method on the page that's housing the control...how can I accomplish this?
Basically, I have a user control with a set of input controls such as textboxes and radio buttons. It also has a button along with these controls. What I want is that when the user clicks this particular button, the data entered in the input fields must get updated into a grid in the parent page.
I looked up the threads about this. But I couldn't do it...
this is my method in aspx.page:
public void MesajlariGetir() { DataSet ds = new DataSet(); SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(); SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("msjlarigetir", con);
I want to show a grid view Control that is initially displayed to allow the user to enter multiple records. This grid view will not be tied to a database nor will it need to save the data that is enter into the GridView Control directly to a database.
Here change_scheduleDate function is executing every time for every row but i need to execute this function only when value change in txtdate textbox or same case i need if i create textboxchange event at serverside here i am updating txtdate value in database when text box value changed
i have a grid form with 3 fields field1 & field2 & field3.
in the insert statement the field 3 gets a javascript function result that uses filed1 & 2 values.
Now what i want in the grid view update statement is : to call the @field 1 & @field2 from the update statement to a similar javascript function..(do soem calculation ) and then re-assign the java function result to the @field3 variable in the update statement..
(//// Or simply what i want is to do the same calcultions onthe fields while perfoming an update operation.. //).
how can i perfom the calculations in a grid view update statament ..
I would like to read from a data reader (or other) and write to a grid of some kind one row at a time in a loop. I prefer this rather than load a data bound grid control all at once. I need to do this because I have to perform some calculations on the data before writing each row.
I am trying to create a second grid in the same page with detailed info for a given record of the first Grid, but when I press select in the first grid nothing happens. I follwed everything I read.
I have a grid view that does add, edit update and delete. ( I draged the grid to the aspx page ) it is working. I would like to have the following : once I lick on edit, I open a form inside the grid view to edit the fields. How can I do that.
I need to know that how i can edit the particular cell value in grid view at run time just by clicking it(value) then it shows text box and after enter any value, it then save in database.
