Forms Data Controls :: Changing DetailsView And Gridview Colors For Different Users
Mar 18, 2010
How would I go about changing gridview colours and detailsview colours depending on who logs onto my website? Is there a way of doing it in the code behind (basic example follows) :-
If User = "Peter" Then
Gridview/Detailsview Headerstyle =
Gridview/Detailsview Controlstyle =
End If
The gridview and detailsview are connected to SqlDataSource controls and are databound to a SQL server database.
I want users to select a record in the GridView and then have that record open up in the Detailsview. How would I go about getting these two tools to communicate?
I am trying to "reset" the DetailsView in View1 to ReadOnly mode if the user changes the index in RadioButtonList. Currently, it is working correctly for the first pass and second pass, but fails at the third pass. I want it to just cycle through the DetailsVIewdatabound event, but the cycle breaks on the third pass and I'm not sure why?
I have a gridview with auto Edit buttons... when I click on Edit button it is losing it row and column colors. We are initially setting the gridview colors in the page_load event.
I have a gridview that I shows tasks assigned to me in our organization. One thing we've thought of is to have them color coded by date. The date is one of the fields and it's auto sorted by that field. So for example, if there were three tasks, one due tomorrow, one due today, and one due yesterday. I would like my task due yesterday's row style to be highlighted in red, the one due today to be green, and the one due tomorow just to be default.
I have a problem that in DetailsView Edit Mode, if I go to edit fields, and set a fields visible property to false, when I update the record through the built in update options it sends a null value. If I change the field back to visible, it passes the data just fine.
Consequently, I tried just setting the field to Read Only = True, and got the same result even though the current values do show up in the edit mode, just read only.Is there anyway to hide the field but still allow it to pass the data it currently has "BACK" into the record.
I have a details view in asp.net which I am dynamically replacing some of the controls using code behind (e.g. converting some text boxes to dropdowns). My problem is that I am unsure how to bind these to the field from the database on postback. I.e. I am trying to find the code behind equivalent bind('currency');
I can populate the dropdown with the current value from the database but cannot find how to save a new value on updating the detailsview.
I have a c# code that put some background color in cells according with some values, the problem is that each time I add a button or a postback occurs I lost all colors (and other attribs). So my workaround in call the function that fills the gridview each time... but this produce a slow performance.
I am trying to make the colors different for every line, so lets say one line white and the next light grey. I tried it in the gridview usingbut it has no effect on the display! The lines are all white! Only formatting to work is the header formatting. For CSS, I have
I have any opportunity to change the colors of GridView cells due to it's value. I have an SQLDataSource with different int values, and want minus number to have blue background and plus number - red.
I have some ImageField in my DetailsView and when I changed it to Insert mode then ImageField is also became the textbox that allow you to type something, and my question is how I can make ImageField to be read only when I changed DetailsView to Insert mode?
But I´m trying to do that programmatically, not with the sqldatasource. So I wrote the method that binds data to Detailsview and I call it in the page_load. The problem is that I have to click two times on the select button to view the detailsview. The first time I click on the select button nothing happens.
I have a gridview with a Select button. Clicking the Select button for a particular item, I need its full details displayed in DetailsView. how I can bind to DetailsView? Here is what I have so far.
I had a DetailsView control for editing records in a Access 2003 database. I transfered the database to MS SQL 2008 and using the same code does not work - after clicking edit nothing happens (no error) and the record is not updated.
I have a question, I have a gridview that shows a red balloon as imagebutton in one of the cells. Now i want to be able to let a users press the button, write a value in a record in the database and then change the red balloon to a yellow one. When the user wants (at any given time) wants the undo the value again the record should be rewriten again and the yellow ballon should be red again. Any tip is more than welcome :)
am displaying student attendance in Grid view.I choose absent as A, present as P and leave as L. Now i would like to display A in red color, P in green
First off, sorry if this is in the wrong section. I have a gridview that loads from a SQL database. It has three columns, the first being a template column with a checkbox, the second being a name from the database, and the third being a field from the database related to that name. (the third column is empty). I want to be able to click on the check box in each row, and automatically have the third column populate with data that the user can select from a drop down list at the top of the screen or something. I am using VB, and I basically just need a way to make this checkbox, add a value from somewhere into the database. (Also, I know that I can just use Edit in the gridview to change data, but there will be a long list, and that way gets quite time consuming) I hope this makes sense, if not I can try rewording it.
I have a gridview and detailsview on the same page. The detailsview is defaultmode="insert" and works perfectly (Role, Site and Department are all bound to ddls). The gridview displays information fine and deletes fine - but when i click edit it breaks. But i dont understand why as it is using the methods and data sources as the gridview. I did a test run on this a few weeks back and it worked in visual web developer, lost all the data when i formatted the hdd and now - i cant get it to work, but i am sure its exactly the same. error is
DataBinding: 'System.Data.DataRowView' does not contain a property with the nameXXXX.
It does that on each of the ddls for site, role and department. But the property is there! i can see it when i test my SPROCS and they display / work fine in the detailsview.
We are using gridview to display data and detailsview to show details, update, insert, and delete as needed. I am a bit confused on whether or not htmlencode and htmldecode is needed when storing data from detailsview. Gridviews always use boundfields and I think encoding and decoding is built in. For detailsview we use mostly templatefields (eval(), bind()), some boundfields, and some data is stored in codebehind using e.values[] or e.newvalues[].Here is where I've got the idea:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.ui.webcontrols.detailsview.itemupdated.aspxIf I use the iteration and htmlencode, detailsview read only mode displays decoded data. However, gridview displays encoded data and of course update mode of detailsview. So, it seems like detailsview using htmlencode and htmldecode somewhat, but I am not clear as to what degree and what would be the best way to handle it.
I am designing a web page that allows for the maintenance of a single table - so I have some controls that allow the user to specify some search parameters, a button that then populates a gridview with the result of the search meeting the search parameters, and a details view for inserting and updating specific records. The gridview and detailsview are bound to appropriate sql data sources. All pretty standard. There is also a "reset" button that clears the results of the current search - sets the visibility of the gridview and detailsview to false, and clears the search parameters. Again, pretty standard. What I have done is when the user goes to insert a new record, the gridview and search parameter specification controls are hidden, and the details view displayed. If they cancel the insert operation, the details view is hidden, and the search parms and gridview displayed - but what I am finding is that there are situations when a previously populated gridview is displayed. Here's the situation:1) Specify some search parameters, click search - and the gridview appears, with the appropriate records displayed.
2) Click on the clear button (oops - I didn't want to search, but add a new record). The gridview disappears, the search values are cleared out.3) Click on the insert button - the detailsview opens in "insert" mode.So far, this all works well, and is intuitave to the users.4) Click on the "cancel" button on the details view. I hide the details view, and show the gridview and search parameters. The gridview appears - with the results of the previous databinding still in it.My question is: Is there an easy way to "unbind" the gridview? From my understanding of how the datasource to gridview (or detailsview) connection is done, there is a datatable "behind the scenes" that manages the two way data binding. I also assume that data that has been bound to a gridview is carried over in the viewstate - it would be nice to clear out unneeded data in that.
