Forms Data Controls :: Excecuting A SqlDataSource - Insert Command Manually?
Oct 12, 2010
I've added a simple SqlDataSource to my site with insert properties. I've also created some code behind to capture the insert command (oninserting="SqlDataSource_NewsLetterSubscription_Inserting").
Thing is how do I actually trigger the command to 'insert' from a standard button?
Can you add a row of data programatically and bind it to the gridview? If so, how?
I have a grid with 2 columns. One of these columns is a template that runs a function and delivers an output. Within that function I need to manually add data that is not present in the sqldatasource to the grid and use it when performing aggregate functions.
ColumnA - ColumnB 1 - MyFunction(1) - adds new row (1, B)and returns A to column B. 2 - MyFunction(2) - May return just A
Grid should look like 1 - A 1 - B 2 - A
Even though SQLDataSource only returns 1 - AB 2 - A
Two ddl inside gridview. on selecting first ddl1 fill next ddl2 by passing selected value as parameter by executing the sqldatasource select command in codebehind.code:
GridViewRow gr = (GridViewRow)((DataControlFieldCell)((DropDownList)sender).Parent).Parent; //find the control in that DropDownList d1 = (DropDownList)gr.FindControl(ddl1); DropDownList d2 = (DropDownList)gr.FindControl(ddl2); SqliaDataSource.SelectParameters.Add("@name", d1.SelectedItem.Text.ToString()); dataView dv=(dataview) SqliaDataSource.select(DataSourceSelectArguments .Empty); Error: There is no source code available for the current location. and Returns null value
Am trying to use sqldatasource to insert into a table and it comes up with the error message" Could not find control 'txtLast' in ControlParameter 'LastName'.
I want to issue an INSERT command for an SQL Server table using DataAdapter without first issuing a SELECT command. Could anybody send me lines of code to handle this? Also how do i manage INSERT into selective table columns (I have 10 columns but i only want to update 2 of them)?
I have a details view to insert some data. I want to validate this data myself. use the ItemCommand to trap the insert command. If the data entered does not match what I need, I want to somehow stop the insert procedure at this point.
My web form contains a detailsview control that I have added a templated field to with a DropDownList in the InsertItemTemplate. The DetailsView default mode is 'insert. My detailsview is attached to a sqldatasource that has a stored procedure in the db to handle the insert. When I enter data in the fields and select insert all values from the detailsview are written to the table except for the selection that was made in the dropdownlist. I am using the ddl.selecteditem.value to populate my variable however when the insert method is envoked it doesn't send my value. The DDL value that I am capturing does not need to be written to the table it is just a flag for some variables that need to be set at the stored proc level. How do I get the DDL selected value to be sent with the insert statement?
Here is my code behind:
Protected Sub DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Dim temp As DropDownList Dim AccessLevel As String temp = AddUserDetailsView.FindControl("DropDownList1")End Sub AccessLevel = temp.SelectedItem.Value Label1.Text = AccessLevel
I want to click on a date in the calendar and use that date in an insert command.
I have inserted a Calendar in Visual Web Developer and cannot figure out how to get the date so i can use it when inserting a new entry in my table... how do i "catch" the date and how to insert it as date.
I have the insert command working with dummy fields...
I am collecting user data using 3 detailsView, dv1,dv2, and dv3 each connected to sqldatasource , ds1,ds2,ds3. I would like the user to click one button(InsertBtn) and add all the data entered in each detailsview. I added
ds1.insert(); ds2.insert(); ds3.insert();
to OnClick event of InsertBtn. But the data does not get inserted...?? How can I make the user click one button and add the datas in each detalsView to database..???
I working on a ASP.net project, database is MS SQL
for a reason that cannot find why, when I insert an entry to the data base, the entry is duplicated.
The controll runs this:
Protected Sub grdCustomer_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles grdCustomer.SelectedIndexChanged Dim Quote As New QuoteBLL Dim Customer As New BeeSafeShutterSystemTableAdapters.CustomerTableAdapter
I would like to know if I can do the following: when I am in insert mode, can I dynamically change the select command of and then display that result in the second dropdownlist based on what was selected in the first dropdownlist.
I would like to include the minimum code to demonstrate what I am trying to do.
I have a dropdownlist, which dynamically populate data from SQL Server and i wanna manually insert two items on top of the DDL after data binding. So, the DDL would has data something like this:
Select Branch (manually insert) ALL (manually insert) AIR AMP ABG ...
Select Branch (manually insert) ALL (manually insert) ('AIR' branch should be here but it's gone) AMP ABG ...
After manually insert the 'ALL' item into the DDL, the 'AIR' is gone which is already replaced by the 'ALL'. How can i remain all the data from server and at the same time i can manually insert two items?
i'm trying to issue a select command in my app soi could execute the command and retrive the data into a string variable.the problem is that this command is overloaded with DataSourceSelectArgument and i can't figure out what it is.i'm using sql server express and when issue a n insert command for example sq.Insert(); i have no problems.this the command that's holding me:
SqlDataSource sq = new SqlDataSource(); sq.ConnectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["CustomerDatabaseConnectionString1"].ToString(); sq.SelectCommandType = SqlDataSourceCommandType.Text; sq.SelectCommand = "SELECT * FROM CustomerTable where customerID = 1"; string result = sq.Select(some overload that's stopping me);
i have two sqldatasource controls. one i use to display data in textbox's ,filter'd by a select parameter in page behind code. Once checked, i want to copy this data to the other datasource ,by selecting checkbox.Then display this data in detailsview control.
At present the two datasource controls declared , render data to the page simultaneously during pageload. I want to first check data in textbox's from first source, before second datasource is rendered to screen. note, both are filtered by a page variable. i wish to leave the textbox datasource control in situ, as other controls and code depend on it.The other detailsview datasource is my problem?
No matter what I do I keep getting the error that my input string is not valid and that the system cannot convert a string to a double. I have a table with two fields, both are defined as nvarchar(25). My command text is:INSERT INTO OtherProducts VALUES ('Sample','Test') am using Visual Web Developer. This is as simple as it gets. I have tried parameters as well.
In following SQL query: SELECT DISTINCT CodeID, CodeDesc FROM Faults.TblFltClearCodes AS TblFltClearCodes
I am getting a list but there is no null value.Within this query I would like to get only one NULL value at the top and then the list.How to do this? Explicitly I am not allowed to give a null value in the table in DB.
Can the select command of a SqlDataSource be given by code in the code behind file. Also by calling the SqlDataSource.Select can the select statement be executed?
I dragged and dropped a sqldatasource and want to do an insert statement, taking the new values from a textbox. I did this already however when i do my insert statement eg. INSERT INTO Development_Programme(MHID) VALUES (@m) HOWEVER when to select the insert parameters the 'Next' button and the 'Finish' button is shaded off, I added a Select statement and the 'Next' was unshaded HOWEVER the screen to select the insert parameters is not appearing it goes straight to the Test Query.
I'm trying to use a stored procedure in my codebehind insted of a sqldatasource to insert some data, and return the identity fields. But I keep getting tripped up on the output paramaters. What am I missing?
My code behind:
[Code]....
And, here's my stored procedure
Create PROCEDURE [dbo].[123] ( @MatterToCloneID varchar(15), @ClonedMatterID int OUTPUT, @ClientIDOUT int OUTPUT, @ExistingClientIDOUT int OUTPUT ) AS BEGIN DECLARE @ExistingClientID int, @PendingClientID int, @BillingAddress varchar(200), @BillingCity varchar(200), @BillingState varchar(100), @BillingZipCode varchar(20), @BillingCountry varchar(200) SELECT @ExistingClientID = ExistingClientID, @PendingClientID = PendingClientID, @BillingAddress = BillingAddress, @BillingCity = BillingCity, @BillingState = BillingState, @BillingZipCode = BillingZipCode, @BillingCountry = BillingCountry FROM tNewMatters WHERE MatterID = @MatterToCloneID Set @ClientID = @EClientID Set @PendingClientID = @PendingClientID Set @BillingAddress = @BillingAddress Set @BillingCity = @BillingCity Set @BillingState = @BillingState Set @BillingZipCode = @BillingZipCode Set @BillingCountry = @BillingCountry INSERT into tNewMatters (MatterName, ClientID, PendingClientID, BillingAddress, BillingCity, BillingState, BillingZipCode, BillingCountry) Values ('Enter Client Name', @ExistingClientID, @PendingClientID, @BillingAddress, @BillingCity, @BillingState, @BillingZipCode, @BillingCountry) Select @ClonedMatterID = scope_identity() Select @ClientIDOUT = @ClientID Select @ExistingClientIDOUT = @ExistingClientID END
I am using some serverside validators. The problem is the code behind is being executed once I hit the button even though the validators are fired.I want to make sure that everything is valid before excecuting what is in the codebahind.What condition should I use?
how would i do my Gridview delete command like a update command?
im using a datasource... and my delete command is like my update command... so i can change the status into "INACTIVE"...
DeleteCommand="UPDATE ACCOUNT_MAINTENANCE SET am_status = 'INACTIVE' WHERE (accmain_no = @accmain_no)"
UpdateCommand="UPDATE [ACCOUNT_MAINTENANCE] SET [account_type] = UPPER(@account_type), [min_deposit] = @min_deposit, [min_capital] = @min_capital WHERE [accmain_no] = @accmain_no"
when i press my delete command at gridview... the status changed into "INACTIVE" but when i refresh or press f5... it automatically update the status into "INACTIVE" also...
