Oct 13, 2010I have 2 gridview controls gathering data from 2 different tables and I want them to line up on the screen so they look like one big table.
Each table has the same number of columns but the 1st columns on each grid view don't line up. Both are set to 200px, all other columns are 40px. The data in one has say 5 letters in the 1st one and 25 letters in the second one.
Is there a setting I need to use to make each column 200px?

May 14, 2010I'm using a GridView to retrieve data from a stored procedure using a SQLDataSource (db is SQL Server 2008). When I compile my application and go to my website, all the data is loaded and shown fine. If I was to add a new entry to the table however (a seperate page on my website has a Wizard control to facilitate this) and then return to the page with the GridView, the new entry doesn't show up.
Looking from SQL Server, the data has been added, but the GridView isn't updating to show it. If I were to recompile the project with F6 and refresh the page, the new data will show up. I tried calling DataBind() on the GridView in the Page Load event, however the issue still remains.

Feb 1, 2011I have a GridView in ASP.NET. I have an Edit CommandButton for every line in the GridView to edit the data on that line. All of this works fine except for the fact that when the user clicks on Update, it does not update with the correct value that the user entered. I have this as a Template field with the textbox to edit bound to the field, so it updates when the user changed the value and clicks Update. However it does not work. I have tried almost everything and its very frustrating. Here is the code for the Data Source:

May 4, 2010I have a FormView with an EditTemplate.And the EditTemplate contains an ascx control:

The contents of the ascx control has TextBox and DropDownList controls binding to the results of the FormView's ObjectDataSource through Text='<%# Eval("field1") %>'and SelectedValue='<%# Eval("field2") %>'.This works fine and I have been building all of my front end pieces like this as <asp:Panels> rendering as FieldSets that go 100% across the screen.And we call these areas "strips" accross the screen.But now I've run into a problem.One TextBox and one DropDown bind fine to a Ticket Object.But the DropDownList that works has its <asp:ListItems> hardcoded before hand.Now I have DropDownList that gets populated through a WebService in the ascx's
code behind like this:

The Problem I think is the FormView is trying to do its Bind to the objectDataSource before its child ascx control is loaded in the Edit Template.And I am getting this error:
Databinding methods such as Eval(),XPath(),and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control.Meaning that the control must already be databound to bind the selectedValue to a Property of the TicketObject.Is there an easy way to force the order of loading to make the PntipUpdtFaaInfo control load and have its Page_Load execute and bind ddlEquip before the FormView does its first dataBind and executing its Evals?Otherwise I have to take out the eval on the ddlEquip SelectedValue attribute and go to the Parent Page and hack and force everything to happen when it needs to.This layout has worked out well for me.All of the ascx area strips across the screen share the same Validation Summary for example.It allows me to think about one section at a time and the Properties to the Business Obect and CRUD methods as I go.But this is a big brick wall I've hit.

Jan 18, 2011I have problems with GridView control which has template field with checkbox in it. My primary concern is that same code works for all the other GridView controls I have in different webforms, but not in this one.
This code is supposed to get the identities (ID column in GridView) and then get the values of first two selected and finally redirect them to another webform as querystrings. I double checked the GridView and they are identical (except they are binded to different datasource).

Sep 20, 2010I thought I finally had this cracked but now I want iterate through the records in my listview and do different things depending on whether the record is displaying existing data or is a blank, new record. Easy, right? Here's my code:

The problem is that the listview doesn't seem to recognize the insertitem as such. Obviously I don't really want that message box in there but it was just to test whether the insertitem was being picked up. The message box is never displayed.I also tried a simple iteration through the listview items with a message box popping up on each item displaying the item type. It said 'DataItem' every time, never 'InsertItem', even though there is definitely and insert item there!!

So when the user selects the drop down Address Type Main , Street, Emergency - I want the Address text fields to display based on user selects. So, for my dropdown i have datavaluefield column as addressid. And the datasource for this is datatable. I was having problems converting from datatable to dataview. Does anyone know how to do this? I was geting errors cant convert from datatable to dataview. I was choosing dataview because you have the filter option. But then I saw you could also select in data table. So I am trying to select a row in datatable with select with expression like this:

Sep 7, 2010I have a GridView with a Template Field set to Checkbox. Issue is; when I click the asp:button I placed beneath the GridView to update the database, I do not get a checked value on the returned button. So it just skips my code and nothing happens.

Apr 17, 2010I have a formview that displays user info from a dropdownlist. One account may have many users, but one account Primary. I am trying to disable the Edit/Delete button in the formview if the selected ID is the account primary. The problem I get is this.
Step 1: page_load - the primary user is displayed by default, but the delete button is enabled - not right
Step 2: I use the dropdownlist to select another user (not the primary) - everything's fine
Step 3: I then select the Primary User, the Delete Button is disabled - perfect
Step 4: select another user, delete button still disabled - Not right.

1. As you can see my sqlSelect Parameters are bound to the DropDownList.SelectedValue, but is t seems like my if statement for comparing selecteduser to varAdminID doesn't work except once.
So to help debug, i added a label control that displays the selected userID, but on page load the label is blank. but it displays the first record on the list anyway. so if this is the reason for not disabling the delete button on page load then why later does it not reable the button when the user is not the primary, and the UserID is displayed on the label and it is not the primary userid?

Feb 23, 2010I have a gridview with 1 field that is setup to display my clients content from the DB. Within their console, i have setup to allow them to enter that fields data with HTMLEditor.The field is setup with HTMLEncode = true but anything done to the text is being displayed as actual html code on the site, so all the html tags are shown and so on. Nothing has changed on the site now for about 2 months( with the actual .aspx pages ) they are only allowed to update the content. Can anyone tell me what i can check or change to insure that the content is displayed correctly to the browser?here is the aspx code for that field:

Jan 11, 2011I have created a search page for web application that will allow a user to search the database based upon employee name or supervisor name. It is a multiple table database that is linked together by an unique employee number column, primary key in people and foreign key in supervisor. I have a parent/ child datalist used to display the record. When searching by the employee name it will return the record correctly if there is a record found. However, if I search by supervisor name and there is no match for the supervisor name, it will return all the records and create the parent datalist with all the employee details there, but the child datalist with the supervisor information is not display as there is no record with that supervisor name.

What I need to do is to compare the values for the previous day to see whether it is greater than today's and then return an image in an Image templatefield in a gridview. Below is my gridview:

Basically, the imgUrl method should return the correct indication in the gridview image template field. For instance if the sprice(which is today's values) is greater then the previous an uparrow should appear. However, I notice that the conditions is not evaluating correctly, for instance the Bank_Name FCMB in the table still returns an uparrow even when its share price is down from the previous day value.

Mar 16, 2011I have a ListView (table inside) and it's first row are some TextBoxes for filtering actions.
In the last column I have a button that calls my Search function and filters the records according to the inputs.

My Search function for now only displays a text inside a Label at the top of the page.
When I load the page, I'm using ListViewPesquisa.DataBind() so it shows it's EmptyDataTemplate, but when I click the button inside the event isn't called at all. If I do put some data (any data) in the ListView and it shows it's LayoutTemplate instead, the event is called properly.
I can get around this issue by moving the filter line out of the table, but I'd like to know why is that the button inside the EmptyDataTemplate doesn't work.

Dec 20, 2010I have a custom page (Page 1) in SharePoint where I have a repeater control. From Page1 I open Page2. This is where I generate a collection of object which i use to bind repeater control in Page1. For the first time everythings work fine. If I have 5 objects to bind, repeater control shows 5 elements.
Now assume, I have 5 elements in page 1. When I open page two It carried over same 5 elements. I delete 1 element and send 4 element as collection to Page 1. In page 1 after I databind the repeater control, it doesn't display correctly. It deletes the wrong element.
I debug my code. The collection which i am binding to repeater shows the correct elements. But while displaying i is not showing correctly.

When the Grid is viewed using IE - both the Header and the data rows properly display the cells with multiple lines. When displayed using Firefox or Safari - only the Header utilizes multiple lines - the data rows are on a single line ---- "Test1Test2" what needs to be done to display multiple lines in all three browsers.
